I have had previous experiences with CubeSmart storage. They are wonderful. Very nice front desk woman explained everything about what they had available for storage units and prices. It was easy. I am a long time (since 2019) renter of a 10x15 climate controlled unit following a move. People are generally helpful. What is upsetting is that I’ve been hit with regular increases each year, resulting in today’s bill that is now $485 with tax/insurance - over 50% higher than when I started. Now, even with my very high credit score and consistent on time payments, and pleading to lower the rate given my plans to need storage for the next few years, I now have to pay to move out as there are better deals in other areas. If I knew the rates would go up so much, I would have gone elsewhere from the beginning. Very disappointing.

Unit developed a leak in the roof. Damaged several items of furniture with water. No one from CubeSmart management answered any inquiries (either email or phone). On site worker was great, but refusal to discuss reimbursement or even refunding storage fee is making me take my business elsewhere and I advise others to do the same

I’ve spent thousands of dollars in storage at cube smart. I called this morning to see if I could extend the unit a single day as I was having trouble getting out of the unit on the exact date required, esp with it being a holiday week. The employees at the location including the manager said there was nothing they could do, that if they extended it even one day thier jobs would be in jeopardy. Not sure what the point of having a manager is if they are not empowered to solve guests issues and make decisions such as these to ensure customer satisfaction, esp. when the request is such an easy one to accommodate. I’ve had another location give us a little wiggle room in vacating previous storage units in order to move into this one. Definitely a bad taste in my mouth. When I’m looking for storage next time around, I’ll avoid this company.

Cubesmart tries to automate everything but it doesn’t work. Couldn’t find my space and employee just started their 1 hour lunch. Upon return they showed me it was a separate storage lot down the road (not noted on maps, emails, etc). Lock wasn’t in unit per email so I still would have needed to wait for him anyway. Unit had debris from last tenant. When I tried to get my car out of storage a month later (half hour before closing) the gate stated “return during normal hours”. Guess they didn’t reset for daylight savings. Had to stay overnight in CT and lost half a day progress. I called the number posted and it directed me to leave a message for management who never called back. Apparently there is after hours support for cubesmart but I didn’t have the number or didn’t choose correct prompts. Tried calling to voice my complaint and cancel unit but office never answers the phone or calls back. Cubesmart customer support was great but this location not so much.

Absolute worst customer service experience of my life. I reserved my storage unit online after the CubeSmart customer support told me I would be able to use their moving truck. After making the reservation the manager calls me and says they are “phasing out” the moving truck and that I won’t be able to use it. I say, “okay no big deal I’ll figure out something else.” I go to the unit for the first time and cannot find my unit. The address on the reservation is incorrect and I quickly realize my unit is at the “other site” down the road. (Would have been nice to know instead of wasting time). When making the reservation I was not given the option of bringing my own lock. Inside the unit was supposed to be a “welcome bag” with the lock that I am paying $12 a month for. The unit was totally empty, full of dust and cobwebs, and no lock on the outside of the door (supposed to have a temporary lock) or inside the unit. I have now visited the office during business hours THREE TIMES only to find a note on the door saying they will be back soon. After wasting time trying to get this lock, and after leaving several unanswered voicemails, I decided I’m going to go with a different company.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place guaranteed me a moving truck the day prior to my move, and was planning on utilizing this truck to move my storage out of the unit. The day of my move (the day I was GUARANTEED a moving truck), I showed up and no one was in the office. I tried for HOURS to get in contact with customer service (who then reported neither the district, regional, or general manager were answering their phones). It has been two weeks since my move and I have yet to hear back from any of the managers regarding this matter. There have been multiple times I have tried to go into the office to ask questions while renting a storage unit, and the door will be locked and the office shut down in the middle of the day with no sign. No one will answer the phone to even allow me to cancel my lease for the upcoming month. You would think as a national company, you would be able to rely on them for your moving needs. I ended up paying movers for nothing, because I was unable to move that day due to this company. GO to uhaul or another storage units around the area. Do not rely on them because they are never in the office.

Worst regional management. Works from home and doesn't care for the safety of their employees. 14" of snow 1/4 mile visibility. 45mph on the interstate in a truck to rescue an employee that wasn't allowed the day off... I would NEVER do business with such irresponsible people! Much better places locally without the nationwide corporate irresponsibly. P.S.. The climate controlled storage units leak P.P.S. The regional manager told her she was going to try and get the IT department to get my review deleted... I posted a picture of the conditions too... Look for the truck in the snow.

I chose well and no longer think one storage facility is much like another. So important is the person who manages the facility. Candace goes above and beyond, always cheerful and incredibly conscientious. She was very supportive when she found that covid-19 was forcing me to stressfully manage the move from Florida. She guided me in selecting me the right size unit for the contents of my home, Then when I decided on two units, she searched for two close together. Once the movers arrived, she made sure they put down dustcovers. After they left, she checked the units and called me about items she found outside the unit, setting them aside for me after I identified them. Finally I'm breathing easily, confident my possessions are safely stored. I won't recommend my movers, but Candace and CubeSmart of Old Saybrook.have my highest recommendation.

