A mouse problem has taken root and it never ends. The staff here is great, the location is ideal, and we were happy for a long time - now we are on our THIRD unit in approx 18 months (all different floors) and every single one has gotten mice. We only store plastic bins and paint cans in ours and they are still in there, nibbling away the paint labels for nests! I’m so annoyed to leave but until they get their pests under control, don’t rent a unit here.

Absolutely recommend! We went to the location on New York Ave NE and it’s everything we wanted and more! Desmond is amazing!! He showed us around, helped with booking, explained the difference in cubes/pricing. We left with a clear understanding of how everything works and we feel like like our moving day will be a breeze. Also, their current promotions are fantastic, so if you need a rental unit to store your stuff, definitely go with CubeSmart.

This place has a mouse problem and the GM does not care at all. Des will not be accommodating and is very rude. Do NOT rent here. Public Storage around the corner is a way cheaper and cleaner facility. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

The facility also feels safe. It's not the easiest location to get into and out of, but once you're inside the gate it feels secure.

I have been a customer of cubesmart on NY Ave NE Washington DC for 5+ years and wanted a better rate on my unit. Des is a sweetheart, he was able to change my unit SAME size for a better amount with big savings. Des knowledge, customer service, hospitality, positive attitude, and smile was priceless. Our move in was a complete success! Des, Robert and Mason went out of their way to assist us and answer all our questions. We had a concern about the space as we didn’t think it was big enough. Thankfully Des had an empty storage space and made a quick switch for us. The location is extremely clean and well lit. We like the extra security provided with codes for each door. I WOULD NOT RENT WITH THIS FACILITY. I was setting up my unit and the representative at the facility kept speaking to me as if I was a child. I asked him to stop, and he immediately told me that he was going to cancel my policy. Nothing warranted him cancelling my reservation for a unit. I asked to speak with his manager, and I am still waiting on a phone call. The facility is extremely unprofessional and customer care is not a priority. I would steer away from the facility if you can.

Wouldn’t work here , I’ve never worked here but I did sit through a 15 minute conversation about a co worker , it was 2 males in office on (12/2 )talking about a woman poorly. I was planning on renting here but after hearing how poorly they spoke about that woman I’d rather not if you talk about your own team members like this image what they say about the customers . Convenient location and great staff, but the facility has a creepy vibe - there are a lot of odd people doing questionable things in the odder hours. Also, someone must have been storing food items in one of the nearby units because we had mice nest in one of our crates (we had nothing remotely edible stored and didn't have any such issues the first nine months). Overall, a mixed experience, but perhaps par for the course with such facilities.

was never giving the option upfront when signing the storage agreement to use my own home owners insurance policy, that information was not disclosed, it wasn't until later toward the end of my rental experience is when I found out that I could, and how that came about I tried to exercise my policy do to mice evasion there were droppings, urine , and nesting throughout my unit after about a year there about of leasing the space. Management instructed that I contact the insurance policy company ,who sent me a bogus generic letter stating all the items my policy did not cover "after the fact" what a ripoff . The cost for the unit and the increases were not justified based on the level of services received and it should've been and not just solely based on the agreement, The elevators were unclean, my floor was unclean mice feces was everywhere. Management was under staff, uninformed for a lack of better words and just incapable of during a satisfactory job. This is why I will not recommend anyone.

I’ve had issues with this location from the start. I’ve only been there a little over a month so far. But lack of professionalism and consistency is dumbfounding. I had rats or mice enter my unit I spoke to the front desk agent she did nothing to my knowledge about it. I emailed the store and didn’t hear back from anyone until I called and promised to take further legal actions. This place is a joke at best.

Our family leased 2 units at this location. We have never been treated so outwardly rude by a representative of a business as we have during our one month initial rental period. We arrived to our storage unit for the very first time, asked how we should enter the building to access the unit, where to park, etc. Chantel was working in this location's office that day. We asked her how to get to the floors where our storage units were located. She responded, 'You can't see the elevators? They're right there! Seriously?' Rolled her eyes, shook her head at us. Makes me so sad that a business representative for a so-called reputable storage facility felt the need to take her impatience out on us (paying customers) that day. But that was not the only day. We'd called the previous day to confirm the storage facility's office hours. The staff member who answered the phone responded, 'You can't keep calling here all the time!' Needless to say, we moved our belongings out of one unit, and will move the remainder out of the second unit asap. Our movers had recommended CubeSmart to our family, but we will spread the word that this location should be avoided.

I reserved and paid for everything online. I didn't check my email for all the steps to take afterwards, so I can't blame CubeSmart staff for that. Not trying to find anything wrong but if customers don't return carts or flatbeds back to the loading dock, it would be nice for the staff to make a run periodically when there are none available and no one is unload/loading so others may use them. The storage seems clean and well kept, however, this was my first day and month. Will do a review later when I have experienced the storage location after some time.

Extremely rude employees, manager could care less about the facility. Elevators are never working at this location, therefore your never able to access your unit. Bathroom door lock is broken and the homeless are practically using the facility to wash up and sleep. One gentleman had his unit door open and he had it set up like a studio apartment. This specific location is like a revolving hotel for the homeless.

I left all my stuff there for 11 months (so far), and when I returned everything was in perfect condition, no dust, no critters, no moisture or damage of any kind. The facility is conveniently located and priced around the same amount as other places. It's clean enough but the one star review is based on the unprofessional treatment I received from the manager, Shantell, of the store when I went to secure my storage rental on move in day. I had never experienced anything like this before in my life and had I not had a rented truck (with a deadline I couldn't extend) with my belongings already with me I would not have rented at this facility. For full disclosure, I did file a complaint with Cube Smart and the District Manager called me and apologized for my experience and said he would "address it with the manager of the store" and for me to call him should I have any additional issues. For the price and the plethora of other storage facilities available, I would not recommend this place because of the disrespect you may experience when trying to pay for your unit or resolve any other problems.

