Oh my! It's not just a storage place, it's a doorway to whole new fantasy world! The smell of fresh paint and sawdust still hung in the air of Unit 3039. I’d just signed the lease that morning, needing some extra space to stash my burgeoning collection of vintage typewriters. The storage facility was brand new, a gleaming metal rectangle in the middle of nowhere. I was eager to get organized, to finally have a dedicated space for my passion. Armed with a roll of bubble wrap and a label maker, I pushed open the heavy door. The unit was a blank canvas, clean and empty. I started unloading my car, carefully carrying in each typewriter, admiring their gleaming keys and intricate mechanisms. As I moved towards the back of the unit, I noticed something odd. Tucked behind a stray piece of drywall, leaning against the back wall, was a small, ornate door. It was made of dark, polished wood, intricately carved with swirling patterns that seemed to shift and change as I looked at them. It was far too small to be a regular door, barely bigger than a dollhouse entrance. And it certainly didn't belong in a brand-new storage unit. This place was still under construction! Intrigued, I knelt down and examined it closer. There was no handle, no hinges, just the smooth, cool surface of the wood. As I ran my fingers over the carvings, a faint humming sound resonated from within the door. The air around it shimmered, and the sterile, new-building smell of the storage unit was replaced by something else, something…wild. It smelled of pine needles, damp earth, and something indefinable, something magical. It was a stark contrast to the concrete and metal surrounding me. Hesitantly, I pushed against the door. To my surprise, it swung inward, revealing not the back of the storage unit, but a swirling vortex of sapphire blue light. My heart hammered against my ribs. This was impossible. Yet, the air spilling out from the doorway was real, tangible. It brushed against my face, carrying with it the sounds of rushing water and birdsong. It smelled of ozone and something sweet, like blooming jasmine. Driven by a curiosity I couldn't suppress, I crawled through the tiny doorway. The swirling blue light enveloped me, and for a moment, I felt a dizzying sense of disorientation. Then, just as suddenly, it stopped. I found myself standing on the edge of a vast, shimmering lake. Crystalline water lapped against a white sand beach. Towering, bioluminescent trees lined the shore, their leaves glowing with an ethereal light. The air was alive with the chirping of unseen insects and the melodic calls of exotic birds. Gone was the sterile, concrete world of the storage unit. I was somewhere else, somewhere…magical. Before I could fully process the reality of where I was, a sleek, silver fish with iridescent scales leaped from the lake, landing on the sand near my feet. It spoke, its voice a melodic hum. "Greetings, traveler," it said. "You have stumbled upon Lumina." Lumina. The name shimmered like the light on the water, a whisper of magic in the air. I knew, with a certainty that settled deep in my bones, that my life had just taken a sharp, unexpected turn. This wasn't just a storage unit; it was a portal. And I, ordinary me, looking for a place to keep my typewriters, had just stumbled through it. My adventure had begun.

I moved into this property just two months ago, and I am already experiencing deceptive business practices. When I attempted to access my unit, I discovered that my monthly bill had increased to over $225, despite being explicitly promised a rate of $164 for the first six months. This sudden increase is completely unacceptable, as I signed my agreement under the assurance that my rate would remain fixed. When I approached the office for clarification, River, the employee I spoke with, was completely unsympathetic and dismissive of my concerns. Not only did she fail to provide any reasonable explanation, but she also made it clear that she had no interest in addressing the fact that I was misled. This company’s lack of integrity and customer service is appalling. They lure customers in with false promises and then raise prices without warning. I strongly advise others to stay away from this business and seek out a company that values honesty and customer satisfaction. A small, family-owned business would be far more trustworthy than this place.

The security gates have been in the up position at the New London, CT location, seemingly inoperable, for a couple weeks. A month ago I had to wait a half hour for a replacement office employee to show up because the one scheduled had an emergency. Seems these facilities are run on a shoestring budget, but bring in gobs of revenue, including the specific cylinder lock you must have in order to lock any unit. Certainly nothing impressive about this company nor location. Update: Note that the response I received from CubeSmart is identical to at least one other review critical of the New London facility. I don’t get a warm or hopeful feeling they actually care, but will give them the benefit of the doubt and message my concerns to the contact provided. Watch this space!

