Aweful. Prices CONSTANTLY go up for no reason. Also, my things were not available 24/7. No thanks. Otherwise they kept it clean and had a dolly available for use however it was really crappy, hard to handle and you had to literally life it ober threshholds if you stored your stuff inside. Would not recommend whatsoever

Unit was secure and clean. Corey the manager was professional and responsive, so were other staff members. rates were reasonable. I sold the items in storrage so no longer needed the unit. First-time user and if I needed a storage unit again I would definitely go with Cubesmart.

Price gouging! I’m literally paying the price! Since I began using this I’m 2019, it has already changed hands to another company (now being Cube Smart). The customer service at the desk has always been cordial. The pricing, however, has been atrociously outrageous. In 2019, my 10 x 15 unit was priced at $150 per month. Through a number of price hikes over the years, that same unit now cost $260 per month. I find this kind of price gouging to be outlandish, unnecessary, and unfair. Yes, if I were to contact the company, they would give me a number of corporate excuses regarding such price hikes. At the heart of it all, a storage unit is a storage unit. it does not cost more in materials. It does not cost more to do the job. It does not require more manpower. It’s just a steel locker that doesn’t change. As an active duty military member whose family has no choice but to use storage, we are handcuffed to whatever price hikes will occur. It would seem that Cube Smart is taking advantage of scenarios like mine, knowing that there are certain customers who must use the space and will be forced to pay whatever amount they will come up with. And to boot, all the storage companies in the area collude to maintain similar pricing. Do it wouldn’t do any good to ensure the inconvenience of moving all my things to another storage facility. I am stuck with the situation I have with this storage company. But I can certainly warn my brothers in arms about what is happening here. Ironically, they are posting a special for free first month rent, +40% off, which is a little infuriating giving the price I’m currently paying. Nonetheless, the property is kept clean, and seems very secure.

This was a decent place to have my stuff. The facilities were clean and secure. But I feel like they’re a little overpriced. When I originally set up my contract. They have you either lock it in at a price that seems a little high or have to give you a variable rate which just seems like an unnecessary game to get more money out of the customer unfortunately, I didn’t have a lot of choice to shop around so I was forced to just deal. On a good side, I always felt like I could get a hold of someone or there was someone there to help me for the most part which is always nice. I picked this facility because it was close to my home and seemed newer. But due to lack of competition in the area, I think they’re charging higher prices than they should.

I rented a 10 x 30 unit at CubeSmart in Groton, Ct. from April 3, 2023 to October 3, 2023. I needed the largest unit for all of my household belongings, it was not climate controlled and it was the only unit in my area that I could find at the time of my move. I did not completely fill the unit. After I was in for about 3 months my rent went up from $319.00 a month to $389.00 a month a $70 increase which is disgusting. What’s even more disgusting is that upon moving out of unit 612 movers pointed out to me that there was black mold on the bottoms of my wood furniture and my couch which was up off the ground was also covered in mold. I had been paying $13.00 a month for $2000.00 worth of Insurance coverage through CubeSmart along with my rental fee and was just denied any compensation for my belongings. The only good thing about CubeSmart in Groton Ct was Elizabeth the property manager she was always kind and courteous. PLEASE DO NOT RENT A UNIT AT CUBESMART IN GROTON CT!!! Mold Mold Mold!! After my things were out of the unit you could see the mold growing all around the plastic covered ceiling. My $2200 sectional is ruined. I will also be making a post about this on my Facebook page and will tell every single person that I know. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT RENT FROM CUBESMART IN GROTON CONNECTICUT. If I could upload pictures to this review I would, shame on CubeSmart, I will also be calling the Better Business bureau. *UPDATE* CubeSmart has refused to compensate for damages to my belongings if you have to rent from them it states that they are “not responsible” per the district manager Chris Cruise. He states “It is STORE AT YOUR OWN RISK” facility. BEWARE!!!