The floor that my unit was on alwaysssss smelled like weed. It was so bad at one point that a few of my items smelled like it. My unit always had an excess of rat droppings in it. I wish I had taken a photo once I got my things out. Then, there’s always a random drunk or high person strolling the facility. Overall, it’s not safe. All of these were not worth the money of me keeping my items at this location.

Biggest drawback I discovered for storage is they fine you $250 if you dispose of things on their property.. Better idea to just charge a small fee that cover disposal costs but maybe they didn't think thru this thing from the consumer perspective or they just don't care.. Clean facility, but not enough dollys to move your stuff, easy to remove locks when keys lost, but I personally say if you can get around it storage isn't the best way to keep your things.. Almost cheaper to rent a studio apartment, pay a friend, or something at least they won't threaten to auction your things.. Overall if I wasn't shipping overseas I wouldn't have bought into this but I will never be so gullible again

I’ve had a unit since February 2020 and I have never had any issues with accessing my unit or with feeling like it was not in a safe or clean location. After 17 months of storing my items and being excited to move into my apartment, I am told by my movers that they found mice in my unit. There’s also mice droppings and urine on a lot of my stuff. I literally have had to throw away most of my items (furniture, artificial plants, tvs, bed, etc) for fear of what may have happened to it. When most of my items got into my apartment, you could actually see the droppings and what looked like urine almost everywhere. I am devastated.

Using this place has been a breeze. They make it easy to park in a covered area and unload right next to the elevator. You have to use your code for everything (e.g., using the elevator), which makes it very safe, but it's kind of annoying after a while. There are a few carts you can use to move your stuff. There aren't many of them, but I've always been able to find one, even when it's busy. Only think I'll take complain about is getting in. New York is divided six lanes and you can't turn onto it from Bladensburg. It takes some creative driving to get there, but once you figure it out, it's easy enough. All in all, the price was reasonable and, aside from the issue noted above, loading and unloading seems much more straightforward than at other locations. Definitely recommend it.

Came in and the office worker had a horrible attitude. Management staff is great- however this location Elevators break a lot- I felt bad for movers there moving items up to higher floors. Also hand-trucks are broken. This location has enough clients to keep such things in working order.

I would not recommend the CubeSmart on NY AVE in DC. I stored my luggage in a locker for 2 months, and when I came back to retrieve my items there were rat droppings EVERYWHERE. I didn't even take some of my stuff because it was so disgusting.

The ladies at the front desk were awesome! They all seemed very knowledgeable about the storage spaces and products that Cubesmart offers. They let us choose between three great insurance coverage options 2,000, 3,000, 5,000.. suiting just about everyone’s needs. We got the tour of the facility and was very impressed on the cleanliness. Hand truck push carts available (when not in use by others) to help with your move-in. Overall, great experience and wonderful staff.

I just checked in yesterday and while the website states that the first month is free, there are hidden fees - an admin fee, a fee for a lock that no one told me I needed (could have brought my own!), etc. Came out to a total of $57.09 after all. This is really poor customer service, I should have been made aware of this if not on the website during one of the calls. In addition, the email asking for feedback has a link to a FB page that doesn't exist... The facility itself is clean, but customer service overall could have been better.

This cube has the best customer service ever I must say from the online booking to arriving and being assisted by Frank to the inspection of the unit. Not only was the process painless but between Frank and Frankie they were a pleasure to work with even after Frank asked me not once but twice if I was sure on my sizing for my unit .....Lo and behold I had to return the following day for a additional size and even that was a breeze with assistance from Frankie CubeSmart!!! Definitely has some great workers keep up the work guys its customer service like this that truly makes the difference

Mr. Frank Simpson was very nice. He explained everything to me. As we were walking to my storage unit, he began showing me and explain to me how to get in and out. The procedure for after hours as well as the daily hours for both the office hours and the storage hours. The price, late fees, and the name of the insurance company that is used by the company. He showed me the storage unit that I am renting. Since I purchased a lock at their location, he showed me how to ensure that my storage is locked and unlock as well as showing the inside of the storage unit. After going back downstairs. He gave me my numbers. To ensure that I understood, it was my turn to use my code to unlock the gate, to get into the storage building and use my code in the elevator. He answered all my questions. I appreciate the kindness and mannerism that he gave me. I would like to thank him for his time.

The manager was a pleasure to work with... very helpful, something that was sorely missing from the last storage facility I rented from. There were plenty of carts available to move items which was much appreciated. In moving from my last storage facility it took me 10 minutes just to find one and it had a flat spot on one wheel which made moving it when loaded almost impossible. I'm VERY pleased!

The staff at the Self Storage Zone on New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC was courteous and helpful when our daughter moved out of her dorm in May and when she returned to her dorm in August. The unit was clean and easyto get to. The delivery option from the storage unit back to the dorm was a great asset. Courtney C. went out of his way to accomodate setting up a time for delivering stuff from the storage unit to our daughters dorm at Gallaudet University. We found the prices to be reasonable. We would highly recommend Self Storage Zone on New York Avenue, NE, Washington, DC.

Great customer service and great for students in college. They pick up and drop off your belongings from and to your dormitory/apt in the DC area. Michael Bernard, who is in charge of the student storage, is great at the New York Ave location in DC. They work with you with scheduling your pick up/drop off times and dates. They are also pretty fast with the pick up and drop off as well. I definitely recommend this storage company to any one in need of storage especially during the summer when students are no longer in school!
