The Gales Ferry office is run by a terrific woman! 5 stars! She is super helpful, pleasant and patient!!! The reason for the 3 stars is for the storage facility itself 1star! The climate controlled storage is not true climate controlled! I was just at our unit to retrieve a few things when I noticed our mid century modern furniture had mildew on it!!! So much for paying a ton of money for an inside " climate controlled " unit!!!

I had some issues at the beginning when I first rented at CubeSmart, but the girl at the desk and I’m sorry I don’t remember her name was very helpful when I came back and changed units.. Units were clean perfect for what I needed. One thing though, when they tell you first month free it kind of throws you off because there’s other charges that end up being the same price as your first month, or even a little more, so it’s not like you get first month free to be honest, but I suppose if the full first month was added on it would be a lot more . I should be grateful. All in all the service was very good.

Disappointed no one shows up for customer service any more. When I got to my unit, there was no lock, like they said there would be and the light above the unit was out. (I get that things happen) but there’s no one to handle the matter until Monday. It’s Monday 12:24 pm and I still haven’t heard anything. I also was lucky I had a lock I could use .

CubeSmart should not raise rates for current customers. I was very satisfied with CubeSmart until I was notified of a 50 dollar rate increase on my 10 by 15 storage unit last month. The staff were wonderful, but the corporation needs to realize that customers do not appreciate rate increases. To me that’s a sign of corporate greed. I pulled everything out of the unit and moved across the street where there is a fixed rate from the time the unit is purchased. To me this is a fair agreement. There is no unexpected rate increases. Unfortunately, CubeSmart needs to stop this or they will lose customers.

This is an excellent CubeSmart, where I stored stuff in 2023 and the people that work here are so helpful. I enjoyed a drive up spot here and being able to open the gate from the app on my phone and very reasonable rates, and knowing my stuff was secure and safe. Great location up from the subbase. Make sure you ask for a military discount if applicable to you.

Not only are the fees ridiculously expensive, but if you move out of the space before a full month is up, you won't get a pro-rated credit for un-used days. I paid for a month on the 22nd and moved out on the 31st. They kept close to $140 of what I should be getting back. Their excuse is they are a month to month - so is any other company, but at least you get a pro-rated credit for what you don't use when you disconnect/move out/cancel subscriptions with other companies. Not CubeSmart. Count on them trying to sap every penny they can from you. And they don't answer phone calls.

Went in person to rent a storage unit. Overall everything was clean and in order. Only issue was that I was charged $18 for a lock i didn't need. The employee didn't bother to tell me that I had the option when typing up the contract. He wouldn't reverse the charge informing me it was already "to late" and the papers were ready to be signed. I will remember that... Overall I recommend this place but be careful and watch what your signing. Yes I could have refused the unit and walked, but didn't have time for games. Just watch and listen when you go to sign a contract. ***Update*** Management read the review I had posted and quickly contacted me for resolution. A refund was deposited to me immediately to cover the lock fee. I was glad to see how quickly this was taken care of! As stated earlier, I have no issue with this cubesmart. Its clean, well maintained and would recommend it to anyone looking for storage. Thank you management for handling this issue quickly!!??

My cube was broken into, the lock was cut. While they did call me when they saw there was no lock, they had no security cameras or any way to tell how it happened or who did it. The next month they raised my rate $20, but there was nothing more I was getting, not more space, not more security, just spending more money. I moved out yesterday and everything is covered in white mold. EVERYTHING. I had to throw so much away. The people in the office are friendly and kind, but they have been unable to resolve my concerns over security and the price increase.

Gales Ferry store manager, Amy answered all of my questions expertly, which included a smart resolution to my dilemma of downsizing to a smaller unit at the advertised discounted rate. Her advice was to start a new rental, but move out of the old unit and cancel the old rental contract before the payment due date. That way she was able to give me the great advertised rate on my new rental. As a bonus the smaller unit was in the same building, literally 20-25 feet away around the corner. So no lugging my stuff from building to building, which made the move super quick ! The transaction was very professional, quick and hassle free with a smile ! After I moved out, I was given a printed move out receipt by another CubeSmart associate, the receipt was also emailed to me. What a fantastic experience. Clearly, this team is trained well and this company has an excellent standard set for it's employees to adhere to. The initial experience online is very easy and streamlined. The online pricing was great too. 15% lower than a walk in pricing. They followed up quickly within 12 hours of my reservation. Very polite and very thorough. Unfortunately, I can't remember the girls name who took all my information. But she was great. Upon my move-in, Shawn was excellent in explaining everything that I needed to know. Very polite as he dealt with other customers and phone calls coming in. And he wasn't even supposed to be here today (Clerks reference), as he is the manager of the Mystic location. Clean facility, good security, decent accessibility although I do wish it was 24hr. I highly recommend this business.