I should note that Google Maps totally failed to get us there. You might do better searching for the nearby Springfield Suites.

I’ve been trying to reach the district manager for weeks with no success. The manager at the New London facility is the most unprofessional, arrogant and self-righteous person I’ve ever dealt with. The way she speaks to people is disgusting! She thinks she knows everything but when given legitimate reasons for tranferring from one faculty site to another and another time increasing my storage space size, delving into my personal life more the necessary to defend my case, her response was to find another place to store my items. I called customer service directly specifically stating I wanted to speak with upper management and not the store. Three calls and the district manager and the person above the district manager deferred my call back to the store. After 6 years of storing with Cubesmart in Connecticut and the absurd rate increases, the verbal abuse from the store manager was the final straw. I will not give my hard earned money to a company who supports that kind of unprofessionalism from a manager! Found another facility to store my items at which offer a much better rate and don’t increase prices $30-40 every six months.

I'll let you know when I get the notification from you that my refund has been processed as, I changed my mind and requested a refund within an hour of paying for it and we never saw the cube. I am not happy, my husband is 74 years old and I am disabled, this storage is in New London, CT . It's got hundreds of units, deep in a huge bldg up an elevator and through a maze that literally looks like it's straight out of a classic slasher movie ??, we couldn't even get to the 10x10 cube the associate selected for us, when I went to inquire weather or not they had one closer to elevator or on ground level, she tilted her head and stared at me very intimidatingly, with so much venom, I simply asked for a refund to my card and she snarled and hissed and said , "no we dont have anything else!" on February 10th @ 2:54 pm they took the money off the card in a flash, yet on February 10th 3:56 pm they could not put it back on, an hour later . She was mean and staring deep into my eyes as she spit out "it could take 10 to 30 days to put it back", this young lady at Frontage Roads, in New London CT, United States, was extremely rude and threatening and should not have a job like this. I felt abused when I got back in my car, and burst into tears , my elder husband said let's just go , we can call the company tomorrow or Monday??, I would give a minus five if it were possible!! For this location anyway.

THis place was infested with roaches. I moved from a brand new clean apartment complex without a rodent infestation to this unit and within 30 days roaches invaded all of my belongings. I spoke to the manager on duty and he attempted to suggest I may have brought them.

I was trying to have my furniture moved to my home in Arizona but she told me to keep it here and save the money for the transport since I will be relocating again in 5 months. Went to move in from out of state so was unable to look at unit. But figured with all the good reviews itd be fine. I pay $56 just to move in, get there and the unit is stuffed toward the back down halls up elevator and around corners. How is that an easy move in? My stuff wouldn't even fit in the elevator anyway. Open the unit and see rat poison which my kid tried to grab. On top of that the unit is not even a 10 by 10 more like a 8 maybe 9 by 9. So I cancelled he contract and lose my $56 bc they dont return it. So now I feel like what a bunch of crooks! I will definitely not recommend getting this storage unit ever.

Facility is secure, super-clean and easily accessible! Amanda at the front desk was very professional and helpful. The elevator I used to reach my 4th floor unit was centrally located and a nearly straight shot to 3 exterior doors making for a smooth trip in and out with heavy items. Carts were available at all of the exterior doors I used for entry which were very handy. Not once while my items were stored there was I unable to find a cart. Even when 2 large moving trucks with crews were moving items in / out of other units. I would definitely recommend this storage facility to anyone that needed one in or around the New London area.

Nice customer service, unfortunately the storage unid wasn’t what I was expecting, the unid it’s not sealed, it has a web with big holes as Ceiling, so any kind of animal and dust can get in, well... once we drop off our stuff, a mouse ran out from our unid, keep in mind that I didn’t had any mouses in my house and at that time it was the second trip dropping off our stuff, now I’m concerned about my personal property, the location of this cube is new london CT
