**This place is a corporate ran hellhole. Avoid!*** I have rented here for 5 years when it originally was storage west. Since that time my $180 unit has been raised to $460!!!!!!! Despite the huge price increase the facility is pathetically mismanaged. CubeSmart also only accept credit cards or in person check. If you pay online they charge a $10 "convenience fee" just to pay your monthly bill. Homeless people live in the units and scream and run around because there's no staff or security to stop them. There's also rats and mice everywhere and Cubesmart refused to reimburse me for rats that destroyed my equipment. Rather than address all the complaints, Cubesmart deleted this location's profile online and recreated it because of all their bad reviews. You will notice Cubesmart uses Google Reviews on it’s website because it allows them to censor bad reviews and use a bot to reply (on Yelp they are rated 1 star) Run fast and far from these people.

I rented this unit on the phone while i was in another state because my mom's health was declining rapidly and we had to move her to assisted care and find somewhere to store her things. I wanted someplace secure as well as clean. Janna helped me set up the right unit for our needs. She talked me through the whole process and made it all simple and easy. I had questions and spoke with Ruben who also made the whole process easy. When I got to California and saw the unit I was very happy. It was as described on the phone- clean and temperature controlled. I would definitely rent from Cube smart again in the future, and recommend both Janna and Ruben for their friendly compassionate help during a very stressful time for my family and i.

Avoid this company! They will raise your rent at a greater rate than all of their competitors, and their competitors offer better prices, hours, facilities, and services. Before a bot replies that "rent increases are indicated within the agreement" and should be expected, please try to understand that I knew that going into the deal but didn't think you'd be as greedy as you turned out to be.

RATE HIKES - RENTERS BEWARE! In June 2022, I rented a 5'x10' unit priced at $136.00 per month. Less than 4 months later they have increased the rate by over 10% ($15/mo). Beginning Oct 2022, it will now be $151.00 per month. This local facility and management is fine, but this is a corporate decision - and those are usually based on bottom-line greed. The local manager said he would reach out to see if this can be remedied, so for that I will give him 5 stars personally. But the corporation still gets 1-star for now. We will see what happens. UPDATE 10/22/22: This scripted response from corporate Cubesmart is rubbish. I spoke to the local manager at my facility. She tried to be as helpful as possible. She even emailed her district manager about this and got no response at all. Raising rent after only 4 months is nothing but greed. "Rising costs associated with providing service" is such a cliché. Nothing has changed in the last 4 months to warrant a 10% increase. I think it's more like "we are holding your belongings hostage and will raise your rent whenever we feel like it because we can." Let's see what happens when I email their help@cubesmart like they said in their response. Wanna guess?

***Don't Rent Here*** I have rented at this location since 2018 when it was Storage West. Bought out now by CubeSmart - who immediately raised rents 40% without notice. The building is now infested by rats/mice which have damaged my business supplies (yes management knows about it). They have it rigged that you have to pay a $2 "convenience" fee to even pay your bill - and you have to pay by credit card. It's junk. Looking to move out asap.

Store here at your own risk. This was my 4 time using Storage West facility and I lost over $2000 worth of personal belongings including some of very personal irreplaceable value. Theur response was most unsettling to say the least. "Not their responsibility". No effort to explain how it could not be their fault. It was clear to me and my witnesses that there was unlawful entry on several occasions. This was clearly their fault, they did not prevent entry to my unit.someone gained entry, after hours and it had to be an inside job. I am heartbroken.

This place sucks. From the moment I checked in it was an awful experience. Had to walk about a mile in the rain to see my unit before checking in, there is only one way out of here and you have to punch in your code again to leave, the staff are hardly ever in the office, the bathroom is always locked, they dont even let you throw stuff away in their dumpster, only accessible from 7-7, and to top it off it cost me more than my storage in pacific beach and the service and experience is much worse. All in all worst storage I ever had.

I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a place to store their personal belonging in the Escondido to use Storage West. Nothing but positive things to say about the facility and the staff.
