Walked into cube smart on a last minute notice with a reservation I booked on the way there heading from public storage where I felt like I was getting beat around the bush and I found CubeSmart online with similiar pricing and booked the reservation upon arrival I was greeted by an actual employee unlike public storage. Beware of FREQUENT and LARGE rate increases. They have no intention of keeping customers for long term. Spotty office hours (come in when they want too). I would not recommend. Found new company with double the space for half the price.

I do not recommend using cube smart they advertise “special rates” to get you to move in then immediately over double the price knowing most people will stay as it’s extremely inconvenient and costly to move all of your things to a new storage facility. In a year and a half mine went through 3 price increases. The locations are ran by awful staff and the doors and gates are constantly broken to get into the building. Stay away.

Not a costumer friendly location… everything there is to give the paying costumer the worst experiences around … this location the staff is rude … the bathrooms are always locked , therefore if you’re moving around a lot and have to go to the restroom good luck..they lock it , the doors inside lock after every time you go inside ,therefore forcing you to enter the password every single time you unload something from your brochure while your unloading a truck to get in … unlike some other other storage facility’s in town that offer a bathroom, that keep the doors open automatically to be able to move your things inside smoothly.. don’t expect it to be an easy move in there … the lights inside the your unit turn off every 10 minutes so if your organizing your things while your moving into the storage unit good luck seeing where your walk-in g … this property is so cheap that the light turn off and you have to walk-in the dark to the nearest sensor so the lights can come back on .. they expect you to move everything from your house inside the unit in 10 minutes before your walking in the dark , falling and tripping over everything,my grandma fell and got hurt because this property doesn’t care about the safety of their costumers so they keep the lights on a time setting that gives you no time to get your things inside the unit to store… if you leave the property at 10pm the door is automatically locked and your in there, they don’t give you a 15 minute grave période to get out like the other better storage facilities in the area that care about the safety, experience and well being of their costumers who pay for these units with their hard earned money that’s not appreciated by the staff and this property. I do not recommend this facility is dark at night no lights In the area and it’s not located in a safe area.. you’re risking your life moving and storing your things at this location… stay away from this place at all cost .. they’re the most expensive and rudest unsafest facility in town , stay away you’ve been warned ..don’t get injured walking down a dark hall way and down the stairs in the dark because they rather safe money than keeping the lights on for longer like other safe caring facilities do..

I leased a climate controlled unit here a week ago. The manager showed me the location of my unit and gave me my lock and keys. I left that day and did not lock the unit because I had not put anything in it yet. I came today with loaded trucks to put my belongings in the unit only to find my access code was not working. I called the call center and was informed that my unit had been cancelled because there was no lock on it. Apparently this is a requirement and on the lease. I can accept that. What I cannot believe is that no one called me. No emailed me. Decent human courtesy would have been to call me and let me know that if I didn't lock the unit by the end of business day the unit would be cancelled. No one ever reached out to me. Update for transparency: Corporate contacted me and gave me a full refund and apologized for the lack of communication. I appreciate that.

UPDATE: Cubesmart district manager followed up with me after reading this review. They were able to resolve this issue beyond expectation. I had no problems with this location and would use again! Cancelling my unit was very confusing/frustrating. I tried to create an account in the app, which it would not let me do. I then created an account online with no ability to cancel there. I emailed to let them know I wanted to cancel before following month. I received an email saying that was okay. I was moved out well before the date. I did forget to remove the lock, but instead of being contacted I was simply charged for an additional month. No longer in town, I called to ask if they could simply remove the lock. I was told there was nothing that could be done. I will say Jackie was kind and polite throughout, but I felt it was clear I was no longer vacating the unit based on my email and expected more help in this situation.

Update 12-21!! Another HUGE rate increase, only 6 months later - again! Of course rates aren't guaranteed. NOW it's clear - they lead you in with a low rate, then hit you up BIG TIME! Now going from $219 to $282 !!! A WHOPPING 28.8% increase!!! So this is twice in the same year and I've gone from $180 to $282/month. Highway robbery! Do you think this is their strategy to get renters? Of course it is!! Watch for rate increases! It's a clean place, but there's not much to review about a storage facility, except rates and management. The management is nice enough, though we've never spoken since the lease agreement signing. After 5 months, I received a small post card in the mail simply stating "Your rent will increase effective June 28. The new rate is below." My small unit is going from $180 per month plus taxes, to $219 per month. The rate was high from the start, and then BOOM! Five months later a whopping 21.7% increase out of the blue! Small increases I can see, rent never stays the same over time, of course. Costs rise and that's passed on to the customer, though at this rate, it's almost price-gouging. Sign any lease knowing the rate will jump and factor that into your first year cost. Not a happy camper.

