Posting a new review based on recent experiences renting a new unit from CubeSmart in Sanford. Overall a good experience, great in some area, just OK in others. First, the original store manager, James, is back and he has been wonderful. He’s a friendly guy and will listen to your concerns and do what he can to help you. CubeSmart is lucky to have him because, for me and many other folks looking for rental units, customer service at the local level is very important. I’ll pay higher rent at a place with a good manager and good customer service before I’ll go to a cheaper place with bad management/service. James has helped me with several issues and has always been understanding. So that’s the good stuff. The not so good stuff is the fact that CubeSmart is a big corporate business and it’s slow/difficult to get them to fix things and just do general upkeep/maintenance at the facility. I don’t think this is the fault of James or any of the local staff. Having worked in a similar industry, I know that fixing stuff and spending money on upkeep/maintenance has to get approved by corporate before anything can be done. And they just seem to very slow/resistant to spend money on fixing up the facility. I’ve had light fixtures that have been out over my unit for months now. And it’s not just bad bulbs. The fixture itself is bad. The terminals are all burned and charred. I had to pull the bulbs out due to fire risk. I talked to James and he is working on it but it’s just a slow corporate process. So I’ve had a dark storage unit for a while now. That’s a bit of a safety issue. My hope is that CubeSmart corporate reads this review and gives approval to fix these things. Lights are a basic necessity, not a luxury. But overall I have to say that CubeSmart is decent. I don’t want to seem like I’m bashing them. They have good rates, the facility is generally clean and in good shape, and they will typically work with you on issues. Especially if you have a manager like James at your particular location. I think corporate just needs to refocus their efforts on the basics… customer service, fixing/maintaining the facility, etc. If they do that they will gain (and/or retain) customers at a higher rate.

Terrible and rude customer service. Will never use them for any storage services and will tell my family and friends never to use them. There are other storage facilities in Sanford and Lake Mary that have better pricing and better customer service. Also, they have extremely limited parking. People must be desperate to use this facility. My friend is going to cancel their account with this location. They need to fire the guy running this place. They also have several terrible reviews from other customers. Roaches and rat droppings! Really??

THIS COMPANY PREFERRED TO LOSE $700 FROM MY 2 UNITS THAN LOWER THE RENT INCREASE, I had to move because the rent increases were random and extremely high, for a facility with, lots of roaches and of course the smell of roach poison, there were pellets of some kind, I thought they were insect eggs, but I googled it to find out they were rat excrement, they were all over my boxes. Already my new storage facility promise a way better experience.

If you are looking for "Long Term Storage" I do not recommend CubeSmart! The main reason is that they keep raising the rent every six to twelve months. As a retired military member on a fixed income, I just couldn't afford it anymore.

This location is clean but lacks 24 hr access. Also, they neglected to tell me when I moved in that they RAISE your rental rate EVERY 6 months! No rhyme or reason they just do! I started in the low 100’s for a climate controlled 10x10 unit and 2.5 years later I’m up to $170 a month and due for an increase in March!!! I called customer service to ask about this and they said talk to your property manager. I spoke with him and explained we plan on being there for about 10 yrs he said “sorry, I don’t mean to be rude but you can always move out” that’s who you have representing you CUBE SMART! I am taking my business to extra storage which has great reviews for 102$ a month for the same size unit and was told by corporate they don’t raise rates every 6 months! PEACE OUT CUBE SMART... going to get real customer service else where!

Manager James Martin was very helpful opening the roll up door to our unit. The movers had stacked a queen size mattress improperly in our unit and when the roll up door was closed the mattress fell on the floor jamming the roll up door closed. James worked the mattress free of the door so we could open the unit. I had just had surgery and could not help him. He went well beyond the call of duty.

Reserved a unit online, set a date to move in. Went over pricing with person on the phone. When the move in date came, went to the facility. Person I spoke to was not there. Other person pulled up the reservation, went through all of the paperwork, then said "The computer is not letting me honor the internet special price on that unit". He offered no explanation or effort to honor the agreement. He said I could go ahead and rent it for the "Regular" price, and we could work on it at a future date. Very dishonest and deceptive. I drove 1 mile down the street, rented a unit, and that company honored their (same) internet offer. I will never use Cubesmart.