I had a space here for 3 years. First, under the name Extra Space, then Cubesmart. When I first started renting, my 5x10 was $160. When it was bought by CubeSmart last year, rent went up to $180. 6 months later I received a notice that my rent was going up to $220. That's insane. No one should be paying that for a storage space. On top of that, there was a leak in my unit and everything has water damage!!!! Mold all over all my furniture completely ruined boxes with items permanently damaged! Do not rent here!

Groton CT location is clean, safe and convenient. We were happy with the facility except that at the 3 month mark the rate increased from $107 to $120 and then they increased it a second time a few months later to $127. It feels a little predatory or mercenary for them to offer low rate to get you in and then when they know you’re not going anywhere a few months later they raise the rates. Of course you could leave in protest, but of course they know you won’t. Fortunately we only needed it for 15 months.

Not happy about the $50 a month rent increase without any notice. The owner/manager did not respond or return my calls and they know they have you held captive. I am NOT happy at all with the policy. I had an automatic credit card withdrawal. Perhaps after 6 months or a year, but not 4 months into the rental.

The employee at the Gold Star Hwy ;Groton CT, was very pleasant etc. However I emailed and left a voicemail regarding discontinuing my unit and never received a response. So I drove 45 minutes each way to go in to the office only to find out I was all set. That was extremely frustrating because I have very limited time and wasted time and gas money when a simple email or text saying you received my messages and everything was good.

Customer service LOCALLY was great! The salesperson at the national level was pushy and insisted on following a script, asking for too much information that was totally unnecessary.. Getting into and out of the storage area requires the customer to get our of the vehicle to enter the keycode in a stand-alone keypad that is too close to the particular gate to stay in the vehicle and roll down the window. Having to enter one's keycofe to.EXIT the facility is ridiculous!

Generally a decent experience here even though they jacked up the price after taking over the Extra Space Storage. Recently found out they've decided to close the office entirely on Sundays for Summer despite not updating hours on here, but even after returning today, Monday 7/25, there was no one in the actual office while we were attempting to close out our unit. We attempted to call this location a few times in case the person just stepped out, but no answer and no sign of anyone for about a half hour. We tried calling the other location in Gales Ferry and no answer from them and no indicated way to call their service center, wherever it is. Ended up having to use the online chat feature with Brett and he instructed us on what to do and closed the account after waiting around for about an hour and a half. Highly suggest the manager here updates hours or creates signage or gives a number to call or something for people to close out their unit if no one will be available in office during their stated business hours on their door and on Google.

The aisles are big enough to navigate a 26 foot U-haul down and the storage unit is plenty spacious and clean. I feel very safe keeping my things there and I'm glad I chose Cubesmart!

Wonderful service! From the initial phone call inquiry with the customer rep Karina, to the local manager Suzanne calling me within 3 minutes of booking to welcome me and finalize details! I've never needed a storage space before but I couldn't be happier with my experience with Extra Space. I had a small unit, which I found by google search, put a reservation on their website and received a call from the office within an hour. By the end of the day, I had an appointment to check out the unit, which went very quickly and smoothly. While I had the unit for about two months, I could access the space very easily and safely. It was also painless to move out, which I arranged for today. Seriously, it was so easy! Both people I worked with to open and close the rental were very friendly and warm. It's been a tough time for everyone but I couldn't be happier with the way I was treated through this whole experience. Highly recommend! Thanks for a great experience!

A huge thank you to Suzanne, Manager of Extraspace Storage in Groton. I called for the possibility of a name of movers to assist me in downsizing my storage bin in the Rocky Hill facility. She said she would check around and let me know if she found anyone. Not only did she call right back .. she gave me the name of a local moving company who were three of the most professional people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Call Semper Fi out of Moodus, Ct You won't be disappointed and pleasantly surprised at their attention to detail. They arrived to a hot mess another mover left behind and transformed the new bin into an organized thing of beauty! Moving is anything but a good time. Very nice place. Friendly staff, clean facilities. I have to admit the rates have gotten higher over the years, but I stayed on for loyalties sake. The convenience and atmosphere are worth the price raise to me. It may be a deal breaker for others. I know that this complaint is controlled by corporate, but I do want to Complain about the overhaul of the front office. What drew me to this place 2 years ago was how homey it felt. It felt like you were walking into a family owned business. That combined with the friendly staff and I signed immediately. However, now it’s been overhauled to a sterile “all business, all the time” designer by committee look and I feel unnerved by the whole thing. Design by committee works for some places but now Extra Space Storage feels like any other place. If you don’t feel comfortable walking in, you may not feel comfortable about their prices, or not notice the fantastic staff. I hope someone reading this review recognizes this fact and gives Extra Space a chance regardless. It’s too late now to go back to the old look but I hope a potential customer can overlook this for a top notch storage solution.

