At CubeSmart, our extra large boxes measure 24″ x 18″ x 24″ and are great for items that are lightweight but bulky, like outerwear and blankets.

Our small boxes are 16″ x 12.5″ x 12.5″ and can be used for heavy items like books or small items like knickknacks and picture frames.

In between those two sizes we have a medium box (18″ x 18″ x 16″) and large box (24″ x 18″ x 18″).

We also offer wardrobe boxes, which are 24″ x 18″ x 39″ and include a hanger bar for easily transporting clothing.

And our dish pack box, at 18″ x 18″ x 28″, is ideal for glassware when used with the dish/glass partition kit.

Determining the number of boxes you need for storage is a little bit science and little bit art. One of the simplest ways to help estimate the number of boxes you need is to go room-by-room and envision what needs to go in a box. Remember there are different sized boxes and boxes for different purposes as well. Some experts say to estimate 15 boxes per room. Some tips to help you get started are:

  • Estimate one box for every shelf or drawer in the room. Heavier items should go in a smaller boxes.

  • You’ll need specialty boxes for televisions, artwork, and mirrors.

  • Wardrobe boxes typically hold 2 feet of hanging items each, so measure the length of your closets.

  • Don’t forget to account for seasonal clothes.

  • Estimate one dish pack box and partition kit per shelf of dishware.

  • Don’t forget about the items in plain sight such as décor and books on coffee tables, end tables, and counter tops.

  • It’s always better to have more boxes to pack than less to prevent them being too heavy and items breaking mid-move.