So far, I am not impressed. I am scheduled to move stuff into the unit tomorrow so, stopped in today to make sure I had the lock and location. Arrived to a “be back at 12:30” sign on the door. Three people working at this facility but apparently they all go to lunch at the same time. The unit is clean but the door does not stay up which, they said they would fix by tomorrow so, we’ll see.

Very clean storage but need freight size elevators for the units on the second floor that may have large furniture to store. And keep the sensor light on in the stairway longer than you do. Ended up falling because the light went out and it's pitch black in the stairway.

Worst experience ever. We are trying to get our belongings out of storage and moved to Alaska. We hired a private moving freight company and CubeSmart won't allow the moving company's truck on the premises. As a back up plan we rented moving PODS that we could load up and then that moving company comes and picks them up but they won't allow those on the premises either. CubeSmart is expecting us to rent a UHAUL, load all our stuff up and then drive the UHAUL truck to the moving facility and unload it and then reload it onto the moving company's truck. Our moving company even called the CubeSmart managers (Brian and Jackie) and both were extremely rude and said they would deny entry of our private moving company's truck. Corporate CubeSmart is trying to help but says the managers of the facility are terrible and that they haven't ever experienced anything like that before. This location will allow junky cars, boats and trailers to be stored on the premises but not customers who are trying to move their items out of storage. What a huge disappointment and very frustrating.

Like several other renters that have left a review, I rented a unit (10x12) for several years. Every six months the rent just kept going up. I can see if they just need to increase a little to keep up with the competition, but the last increase put my unit at $215/mo!!! I did reach out to the manager about the increases and was pretty much told that it’s part of the business. Well, it’s not. It’s a scam. Steer clear if you need to rent a place for longer than 6 months...it’ll break the bank.

I had a 10x22 unit for 4 years and they kept raising the rent every 6 months after the first year. The funny thing is at the time when I signed the contract, they warned me that "other" places raise the rent but they won't. Then earlier this year I downsized the unit to 10x12 to save some money. They rented this smaller unit to me without even opening it up. The insulation from the ceiling was falling down. They also raised the price of the smaller 10x12 unit 6 months later (now). I don't understand how they can justify to keep increasing the rent so often.

I spoke with a representative about moving into a Storage and was given information on the cost of moving in and a date. It was not discussed with me that there is a $12 minimum insurance requirement, nor was there a courtesy call to notify what time the office closes on the day I was to move in. Some of that may be faulted on my behalf for not checking but I figured someone would have said something as they knew what day I was to move in. I'm giving a 3 star rating (which is an increase from my original decision) due to the kindness and helpfulness of the young man in the office at the time.

This was my first experience renting a storage space. Bridget with CubeSmart was outstanding. She took the time to thoroughly explain everything to me and even made a few phone calls to get me a discount on the first month's rent despite a glitch in their software which otherwise would have prevented it. The CubeSmart facility in Sanford is secure, clean, well-lit, and easy to get in and out of. First impressions - I'm very pleased so far.

Just moved into a very nice and clean and well maintained storage unit here at CubeSmart Self Storage. After reviewing and comparing storage units throughout the Sanford Downtown area (5 mile radius from the Historic District) I chose to rent at this CubeSmart location after meeting with Bridget, the manager who was professional and cordial, but most Importantly a just a plain nice person to talk with. She answered all of my questions completely and she seemed sincere in her description. My unit is accessible with two large doors on each end, I bought the optional insurance, the pricing was acceptable, and the location is exceptional. Good job Bridget.

We needed a storage unit quickly and CubeSmart Self Storage had a 5x12 unit available in our price range. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The hours for access are excellent (6am - 10pm) and the price is very reasonable. They are so helpful and set up auto billing for me so I won't miss a payment. I highly recommend them.

I visit this location every month to pay the rent for a family member and I was very disappointed when I visited last week to make the payment. I arrived behind another family and when I stepped in the door behind them I got a personal phone call so I stepped outside the door for a quick conversation giving them time to finish their business. The clerk came to the door and began locking the door and I said to her I'd like to pay a bill. She hand gestured me and continued locking the door. I stood there for approximately 8 minutes. The family she was helping left through the back to the outside then she returned to the door and opened it and let me in saying only I am sorry about that. The time of operation on the door says 9:30 - 6:00 PM. Many times I have driven there to make a payment and there is a sign in the window saying what time they will return and I have had to wait or make another trip just to make the payment. They need more than one office worker so that it's easier to make payments and any other business transactions.