I’ve revised this review twice now. Myself, my wife, and my good friend have all rented units from CubeSmart over the years and have generally had good experiences. I mention this to let you know that I’ve been a long-time customer (even before it was CubeSmart) and have seen the changes over the years. Quick recap, my first review was several years ago and was 5 stars. Good customer service and good rates. The facility has always been pretty clean and reasonably well lit. No problems. Rates occasionally went up over time but nothing crazy. My second review was a couple months ago and was drastically different. It was 1 star and I was singing a much different tune. CubeSmart started jacking up rates significantly every 6 months and the customer service was just plain bad. When I called to speak to the manager, I felt like I was just a number to him with no regard to my concerns or the fact that I’ve been a loyal customer for years. The facility also wasn’t as clean as it used to be and things like doors and the main gate break down and don’t get fixed quickly - very slowly in fact. Now to my current review. Back up to 3 stars. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars. Wish I could give 3.5 but Google doesn’t give you that option. Anyway, the district manager, Boris, reached out and totally restored my faith in CubeSmart’s ability to provide good customer service. He listened to my concerns, was understanding, reviewed my account, and was able to reverse the most recent rate increase on my account (which was significant, around $70). He showed that he valued me as an individual customer and I really appreciated that. The current cleanliness of the place is decent. The interior halls could use a good sweep though. They went through a while back and replaced all the pull ropes on the doors. Lighting is the same… good, but not great. Currently, the main gate is broken (April 2022). It has been that way for a few days now. So the gate is just wide open 24 hours a day, which is an obvious security risk. I spoke with the local manager and he didn’t seem concerned at all. I asked if they are going to start manually closing/locking the gate at 10pm (which is normally when the gate locks you out) since the repair is taking a while to get done. He said no and just left it at that. I’m not a fan of an attitude like that. Customer service at the local level (at this location anyway, 3508 S Orlando Dr, Sanford, FL) is still not that good. If the gate isn’t fixed in the next day or so I might have to reach out to the district manager again. I’m not comfortable with the gate just being left wide open all the time. Every other place I’ve rented from, if the main gate is broken, they will walk the lot to make sure everybody is out at night, and then manually lock the gate until morning. They follow the same normal gate hours. But apparently not here. So that is my current review. I’ll continue to update this review as things unfold. I hope this review has helped!

My experience with Cube Smart's Sanford, FL location was exceptional as a direct result of Manager, James Martin. He is a true professional who made me feel more like family than a temporary customer. He is an asset to the Cube Smart organization; one that I hope they will treasure.

Judith, the store manager at this location, made my family's experience with Cubesmart both excellent and hassle-free!! The unit was clean and the surrounding complex well-lit and secure. I will definitely be recommending Cubesmart to any friends and family members who need short or long-term storage!

We rent a unit at this facility for my job and every time we've had to call, email or visit the experience has been exceptional. In most cases I've dealt with the general manager Ms. Judy who is always friendly, helpful and very professional.

I have to say this is one of the best storage experiences i have ever had. It was truley cleanest and the emplyees were the best. Always smiling and willing to help you. I highly recomend renting a storage unit from them. I know i will be back if i have to rent another unit.

Filled out a reservation online and when I got there they said they no longer had the reservation available. They wanted to set me up with an outside nonclimate control unit that was bigger and have me pay more than the reservation. No very impressed with the service.

I only came here because the store the manager(date 12/03/17) told me I would have access to a van to move my things when I left, low and behold 6 months later I go to move my things and ask for the van and the new store manager(date 6/10/18) tells me they never had a van at this location. I asked If there was anything he could do to maybe give me the current month free or just a discount for being misguided by the previous manager and he flat out told me NO! Sorry you were mislead if you read the contract you would see there is no van. This place is empty promises and ends up charging you more than any other place in the current area my 5 by 10 after 2 months costs $86 dollars a month what a rip off not to mention being lied to do not do business at this location.

I was helping someone out by trying to catch up their storage because there was a lien for an auction on their storage. The employees were not helpful and refused to waive any fees. BUT were willing to waive 1 late fee if she moved out the same night...within 1 hr. Whenever I decide to move I will never use this storage company and I never would recommend anyone else to because God forbid you ever fall on really really hard times they will not work with you. We even came in a week ago to try and make arrangements and were told the general manager would call us back and it never happened. Her excuse was she didn't get the message from the now ex employee

Attendant was friendly and even gave me and my family some bottled water. I rented a climate controlled until and everything worked. Place was clean and the price was as quoted. I would recommend them

Never had any issues storing stuff here. There seem to be cameras around the units and at the office. The gate is open from 6am-10pm, so people can get in before or after work. The only issue is the jerks who just come carelessly speeding through like there's no one else around.

Unsecured property , No security cameras, the fence in the back of the property is full of holes for thief's to break in , My unit and my neighbor unit was broken to two times in one week.
