On October 17th my wife went in to the location in benicia and spoke with Bobby. She had a great experience she walked out with a quote of 152 for the storage unit which was a 10x15. My wife had to work the next 2 days so she asked me to go down I had to work but I was able to go down today which is October 19th. Bobby wasn't there but Jason was apparently he used the general manager and supposed to know everything so he says. So I show him the paper that Bobby gave my wife showing the price would be 152 then he says well there's no reservations so it's actually higher today it's 176 and I was like it's only been two days and his explanation was something about corporate this and corporate that and he doesn't know when they change things and blah blah blah and I'm thinking aren't you the general manager how is it you don't know. And put a bad taste in my mouth especially since one of my first reviews I read of this place was that the rent was raised six months after somebody was storing items here. So given that I told him thanks but no thanks I'll find another place. Then this evening I was telling my wife about happened. And we looked online tonight and it shows that that unit is $152 so I don't know what the hell Jason was talking about maybe he was just trying to get an extra $24 to put in his pocket I'm not really sure All I know is the left a very bad taste of my mouth and he needs to get some help with his knowledge as being a general manager of a corporate location like this. I won't be renting from CubeSmart which is too bad because there were reviews that said the location was nice and people had a good experience but for me when it starts out like that I just walk away it's not worth the time.. Update 10/20. After seeing the price online was again$152 I went to cube Smart worked with Bobby WHO WAS AWESOME! , She was able to help us secure the price$152. Very very helpful. I'm not changing overall review of CubeSmart however only because I think it's important for people to know what we had to go through before securing a space. If Google allowed me to do separate review just for my 10/20 encounter with Bobby I would've. I would give My experience with Bobby a 5 ? rating

This place is such a scam! I had my storage unit for less than 6 months and the rent got raised by 35$ a month with less than a month notice. They trick you by getting your business with a "lower" price just to scam you and raise it through the roof 3-4 months later. Find a better place to keep your stuff!

Need storage space? Avoid CubeSmart. It's all about them. Sure, they're very friendly, cooperative, and helpful getting you into a storage space, but once you are committed, you will see their alter personality. I have rented storage from CubeSmart for 10 years, never late in paying my bill. Expect 8%+ annual increases, even in years when inflation is less than 2% which I consider price gouging. I imagine investors are happy with the yields they receive at the expense of renters. So, how about the secured premises they solicit online? Well, my unit, and a couple others were simultaneously burglarized over Thanksgiving weekend. Just prior to the thefts the front gates were regularly left wide open to 10 pm, even though they advertise secured premises 24 hours, and the site manager's shift is over at 6:00 pm. This is false advertising. When i asked them to review site entrances & exits during the time of the burglary, CubeSmart refused to cooperate. I had some large pieces stolen which may have been easy to identify in the back of a truck or trailer which could have led to the recovery / conviction of the culprits. I think I had a reasonable request. CubeSmart's response was to refuse any access to security camera footage and stated that they will legally contest any / all attempts to access security camera footage. Monday, after the Thanksgiving holiday, when I went in to the CubeSmart site office to initiate my claim, I was greeted by a new manager, and staff who refused to cooperate in any way in recovering my stolen property. Makes one believe that the burglar was a CubeSmart employee, and the new site manager was protecting the interests of CubeSmart vs my interests. The CubeSmart required insurance, Great American Insurance, I believe is a wholly owned subsidiary of CubeSmart.Too convenient, too cozy for my likening. You be the judge, realizing that if you intend to store your property at CubeSmart you are subject to their aggressive pricing policies and their misleading security policies.

I’ve been looking at storage facilities since moving recently and visited this Cubesmart the other day. Unfortunately, they did not have a unit available in the size I needed BUT Jason, the manager, was very helpful and friendly. He gave me a tour of the facility and it looked clean and safe, in spite of the location being very close to a railway and the highway. Ultimately, even though I was not able to find a unit for myself, I would recommend my friends and/or family to use this Cubesmart if they needed storage.

BEWARE. THIS FACILITY IS INCREDIBLY UNSECURE. Of course all storage units/facilities are susceptible to theft, but this facility makes it incredibly easy. The rear wall of the lockers are not inside gates, or even fenced in. You can walk right up to the back of the units from the railroad tracks. The wall is constructed of flimsy sheet metal, held together by rivets which can be removed very easily. After my unit was broken into, they “repaired” the wall, and I have to tell you, I am in absolute awe at the dismal Quality of the “repair “. I feel sorry for the next guy to have this unit, they might as well just put their stuff out on the curb with a “FREE” sign

This company canceled my lease less than a month after I signed it with no reason given. That will not respond to my request to refund my prorated rent or tell me anything about what I could possibly have done wrong. I had rented an outdoor space to store my travel trailer and as far as I am aware there was no problems. These people left me to scramble to find a new spot to store my trailer as well as being out nearly $200. Don't rent storage space from this company. Their policies are not pro consumer at all.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! They are liars and just want to take your money and lock you out so they can auction your things! I paid rent and obeyed all the rules and they made up some bogus complaints to justify locking me out and taking my locks off. They leave the gate open some nights, often for more than 24 hours with no explanation, and ive seen at least 2 storages that got broken into and the locks cut off.