7/5/2020 Storage rental has become very complicated over the years, but Suzanne at the Groton facility took me through the process online with the utmost patience. She is a credit to the company. UPDATE 1/12/2021 I moved out of storage today and into my apartment. Extra Space Storage has been safe, clean and extremely convenient option, right off 95, close to Subase and downtown Groton. I would not hesitate to rent from Extra Space Storage when looking for storage during a long distance move. Manager Suzanne was awesome to work with over the phone. Our furniture was arriving to the Groton area before we were and we relied on our movers to move it into the storage unit and put a lock on it. Susanne went the extra distance to even call us to tell us that she had seen the movers arrive and even went to the trouble to make sure that the movers had locked the unit and our items were secure. There is nothing I would change as Suzanne provided EXCELLENT Customer Service both before and after the move. If I was a competitor I would want an employee just like her as she is personable, efficient, and competent -- and even took the extra step to insure our items were secure. I hope to meet her in the next couple of months and thank her personally. We hope to join our furniture eventually - but for now, I know it is safe and sound at Extra Space Storage. Pros: The management and staff were very friendly. The facility is well maintained. They answered emails and calls promptly. They were very accommodating about proration for an extra week, which leads me to believe the customer with the 1 star review in regards to this didn't follow the appropriate channels. I Don't feel this warranted a lesser star rating as it is a larger corporation with policies and procedures that I, the customer agreed to before moving in. However, I do feel it is fair to mention.. Cons: They do have a new requirement that the customer purchases a non-refundable cylinder lock. The security-options-for-storage link on the website states we are responsible for supplying "some sort of lock" which I had. I don't like to waste money and possibly may not be able to reuse this very specific type of lock. I understand prices and policies change; however the website information should also change. All that said being said.. Yes I would return and recommend others to this location with the recommendation that a value conscious customer plans ahead for a more cost effective cylinder lock in advance if that is a possibility.

Suzanne was out and about on the property. I called her ( her number was on the door) and she promptly came to let me in. I explain to her what I needed. She explained that it was available and there was also the first month free! Which definitely helped me out a lot. We took a tour of the unit, she offered me a lock and other supplies but I politely declined. I signed up then tested the code, and it worked. This was all done in about 30 minutes. I had a great experience.

Easy to get into the unit and personable staff. However, I told them I was only going to need approximately one month and one week of storage. They said that was fine, and I could get prorated for the last week; but they also encouraged me to sign up for automatic payments. When I talked to them after being billed for the full final month, they said there is nothing they can do now. So now they won't credit me back for the extra 23 days I paid for and also closed out my account with them. I don’t recommend unless you know exactly the dates you need, since they aren’t very flexible unless you know beforehand.

Terrible experience I have been at this storage location for over 3 years back when it was owned by extra space storage they were okay but I have never heard of a self storage facility who thinks they can lock you in if you try to leave past the gate hours that is exactly what happened yesterday on 4/24/2022 we left out a little past 10:00 p.m. put our code in for the gate and it was denying us access we had to wait an hour for the police to come and then the fire department who was finally able to open the gate would not recommend to anyone unless you want to be locked in a building for 8 hours

The staff at Extra Space Storage in Groton, CT is accommodating and pleasant. The facility is clean. The banner in front of the facility advertises "FREE FIRST MONTH." That doesn't apply to the unit you'll be looking at, nor mine. You will fill up your unit and they will start raising your monthly rent. They know you aren't going to be able to, or want to empty that unit. My rent was raised 20 percent in less than 6 months. I cleaned out in one week and thanked them for the motivation to stop the nonsense of paying $150 a month to store my stuff. Downsize or rent a unit somewhere else. The increases came too quickly and are unfair.

