I recently switched storages and I thought it would be a painless process due to doing it online but it wasn't. First off there was nobody in the office to help me and then when I spoke to someone on the 1800 number they told me one thing and it was another. First the code to the inside doors wasn't the correct code and then once we figured that out I was told my storage would be open and ready for me which is was not. Therefore I had to drive down to another cubesmart to have somebody come take the lock off my storage so I could move my stuff in and put my own lock. Horrible customer service

This place is super sketchy and very very poor quality. I signed up online since no one is at the office in the middle of the day. I get my gate code and go through the gate. My code to open the interior door won't work so I speak to costumer service for half an hour until they give me a code that does work. I finally get inside and all the units look like they have been broken into at one point or another. All the doors are made from PLYWOOD. This looks like someone's garage they hastily made into DIY storage. There are roaches on the floor. I find my unit but it's locked with a yellow puck lock and I can't get in. Management is not here. At this point it's been an hour since I tried to move in and no one is here or able to complete the process. CubeSmart should be ASHAMED of this location. Finally someone on the phone tells me that This is a modified security access location And they only allow you to be moved in by a manager, but no one is here and I have been waiting over an hour.

Units are smaller than advertised by about 20%. A so called 5 x 10 is in fact only 4' 3/4" by 9'7". And then they keep upping the rent.

Signed up online and was told I was good to go start using storage unit. I arrive and the code I was given was wrong. I call and they give me the right code. I go in and find a lock on the unit I was assigned. Called and was told “oh, that location doesn’t allow for online sign up”. Oh really? Then why did you let me do it all online and even send me an email saying I was good to go? Not to mention the unit I was assigned had a gigantic chunk of the wall missing. Not a good experience and I definitely do NOT recommend.

Arrived yesterday to move into my unit and there was a lock on my unit door. Apparently the office is closed on Sunday. No where was that stated when I rented the unit online. So here I am with my Uhaul full and the truck due back a 6 pm. I had to rent the truck for another day. Take more time off work to get truck unloaded and truck return before 6 pm today. No compensation was offered.

Response to theft of items from my unit was poorly handled. I was not notified until two days after the event occured. Two nearby CubeSmart facilities have had management combined, with only one staff member on duty covering both locations. This staff member on duty did not have access to any details about the theft to assist with filing a police report. In going to the unit to recover the remainder of my property, the presence of only a single staff member for two facilities made it extremely difficult to retrieve my property in a timely manner.

I rented a unit online and was told that I can just come and move my stuff in whenever I was ready, I went up to the unit and it already had a lock on it so I went to the office across the street this is the location on 40th Street in San Bernardino and tried to go to the office and no one was there, so I tried to call and they couldn't get me through to anyone, finally about 2 hours later they called back and said I can come to the office and when I explained to the man at the desk what happened he said they've been getting a lot of fraudulents purchases online for units and that's why they keep the lock on there, I was told by the guy that sent me the link that the lock and the keys for it would be inside the unit, it was a bad inconvenience because I was 2 hours late turning in my U-Haul truck which caused me to be charged extra, so I feel they need better customer service agents handling the phone calls

IV been at cube smart since 2013 . I down sized to smaller cheaper unit Then rented another unit at other store on 40 th st. Witch has two small units .Two for one , as my son needed to store some belongings . For about the same price . The manager to a respectable manager . Jus wish the prices would never be raised . I pray I find a place to call home again , as we have been homeless for quite sometime . I deffenatly recommend this place .

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, rude, unprofessional, facilities were falling apart, no on sight office, their difficult to get a hold of, not clear with pricing when making the reservation. The personal complaints are in regards to the male manager not the female manager she was sweet, but he was aweful and also didn't wear a mask in the office either. Transients would wonder in and out of the facility because the pedestrian gate was open often. My unit looked like wood glued ply wood that didn't seem like it would hold. and didn't sound like it would hold either. (second floor 5x5 unit)

After CubeSmart read my first review of thier business and my unsatisfied experience they have gone out of their way to correct issues I had with them. Not only did they do me right on upgrading my unit size to corrcet size, my storage rate stayed the same. I am more than pleased to see that there are still companies out there that that care about putting the customer first. No on site manager the manager is at the other property and Thomas t manager is unprofessional. Horrible location and company. The manager Thomas very unprofessional. He relayed my private information to someone else without my consent. He also also added extra fees that he can't justify or back up with emails and tried to auction our items when the policy clearly stated we had way more time. I called corporate and they said someone would call me back that was 5 business days ago. I recommend public storage to anyone not looking to get ripped off or get embarrassed because nothing is being done about the problem.

Over all they are great. I am having a problem though recently two different units broke into the office never let us know we had to do it. Then the second one was hint they do nothing to assist you in claiming the insurance. Basically they questioned us being truthful on it by saying they couldn't see were they got in. They listen to nothing. The roof!

I personally rent two units there staff is great! They offer u option. They have a rental truck moving in tenants can use for ten dollars an he rented in four hour windows. I'll recently had someone I tried to help call demanding access into my unit to get there things. This person threatened to call police they said go ahead call no one is going in her unit unless she is here. They once seen my lock looked funny they left mine alone added there's to keep my stuff safe called me. I went there. I hadn't locked it through both areas to be secure. These people ate twenty stared.

This place was good when James was there but they shipped him off to another store so now there is not a person in the office full time. Three months ago I discovered all of my tools and my TV and stereo were stolen from my unit. None of the incompetent staff even cared. They blindly handed me an insurance pamphlet (you know the insurance they make you buy). I called that company and they denied my claim saying there was no forced entry. What am I thinking, lock picking has never happened in the history of theft right? Apparently that is what Cubesmart and American General Insurance believes. They should youtube it and see how it is done. Although they might already know because the Sheriff's department told me it was probably done by someone who works there. Both parties were basically insinuating that I stole my own possessions after an entire year of renting the unit (and I still have it) for the insurance claim. that makes sense, $4000 loss for $2000 insurance claim. To top it off, Cubesmart staff lied to me and said they rarely have issues at that facility. Sheriff's office show me the logs and they are there ALL THE TIME! Today I went to check my unit and there was a homeless man walking around checking all of the locks. Cubesmart manager lied to me and told me his unit had been tampered with. I know this is not true because I confronted the man. Funny thing was after I paid my bill I went down to check if the guy was still there, sure enough the Cubesmart manager pulled in a few minutes later. What do you bet he was looking for the homeless guy I question him (manager) about. Do yourself a favor, pick a different mini-storage company.

The 700 W. 40th Street site No Longer Has A Front Office or GM on site. If you want to rent a space from this location you must travel to the 800 W. 40th Street location. Where the GM is now Thomas. He is a very friendly and helpfull GM.The location is very clean and quiet..

I had such a great experience using Cube Storage! The unit was large and such a great price. They worked with me on the timing of getting my items out of the unit so I wouldn't incur a whole extra month unnecessarily. The facility is gated so your items are always safe and secure with specific gate codes for each customer so you can sleep easy that access is limited. I would use Cube Storage again for sure in the future!