Shame on your group trying to tell me that giant puddle on the floor of the climate controlled unit it was a stain and when I shined my flashlight on it to prove it was a puddle of water you had the nerve to tell me it was humidity. Then you call your boss who can’t see it and I can hear her say in the background “tell her its humidity” Unprofessional and unbelievable! I just drove two hours in that extreme heat with my personal possessions and you try to tell me it’s humidity. I hope your corporate office Reads these reviews. I have rented two storage units from Cubesmart in Old Saybrook. In both cases, Amanda handled the transaction for me. She is the consummate professional - clearly explained the terms of the lease, got me setup with everything I needed, previewed the unit with me, and provided a few pointers about use of storage units. I have done business at another Cubesmart locations, and just trust me on this - the Old Saybrook site is *extremely* well run compared to the other site. The site is clean, offers easy access to both Rt-9 and I-95, and as well, is very well monitored with onsite security. A++ to the team at this Cubesmart site. Keep up the good work!

I have been a customer here since May 2010 (two units, one climate-controlled, one not), and the staff were always polite, professional and responsive -- I can't complain. But they also always stuck to the "job description", and never went, and certainly did not offer to go, beyond the job description. Again, nothing that could form the basis of a complaint, but not endearing either. That all changed when Amanda came on board. She is great! She sticks to the rules and does what she has to in order to protect the company (and, often, the customer), but she also recently showed me she not only heard what I was saying but also listened and really got it, really understood. And she *did* go out of her way (and quickly at that) to provide a solution that worked and made a customer (me!) happy. Her professionalism and her devotion to customers shone through, and she deserves every single bit of the five star rating above and this review. Great job, Amanda! Thank you again!

Lack of transparency. When a new renter signs up, they are given a promotional rate. However they are not informed after the 4th month the rate increase to the current standard rate. This is a business practice, not based on market & random as explained when it happens. With transparency & honesty I probably would still be a customer, but this consistently happened over 3 units I had at this facility, always on the 4th month…..so in my opinion this is a bait and switch.

The manager was as helpful as she could be, but we wish the company would have given us a discount beyond what everyone gets when signing up for a new unit. The new unit was clean and she did a great job of locating our new unit directly across from our old unit, making the move easier.

I have been using a self storage unit for years and decided to look into moving my possession into a different unit closer to where I live. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I contacted CubeSmart as Amanda made my transition very easy. Not only was I saving money every month but when I met her to view the facility I immediately noticed how clean the office and both storage facility grounds were. I was equally happy with the cleanliness and condition my storage unit was. I felt very comfortable moving my possessions here and knew the customer service was going to be great because Amanda had gone over all the details of the rental and answered all my questions thoroughly. It's obvious that Amanda takes great pride in her work and represents the company with professionalism. It's also nice to know that she or another representative is available on site throughout the week so if I have any questions or needs I can speak to a person not just leave a message and wait for a call back. Thanks for a great experience. I will recommend your company and facility to all I know!

Amanda Ort at the CubeSmart in Old Saybrook, CT was a life-saver. I needed to organize a move out of our apartment in NY to a storage facility in CT. She was extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with. The storage cube was clean and easy for the movers to access for the load in. Overall we had a very good experience and I would recommend CubeSmart based on our experience there thus far.

Easy and convenient. Moving for the first time in 39 years can be an unsettling and burdensome process. The folks at CubeSmart in Old Saybrook made At least one part of it (and a very important part for us) easier and as stress-free as it could be. Their concern and professionalism was evident throughout the rental process And we have the right size storage space in a clean, secure and convenient location now that will serve us for as long as we need.

Cube Smart on 167-3 Elm Street is the best. They very patiently reviewed all their storage unit options with us to make sure we had the right size unit. They also stayed late to welcome us and make sure we were happy with the unit we had reserved. They could not have been more professional or nicer.

I've been using CubeSmart for the past 3 winters to park my car. It is located a convenient distance from my house so I can walk there if I have to. The folks who work there are especially courteous and helpful. This winter I needed a ride into town after parking my car for the first time and the desk guy drove me into town so I didn't have to walk on a cold day. I appreciated that extra bit of helpfulness!

Been using Cube Smart on Elm Street in Old Saybrook for several years. 5 stars definitely go to the staff who are always friendly, remember you by name, and always ask how you are doing, how is the family, etc. Never had a problem with any of my units. My one complaint is they raise the rent by 10 percent every year. I don't know of anyone that gets a 10 percent raise in pay, so it is a never ending battle with these yearly increases.

They do what they say... it's a storage place. I would say it's secure, cameras are there and it's well lit and fenced off with barbed wire. I've seen leaf collecting/mowing crews there and it's pretty clean. I had a billing issue when I first got my bin, but Debra who watches the cameras in the office refunded me and so it really wasn't an issue. As far as storage places go its got everything I need.

The staff is always welcoming and helpful. My mother has been storing here for years and Kevin and Debra went the extra mile last summer to facilitate moving her two cubes into one. This year I got my own Cube and there was an issue with some things left in a bin that I was being shown, Kevin got it broom swept and ready for later that day and even called to make sure it all went smooth the next day. The only complaint I have is that the rent is so high and goes up every year, but I know that's a corporate thing, and if I move out for that, I would happily come back later. **Update: Just closed two units and consolidated into one smaller, they didn't have one nearby, but called me when they did and I am now saving a lot of $$ each month.
