After the promotional rate, an increased rate was expected. However, a few months after the promotional rate expired, my rate increased nearly 30% ! I called and all that was offered was to suggest I move to a smaller unit to save. I moved, but couldn’t believe I was charged an administrative fee as a current customer. I am feeling taken advantage of and I plan to find a better company to work with soon before CubeSmart bumps my rate up again. CubeSmart, please be “customer smart” and serve me better!

I kept my stuff in a climate controlled unit for about 3 years, after a terrible experience with mold at another local storage facility. Staff was always helpful when I needed them, the building my unit was in was always pretty clean, and best of all, no mold! I understand rodents were a problem for many folks, but I rarely if ever saw evidence of rodents in/near my unit.

I reserved it online and when I got there it was snow all infront that I had to shovel myself and black ice EVERYWHERE I called and complained and the very next day it was the same, they didn’t even put any salt down to the point I had to back all the way up to the until to even unload or we would fall. The unit was not even as much as swept out.

Signing up was a breeze. Did the whole process on line. Once I got to the unit I found the door closest to my unit would not open. Had to got over one door and open it from the inside. Also the remote access does not work on sundays - or at least it didn’t today. Also the exit gate was open all day today while I was there.

They doubled our rent in a year; the hallways were dirty and had a nauseating stench; there were rodent droppings in the unit and in our stuff - we had to throw some stuff out; there was rodent dirt where they had tunneled into our unit. I spent $600 to move to a different storage facility and I was glad to do so. This was a horrible experience. If it was possible to leave ZERO stars, I would.

Overpriced storage. People are moving things out because of price. Mouse poop and urine all through the storage bin when trying to clean it out. Pretty gross! You can see outside from the back of the bin. Not sealed well by design. Sayonara cube smart.

There was a terrible rodent infestation that affected many units. The entire floor was filled with a putrid smell of urine, fecal matter, and decaying mice. The cubesmart insurance and rental agreement specifically exclude rodent damage so I was out of thousands as I had to throw out beds, couches, chairs and clothing. Cubesmart also upped the monthly fee soon after i moved my stuff in which seemed like a bait and switch. The manager was very sympathetic but it is obvious that corporate just wants to nickel and dime customers That building is a hantavirus trap with all the fecal matter.

We recently rented a space at Cubesmart. We did it in person. Working with John (aka Hal) was great - he made the experience very pleasant. He outlined all the restrictions and rules and explained them very well. We got a drive up unit with no climate control, which he swept out for us before we moved anything in. We can park close to the door of the unit, making it easy to access with heavy items. The place was clean, with security entrances and long hours of operation.

The facility is somewhat secure, and it's a storage unit. What could go wrong? Well, first off it's a bit of a scam. They entice you with lower rates when looking, and then a month into your contract the price goes up 25%. Second, this place doesn't really have "Customer Service." The building with my indoor unit has someone living in the storage locker. The entire building smells like a rotting human being. It takes a lot of gumption to go into building and not dry heave. I have mentioned this and other issues of cleanliness and they go unanswered. I will be switching facilities fairly soon.

I rented a unit exactly a week today, on June 4. Today, June 11, I brought some more boxes to store and found the metal door with some damage in the lock area. Obviously, someone tried to open the door. I was just there last week and I did not see any damage to the door. Now, I am not sure on how secure my things are. Note: I just emailed you my account number and my contact info. Thanks Update 6/13/23: My wife went to the facility yesterday and spoke to the onsite manager. They both looked at the damaged door. My wife then requested a change of unit as the one we have have a damaged front door. The manager said that he could not change our unit. We will be finishing our one month rental and move to another facility. I also took a box out of the storage that contains costly items(camera stuff).

The customer service at that location is unparalleled! If I could give them 10 stars I would! I moved there from Extra Space Storage and never switching anywhere ever again! Wouldn’t recommend exterior units. Started with a decent rate and seemed like every 6 months they raised the price. Finally had a chance to move after about 1 year of having this unit and it’s disgusting. It was clean enough when we came in but there’s so much rat droppings that it can fill a room up. So much that I’m not even sure I want to keep some furniture I kept. Glad my items are being removed. Hope all units here are not the same.