I needed a storage space quickly when I decided to put my house on the market to sell, and CubeSmart not only helped me, but went above and beyond. During what was a very stressful time, they helped accommodate my questions and concerns, and even helped with things I hadn't even thought of! We kept furniture and several boxes here for two years when we relocated, and paid insurance the entire time. When we emptied it, we noticed stains on our couch. They said it must be mold, and that mold is caused by water but that the insurance doesn't cover water damage unless a pipe bursts. There were no pipes in ANY of the storage containers, yet they still scammed us into buying insurance. We even asked about humidity and either heavy rain or melting snow seeping under the door and were told it wouldn't be an issue. So now our like-new couch is ruined and we're out the money to replace it AND the useless insurance premium.

The price for these units can't be beat in the area, that is a plus. The girls in the office are friendly. There are some downsides to this location though. I just went to get into my storage (a week after a hefty snow storm) and I had to walk through snow piled at my storage door and I actually had to shovel a path for myself to be able to walk into the storage. Also the door to my storage unit is bent in and every time I try to relock the unit it turns into a half hour fiasco of me pinching my fingers and trying to adjust the door just right so that the lock can slide in. For the amount that people are paying for these units and for their own insurance (get your own it'll be much cheaper) the property should be able to pay someone to come remove the snow from in front of the units. There is very minimul unkeep that is required of storage companies. .. So please make it so that people can conveniently access their items. Also this location does not have 24 hour access to the units. Sincerely, Someone who will now be at work all day with wet feet.

While the storage unit itself is fine (in actuality it is just a closet), there are other ways things can be improved. While moving things into the unit, the ground was covered in snow and VERY icy. I nearly slipped and fell on numerous occasions. Some plowing and shoveling would have been nice. Also, I paid my bill online and didn't know I was charged a convenience fee until AFTER the transaction went through.

I just moved in on Sat Aug 13th and I've had nothing but good experiences. Amy helped me from start to finish and she was absolutely wonderful. Gave me all the info I needed to be ready for move in day. She made me fully aware of any fees that could happen. She helped me with my annoying renters insurance company. She was always pleasant. To top it all off, I didn't know until the end of my lease signing that I actually got the first month free! Only paid a small admin fee! Bonus! Thank you for making it an easy experience. I know if I have any questions or problems, I can call them.

Terrible place! If you don't pay in advance they'll raise the price on your account without notifying you. And if you pay for the whole month and then leave early they credit you for any amount of time. Rude, unprofessional, and dishonest. These people nickel and dime you and expect you to just take it. Don't be fooled by their low rates. They'll find a way to get more money out of you!

It was a blustery winter storm along the coast of Connecticut. Parking bans in effect. I found myself in a predicament. What does someone do with 4 vehicles and only 2 off street parking spots? My spirits were dampened and my wallet was cringing in fear at the possible cost of seasonal storage. What was I to do? I trudged through the interwebs and came across the Holy grail! Two valiant knights known as Amanda K, and Amy B came to my rescue! The Gales Ferry Cube Smart had exactly what I was in dire need of. Affordable seasonal storage! With the online discount and promotion I was able to procure a 40' outdoor spot. With minimal damage to my wallet, I'm now able to enjoy a six pack of Not Your Father's Root Beer by the fire on my tv screen. Apartment living at its finest.

Hi I love cube smart in Gales ferry because it was very very accommodating with my rental actually my rentals. they were so good and so nice that I had to do it twice. I got two rentals one for big household stuff and then I just got a little small one for my small personal stuff and the door would jam and when I told them about it, within 24 hours they had contacted the maintenance dept and they made an appointment around my schedule; we met at the facility and he fixed the door in 30 min or less and it worked perfectly! They are very personable, they know their customers by name and have a wonderful customer service ethic. I would refer anyone to them and would definitely rent from Cubesmart Gales Ferry again!

I was with this cubesmart for 2 1/2 years and they were always very helpful. Even when I was moving out of the area and came to end my lease, my keys were accidentally packed upwith my movers on their way to Hawaii and they still cut my lock for free... highly recommended for any sort of storage...

The location and facility is what I expected based on description, etc, so that's cool. But manager Erica Brooks was unexpected. Prompt, friendly, helpful, she went out of her way for us and when there was a snafu (ish happens) she made it right and went the extra mile by helping and moving heavy bins on a summer day on a fresh coat of hot-a** blacktop. She went for ice cold water, even. Thanks, Erica.
