Washington\nSquare West<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Washington Square West is really three\nneighborhoods in one: Midtown Village, the Gayborhood, and Washington Square,\none of five original public squares in the city. Located just south of Center\nCity, it’s widely considered to be one of the best\nPhiladelphia neighborhoods thanks to its vivacity and charm. We\u2019re\ntalking cobblestone streets, quaint caf\u00e9s, and locally owned shops, as well as\na thriving LGBTQ scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of our favorite spots in Washington\nSquare West are Talula\u2019s Garden<\/a> for high-end nights out and Brauhaus Schmitz<\/a> for unbeatable German cuisine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visit Philly<\/a> calls Fishtown \u201cyoung, hip, and on the rise\u201d\nand we\u2019d have to agree. Art, music, food, drink, shopping \u2013 what more could you\nask for in a top Philadelphia neighborhood?\nNorth of Center City, the area is easily accessible from just about anywhere in\nthe city but that\u2019s assuming you\u2019re going to want to venture out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We love visiting Philadelphia Distilling<\/a> for cocktails made from their Bluecoat Gin\nevery time we\u2019re in Fishtown. Other top spots include Cheu Fishtown<\/a> for ramen, dumplings, and rice bowls, and Castellino\u2019s Italian Market<\/a> for a mouthwatering selection of cured meats, cheeses, breads, hoagies,\nand more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connecting Old City to Fishtown, Northern Liberties (or NoLibs as the locals refer to it) is a great spot for dining, drinking, and shopping. Home to the popular Yards Brewing Tap Room<\/a> and Standard Tap<\/a>, NoLibs also offers convenient access to one of our top Philadelphia storage<\/a> locations at 501 Callowhill.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NoLibs is one of the most popular neighborhoods in Philadelphia thanks to urban\nplanning that ushered in a number of mixed use development projects. One of the\nmost famous in the area is the Piazza\nat Schmidts<\/a>, which opened in 2009 on\nthe site of the former Schmidt\u2019s Brewery. Once abandoned and overgrown, the\narea has been entirely reclaimed and rejuvenated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passyunk\nSquare<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While considered to be one of the safest neighborhoods in Philadelphia, Passyunk\nSquare still offers residents and visitors alike a densely populated urban\nvibe. Primarily known for the shops and restaurants along East Passyunk Avenue,\nPassyunk Square was once named \u201cone of the ten best foodie neighborhoods\u201d by Food & Wine<\/a>. Offerings include high-end fare alongside\ntraditional Italian restaurants, innovative Asian noodle bars, and cheesesteak\nadversaries Pat\u2019s King of Steaks and Geno\u2019s Steaks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While residents often travel to Center City\nfor nightlife options, there is still plenty to do in Passyunk Square,\nincluding visiting the neighborhood\u2019s famous Singing Fountain<\/a>. If you\u2019re planning to walk around one day,\ntry to time it for the second Saturday of the month when retailers and\nrestaurateurs offer discounts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bustleton<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bustleton is a quiet neighborhood in Northeast Philly popular with\nfamilies thanks to its diverse housing options, green spaces, and easy access\nto Center City. Named one of the ten hottest affordable neighborhoods<\/a> in 2019,  Bustleton is also known\nas one of the safest neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Unlike many other parts of the city, homes in Bustleton tend to have a\nbit more of a suburban feel and often come with backyards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a primarily residential community, Bustleton isn\u2019t known for its\nentertainment options. Whenever we\u2019re in Bustleton, however, we schedule a stop\nat Pennypack Park<\/a>. Its 1600 acres of fields,\nhills, woodlands, and wetlands are a paradise for bikers, walkers, hikers, and\nhorseback riders. The park is a gem of Philadelphia that\u2019s well worth the\nvisit.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fairmount<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

North of City Center, the Philadelphia\nneighborhood of Fairmount is sometimes called the \u201cArt Museum Area\u201d thanks to\nthe world-renowned art collections within its borders (including the\nPhiladelphia Museum of Art, Franklin Institute and the Rodin Museum). The\nneighborhood is also home to America\u2019s first waterworks and first penitentiary,\nEastern State<\/a>, which hosts a festive Bastille Day event\neach year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be sure to stop by Brown Street Coffee and B\u00e5nhery<\/a> for a quick brew and banh mi or Zorba\u2019s Tavern<\/a> for top-notch Mediterranean fare. No trip to Fairmount would be\ncomplete without a visit to Fairmount Park, which is 10 times the size of\nCentral Park. This massive green space abuts the Schuylkill River, offering plenty of\nopportunities for sports and recreation throughout the year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rittenhouse\nSquare<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Located smack dab in the middle of any map of Philadelphia neighborhoods. Rittenhouse\nSquare is a highly sought-after City Center address for families, young\nprofessionals, and students from nearby University of Pennsylvania and Drexel\nUniversity. Including both the Schuylkill River Park and the Rittenhouse Square\nPark, the area is steeped in old-world charm thanks to its history as one of\nthe original five public squares designed by William Penn and home to the elite\nof the Victorian era. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rittenhouse Square is known for its ample\nshopping choices, including the flagship Anthropologie on 18th and Walnut,\nalong with Boyds Philadelphia<\/a> and the Shops at Liberty Place<\/a>. Be sure to stop by Di Bruno Bros<\/a> European-style marketplace for all the fixings for a truly gourmet\nmeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
