We are full time RVers who suddenly became "CubeSmart" when the storage we had arranged for our 40' motorhome and 24' Sprinter "toad" failed 24 hours before our flight to Istanbul from Chicago. Desperate, we frantically searched the web... and happened upon the CubeSmart storage network. But, by far, the most helpful was Pamela, m¹anager of the Mundeleine facility near Chicago. Pamela put us at ease explaining everything so clearly, we drove 240 miles to reach her facility before she closed! Once there... Pamela saw to every detail. Outdoor leaves & cottonwood fuzz blew around inside my unit. The ceiling leaked badly, water, leaving insulation & its plastic on my things. There were 3 mouse beds found in my unit! Worst storage unit you'll ever rent. Yet price increased a lot very often. Unforgivable. However, Pamela is awesome to speak to & do business with.

Cube Smart has gone from good to terrible. They once staffed there offices with two people. Then it was one who may or may not be on site during the day. Often times, no one was on site during office hours. Worse, they raised the rates a huge amount. No service, much higher rates. Go to a competitor. CubeSmart is out for the short term profits, customer service be dammed

My locked storage unit with the unit being outside was a good unit and the only negative is during winter I had a terrible time to enter my unit as the door handle was on bottom of sliding door which would be covered with snow/ice...not shoveled by CUBE SMART. Easy online payment and could contact me through email when my bill was due and any issues with payment such as updating credit card. My rent was raised fast and often. Short term storage is better than long term. Not a bad place in my opinion.

We rented a double (20x20) unit at this Mundelein location in October, 2020 and have had our stuff here for 12 months. Finally able to move on, YAY!!! Before vacating our unit, I just wanted to compliment Pamela, the facility manager. She is the most understanding, sweet and professional storage place manager we have ever dealt with. Most self storage facilities are pretty much the same as far as the units themselves go, but what makes this place outstanding is Pamela and the way she runs the place and her ability to understand people's needs and situations. The facility itself is very clean, quiet, and has always felt safe, but what would make us return here versus someplace else is Pamela and her eagerness to help with whatever she can. Chose this place in 2021 because of its location. Based on the staff's politeness, I tried to like it, I really did. But it's been one hassle after another, and some of that constitutes bait-and-switch. There are charges on the invoice that are never mentioned on the so-called "rental agreement" which we are required to sign up front (I still have mine, and put them side by side to check). You'd better keep a copy of yours too, because staff are perpetually confused about how much they are actually trying to charge you. You should watch all the charges like a hawk. Besides those charges, they also require mandatory insurance which is not mentioned in the ads. The outdoor parking spaces are nowhere near as large as advertised. Some are up to 10 feet shorter than advertised. Some are much narrower than others too. Also the space for maneuvering in and out of those is greatly overstated. If a long rig pulls in to either side of you, you could be trapped in there without enough room to get out at all. The staff tries to work around all of those inadequacies by pressuring customers to park with their vehicle overhanging far over the curb, which is not always practical, it can damage some rigs. There are trees hanging way over the fence in the parking area so each time you do swing your rig in or out, you scratch it up, and risk damaging your expensive air conditioners. If the postal service takes a little too long to carry your check from your bank to the storage place, they'll suspend your gate code, locking you out, and charge you a significant late fee. But if that happens, don't despair, just wait. One or more times per month the gates will malfunction and leave your rig open to the public until someone gets around to repairing them. That happened again June 21, 2021. So if you park a trailer there, be sure to use a good quality tongue lock and a wheel boot, or someone will be easily driving away with your trailer. Also each parking space has at least two different ant colonies underneath it. Those ants will repeatedly invade your rig. UPDATE: Kudos to the corporate staff for promptly reaching out when they saw a bad review. But at this time I'll politely decline to deal with them, for these reasons: Most of the problems come from how the business is run, and are nothing at all to do with my account. Therefore nothing good can come from having them touch my account. I'm actually afraid of what might happen to my account if they touch it any further. Those problems were there before I came to the place, and they'll be there long after I'm gone, unless this business cleans up its act. Nothing about my account is going to change that.

Sharon is a great manager. She is polite, professional and very nice. She goes out of her way to assist her customers. very unhappy with the GM Rachel. she was so rude and had no respect. i emptied the storage a day after the new bill kicks in. and she was trying to make me pay for the full month, and she told me if i don’t make the payment she’s gonna take me to collection. and i had to call the corp. manager Bruce, he was so nice and so understanding and he told me she has mo right to say stuff like that. and he apologized for her. Bruce and Pamela( the other manager) both were so nice and respectful. and another time i was trying to get to the storage but couldn’t open the gate, and Rachel was there, was around 6:30pm, the store was closed, so i tried to ask her something and she was in the car didn’t want to even open the window and talk to me. i asked her can you please roll down the window i got to ask something?! and she rolled the window down a little bit and was like:my shift is done. i told her can i ask you something? she was like: what?! all attitude for no reason. and i asked her for the gate, she was like: like i said my shift is done. i don’t get it why you have to be rude like that, we all human, just be respectful. so like i said very unhappy only because of the GM Rachel. other than that i was very satisfied. thats all i have to say about it!

Well, I moved out of my CubeSmart unit 3 weeks ago to move stored items to a vacant home that I had for rent. My interaction with CubeSmart then was phenomenal. They bent over backwards to make the experience easy even though I was moving out. Yesterday, I rented the home that I just put stored items in, to a new tenant. I had such a wonderful experience working with Cliff to find a good storage unit for me. He was patient and so kind. I will recommend CubSmart and specifically Cliff to anyone that has any storage needs.

When you call their number the first thing you hear is how great of customer service they provide. Do NOT believe it - at least at this location. The Manager Zena couldn't try harder to be unhelpful - she was miserable and would do absolutely nothing to help. When pressed with how to handle the situation, which was a simple request to allow me to unload a couple of items from my moving truck to gain access to my identification, she refused and told me to find another storage location. Which I gladly did. Poorest customer service I have ever encountered.

Zena was extremely helpful and continues to be in finding me best spot for my travel trailer. Since I am in the process of purchasing a larger trailer I need a larger space. They offer the best customer service I have found at a storage facility.

I have rented from them recently and would highly recommend them. They were very helpful, the site was very clean (unlike my experience with one of their major competitor's), and the lady behind the counter, Mary I believe, went above and beyond in helping me.