I rented a space at Cube Smart Benicia six months ago. I researched rates before renting and choose Cube Smart because of the price. Then suddenly I received a postcard today telling me my rate would go up by 10%. When I called the store manager, he basically said that rate hikes were random and that sometimes they go up after six months and sometimes after a year. When I asked him why a rate would go up after just six months, he didn't know, and told me that "it doesn't say it won't go up in the contract." I call this bait and switch. Advertise a rate and then in just six months raise it randomly. A place like CubeSmart understands that customers can't easily move their stuff and probably won't do it because of an extra $10 a month. So the customer is basically stuck, and wondering when the next rate increase will be.

Wish I could give zero stars. I’m rented a 10x10 storage unit at cubesmart in Benicia, CA from 2018-2020. The light outside above my unit wasn’t fixed for a year. There was cobwebs & dirt debris all around my unit. When I first asked David, the on-site manager, when the light would be repaired, he could not give me an answer. I told him I didn’t feel safe with the light being out, and he wrote off my concerns by telling me there hadn’t been a break in since he worked there. David was very unprofessional, and when I asked to speak to someone else about the matter, he said there was no one else. On the website, the units are listed as clean, “well lit” and the managers are trained to give award winning service. To my experience, none of these statements are true. I was very disappointed by the debris, broken light and incompetent & negligent management. I moved everything to Fleetview and I’m very happy there.

Cubesmart took over our existing storage unit. We received the new cubesmart invoice for the same amount that we have been paying. When I went to pay the invoice there is now a convenience fee for $1.95, so I called and if I pay over the phone it's $3.95. Where is the convenience? I've always paid online for years previously and it doesn't cost more. I know it's only $1.95 but that's not the point it's the principle. Imagine thousands and thousands of people billed $1.95 or more extra every month!!!

To rate our experience in one word: "meh". We chose this place because the rent is cheaper than the city and the first month of storage is free. The measurements of the storage units are misleading, our unit is supposed to be 5 x 6 and when we measured with a tape measure it is less than that by good 6 inches due to the way the door is installed into the ground on the inside of the unit. Also note on the smaller units the door opening is not 5' wide. We were duped into purchasing insurance because I did not have my COI with me (on a Sunday and couldn't call my insurance) but I would not have been able to add them to my insurance policy without a unit number. You can't get a unit number without viewing the unit in person and renting it. So whatever, $12 down the drain. FYI They don't pro-rate anything and you rate will go up after the first 6 months. You need to ask them specifically about these policies in order for them to tell you. The GM leaves much to be desired in terms of friendliness and/or making you feel like you have made a good choice in choosing to give their business money. You'll mostly receive blank stares and a "we got what you want" attitude. A note to the staff, sometimes people are just tired from moving a bunch of boxes and this is their only break before moving those boxes again into your space, a smile and some patience can go a long way. The plus is that it is a secure space (you need a gate code to get in and out) and you can access your unit every day from 7am-10pm. The only time you really need to deal with the people there is when you move in and move out. Oh and there are zero trash cans on site.

My first impression was that the facility looks clean, even though it is smack in the middle of a dusty industrial area. Walking into the office, I didn't exactly feel inspired by the outdated decor, but the staff made up for it with a warm welcome and great friendly service. Josh and Dave were able to quickly answer my questions even when I got technical. The price is about what I would expect in Benicia, but check their website and there's usually a discount to be found. Overall a five-star experience thanks to the next-level customer service.

Currently I do not need storage, but may have need in the near future. I was curious as to what the process entailed, so I visited my local Cubesmart store to find out more. I told the gentleman (Josh) who helped me up front that I did not intend to rent at this time, he said that was not a problem and still offered a plethora of information for me to take home, and also insisted on taking me on a tour of the property to espouse the benefits of this facility versus others. I do not need storage as of yet, but if and when I do, I will be returning to this store. Thank you, -Doctor Dan

Josh made this storage space rental simple, quick, and pleasant! Enjoyed talking about microbrews with him as we completed the paperwork. The space was clean and the whole facility looks well maintained. Half of first month's rent, too, with internet special. What's not to like? ??

Josh the manager was very pleasant and helpful. The process for signing up, paper work ect. Was easy and everything was explained simple and easy to understand. After we were done we were asked to check the gate code given, to make sure everything worked and understood how to do it. We then we're shown where are space was located, the dump station and where we could wash the RV. Overall are experience was very good. We give it a thumbs up and 5 stars!

It was very easy to get a reservation on line and then when I went into the office it was a simple process. Everything was explained in detail and the unit was very clean, the whole location is very clean and tidy.

I was looking for a place that was quiet, clean and remotely 'safe' for my storage items and CubeSmart Benicia was just what I needed! On my lunch break I was able to view the unit, review terms, sign the contract, and set up reoccurring payments with no hassle. J. Branum did an amazing job assisting with any questions I had and was very informative with the good, the bad & the ugly of contracts. Overall, I am very please with the set-up portion of my CubeSmart and Mr.Branum deserves an A+ when it comes to customer service (:

Affordable storage. Their units are clean and well-lit. I'm impressed by the cost and the look (and security) afforded my things that I have stored there. Have recommended to several friends for their storage needs.