Secondly, I’d like to say the gates are not working properly for quite some time now and then third I would like to say that don’t count on a cart being available to move your items from your vehicle to your storage unit no matter how far it is because the last time I went, there weren’t any carts, and I had to carry everything by myself I am very unpleased … I rented from here last year and i felt so comfortable and secure that i came back again for my storage needs.. On Wednesday, august 29, 2018, I helped a senior friend at her storage unit here. Right next door is a new competitor, but, my friend said the reason she has stayed at this Extra Storage Business is because Suzanne is soooooooo helpful in so many ways. Suzanne always finds ways to cut costs and showed my friend some units that may be better suited for her needs. I was so impressed when Suzanne offered to come and cut some large cardboard pieces for my friend. If she hadn't done that, my friend would not have been able to get her project there done. Suzanne was very friendly, respectful, professional, and knowledgeable of that whole business. She seems to have a natural sense of what someone needs and makes great suggestions. The property and facility is clean and neat. *useful tip* reserve online and do the auto fill and the online registration as to save time at check in. It saves a considerable amount of time. Nobody wants to make moving last longer than necessary ?? Also utilize the refer a friend link. It will get you up to$50 off your next months bill. ?? also, the doors to the buildings are heavy and do not stay Open on their own so just use something heavy to keep them open while doing your runs in and out.?? you won't regret it here.

I just moved with the largest truck on the planet into this unit and my mom thought the truck could fit. When the truck didn't fit the staff went way out of their way to ensure we got the truck in and out including personally helping me navigate the truck and find a way to get it out. Suzanne was great to deal with. She was alone the first time I came in. Somehow she managed to deal with me, who was planning a last minute out of state move within less than two weeks, another guy who had lost the info and keys to his unit, and didn't have his wallet, and two or three other customers all simultaneously. She was efficient, unruffled, and made each of us feel like we were the only person she planned on dealing with for the entire day. It was amazing. I went from bordering on hysterical when I arrived to having the correct size and type of storage unit rented near where all my stuff is headed in Massachusetts, as well as a game plan, supplies, and a renewed ability to breathe. Kudos to this company for having an excellent employee. I have since been back - she was again doing her thing - but there was other staff there helping take in a delivery. I'd give every interaction, including the phone calls to the MA location an A+ so far. Thanks ESS!

Professional, friendly, engaging and informative are just a few thing that come to mind while writing this review. Suzanne, the assistant manager on duty is an absolute gem. She walked me through the entire process, took me to the unit, and made sure all was clear and understood before leaving me. I have a unit at this storage space and I have not had one complaint! The rates for unit are reasonable, it is a very clean facility as well as safe/secure. After a long day of organizing I was exhausted, the Manager Ralph could tell I was exhausted as well he offered me a ride on the cart to the front office as well as a bottle of water. He was very polite and easy going. As I entered the office I asked an employee named Suzanne about the bubblewrap they had for sale as I just ran out a few minutes earlier, she explained prices as well as the quality of the bubblewrap. She also suggested something called a glass protection kit which I am considering buying due to her great social skills and of course my needs for it. Well to sum up my novel lol ExtraSpace Storage in Groton is the best storage unit facility in the area and trust me I know have been to others in Groton and surrounding areas and have had problems with leaks, prices going up, and rude staff this facility has none of that crap. The BEST place to store your items in the AREA!