Great rate is good for six months, much nicer units, great staff, the app is a nice touch. Just left a bait and switch competitor's location. Update: Sadly in a 12 month period my rent was increased twice, close to the point of doubling. The initial rate was a six month teaser. That does not work for long term storage. The only way to lock in a rate is to pay a year in advance. In other words the same old ___. Apparently the industry strategy is get you in and then because moving is a pain they stick it to you. Vs. charge a fair price and don't gouge. On to the next company. smh

I take back my five star review. Today I went to pay my storage unit, it was locked due to late payment. When I arrived the manager was filling out a lease, he ignored me, so i stood there for a good 20min without complaint, when he finally took care of the other customer he took my late payment and asked if I needed to access the unit, he told me that he was busy and it would be a moment, I said ok, told him we would go have lunch and come back in about a half hour, he said it was enough time, so when I came back the storage was still locked, I then went to run another errand and came back an hour later, he still had not taken off the lock from the storage, I was in a big hurry at this point, I run a small business and had been very patient, I knew the manager had seen me come twice, he saw I was sitting there waiting for him because the moment I started sawing off the lock he came running, he proceeded to cuss me out and yell saying that he was busy and continued to cuss me out. I was very patient and nice, but this manager is very unprofessional and has no customer service skills, he only showed up because I was sawing off the lock, I paid him cash for the destroyed lock and left him yelling, he stood in front if my vehicle on my way out and took a picture, I paid for the storage and the lock, gave him more than enough time to take care of the situation but he never did.

The minimum rating I could give is 1 star but my experience with CubeSmart Self-Storage was very poor...as in 0 star poor. I will not be using their self storage facilities in the future and it is highly unlikely I will recommend the company to my family, friends, colleagues or even enemies. I was very disappointed in the way CubeSmart went about addressing the issue of rodents infiltrating the units at the location I used, which is to say they did very little. With no 24-hour access for renters, no in-unit amenities that allow for camera and monitoring set ups, and what appeared to be no regular pest management service on the property, I feel that the VERY LEAST CubeSmart could have done when rodents were discovered in the rental units was to notify each renter so that the renter could take proper action to protect their stuff. I didn't discover that there was a rodent issue until I saw several of the books in my storage unit with pages that had been eaten and rodent droppings left on the ground. When I brought this to the attention of the site manager, all I got was a "we kicked out a renter because they had food in their storage, which attracted the rodents". That's not good enough. For as much as I paid monthly to store my stuff on the site, I deserved either a phone call or an email the moment that there was any kind of rodent issue in any of the units. Luckily for me, I conduct monthly checks on my unit so I was able to mitigate the damages I suffered to just 22 books and a futon. I hazard to guess the damages incurred by my fellow renters who check their units quarterly, semiannually, annually, or not at all. I feel as if I deserved better from CubeSmart but I suppose CubeSmart didn't agree. Thus, I'm moving on.

DON'T DO IT. Total rip-off. Go to the Extra Space Storage up the street. I "closed" out my unit in early December. I told them they would be out by then. The movers inadvertently put the padlock back on the door. As of the time of my move-out, the manager saw the lock on the door. Rather than call me to ask permission to cut the lock off (which they were also going to bill me to do), they assumed that I had not moved out. Because they had my previous address (and the mail did not get forwarded), I didn't see that they were still billing me over $100 a month for the 10x10 unit (again, total rip-off compared to Extra Space Storage). Even though they saw that I had not accessed the site since late November, they said that I was still in there... even though it was empty. Bottom line: there are way more options... don't be fooled by "shiny"

Facility seems to be well-managed and on-site management is very responsive. I chose CubeSmart over Public Storage in Gaithersburg, MD because CubeSmart had a small climate-controlled unit, which Public Storage did not. Facility easy to get in and out of and my storage unit was clean when I took possession. The building and outside grounds are free of clutter. Recommended.

We have been spending $8,000.00 a year, for storage at this location, for the last 6 years. The facilities are great but the staff that they have in their manager Tony is unparalleled! Tony actually made some miserable life experiences palatable and even somewhat enjoyable. He served as a storage specialist, a money manager and even a marriage counselor. He was fantastic at working with us through every need. We have storage units with multiple companies. At the end of the day, storage is storage but, we would choose to store at this location again just because of our experience with Tony. Top notch!

I'm a landscaper in Montgomery county. And getting a storage at CubeSmart was a good business decide. Being the pass experience from other storages in the area wasn't good.( Door come off the track number of times, and the attitude of staff didnt give that welcome feeling). New account setup could of been easier by giving you a few days to submit a certificate of your homeowners insurance. They demanded a certificate for coverage of the unit at that time or they would not progress on setting up your account.

I've been a customer for 19 years and I've always been happy with this place. It's clean and I feel my things are very safe there. I even recommend my brother to place his things there. Likewise he feels his things are safe there. Every month I go there to make a payment and most of the time, Tony (the general manager) assists me. He is VERY pleasant and very patience with me. I'm deaf and he takes the time to write things down when I don't understand. Charlotte (manager) is also friendly with me. I strongly recommend you storage your things here. It's safe!!!

I had a brief experience there, but the staff was pleasant. The only hurdle I had was the fact that it is easily 100 degrees in the storage area, which made moving in the middle of a 90+ degree day very unpleasant. I suppose only time will tell the effect that the heat will have on my stored items.