In the last couple years I lived in small spaces and moved around a lot in the southeastern CT area. On two separate occasions I chose to go with Extra Space Storage in Groton. The location was super convenient being that I worked in Groton and lived in the surrounding towns. Now that I've gotten a house I no longer have a need for storage but I bet if I ever need storage space again these guys will be the first I call. Everyone I ever dealt with (whether in person when moving in and frequent visits to my stuff, on the phone when my credit card had changed and I forgot to update my information or when I called to close my account) was extremely pleasant and helpful. The place is clean, there are wagons in the indoor portion to help you move your items and I always felt like my stuff was safe and sound.

If you are looking at these reviews, you already know the stress moving can cause! I moved my family from North Carolina to Connecticut and needed to reduce my cost to the moving company. I chose to rent a U-Haul and take a load of things to Connecticut prior to my actual move date. Susan's help was invaluable in this process. She answered all my questions on the phone as I researched storage facilities. She helped me sign a lease (locally) to lock in a lower payment rate that was advertised on the internet, and stayed late on my arrival date to show me to my storage unit, answer questions, and made sure I was comfortable with everything before she left for the day. This facility is safe, clean, and the staff are professional, yet are able to add the personnel touch to your moving experience. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone needing a storage facility.

I visited Extra Space Storage and was amazed on how clean and well kept the whole place was! The property has servalance cameras and locked gates for extra security. I met Ralf and Suzanne and they were wonderful! I would definitely recommend Extra Space Storage in Groton!

I had a great experience with Extra Space Storage. Both Ralph and the girl that work there are both gems! So sweet and kind and make the process as easy as possible! The unit was for sure secure (gated with passcode personalized for you and locked) and was VERY clean. The grounds were well maintained and the inside of my unit and the office store were immaculate. If we need storing again in the future and if anyone I know in the area needs storing, my first call would be to Ralph!

Ralph G. was extremely helpful and a very warm individual. I had the privilege of having to move on the coldest day of the year thus far and he made sure that I stayed warm while waiting for my helper to join me at the storage facility by allowing me to wait inside. I am the letter carrier for this storage facility and it is always clean and Ralf and Kelsy always greet me with a smile. Ralf takes pride in his work. the landscape is always well kept and the inside is immaculate. I have been to other storage facilities and even rented from some but none have been as well kept or had employees as nice and knowledgeable as this one. Highly recommend!!!! Definitely will use it again!!!! It is my second time use extra space storage. Very clean, secure, and reasonable price storage facility . Kelsey and Ralph who work there both are really friendly and helpful. Rental lease is month-to-month and if you know you gonna need for curtain days but less than a month, storage can help you design your rental lease But ONLY ONCE!!!! For example, I rent storage month by month from Dec 1st. After few month, I come back from vacation and find new apartment. The new apartment is ready to move-in on April 15th. I called office let them know that I'm moving out on April 15th. Instead of paying a whole month for April, they helped me rent for 15 days on April. So I saved half month rent which is very smart way to manage, also it is very convenience for customers. BUT they can Only help you doing this ONCE!! Unfortunately, my apartment manager called me few days ahead told me that the apartment can not ready on time, but it will be 100% ready by a following week. So I called Extra Space Storage told them this situation and I want to rent a another week after I used my ONLY ONCE chance for that 15 days. They told me I can not use twice, coz I already used once. BUT They didn't kicked me out immediately. Kelsey and Ralph tried their best to help me out. They gave me an extra week to move out without any charges. But I have to out by end of week, which I did!!! I'm very appreciate!!!! So, CLEAN, SECURE, REASONABLE PRICE, AND EXCELLENT EMPLOYEES STORAGE FACILITY!!! What are you waiting for???!!!! Definitely Extra Space Storage!!!!!!!

I was a customer of Extra Space Storage for 3 months. I came in once, dropped off my motorcycle and left. I came back to the Unit 3 months later and the owner REMEMBERED my name when I wanted to cancel the service. That's truly customer service, these guys will bend over backwards to show you why they are the #1 storage facility in the area. I have had my storage unit for over a year now. Never had any issues. They give plenty of time to pay and the rates are relatively low.....the staff is very friendly and knowledgable and have no problem showing the premise or answering questions. If you choose to store here ask for ralph or kelsey
