Forced to leave this place after 3 days THIS PLACE HAS A MAJOR MICE INFECTATION! Didn't notice at first but the floor/walls of my 5x5 had streaks of urine, blood, grease and droppings from mice. In fact upon closer inspection, the corners are not isolated from the adjoining units, this allows mice to move freely from one to the other I told the manager about this and her response was they have exterminators (she didn't seem to care to be honest); You can see from the photos that this problem has been going on for years Avoid this location if you care about your stuff Moved to Securespace and been happy since

May 11, 2024 Dear CubeSmart Management, I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the recent interactions I had at the Lanham location on May 8, 2024. As a loyal customer of over eight years, I have always valued the convenience and reliability of CubeSmart. However, the events that transpired during my recent visit have left me deeply dissatisfied. On the fifth of the May, I spoke with the property manager, Joanne (or Johnny), regarding an issue with accessing my storage unit. Despite assuring her and paying my bill that day, my unit remained locked when I arrived. This oversight caused significant inconvenience as I had to transport all my belongings back home. The following day, upon returning to CubeSmart to address the matter, while dropping our things off I was met with further shenanigans, While attempting to communicate with Joanne (or Johnny), I was interrupted by Eric, who identified himself as the district manager. His approach was dismissive and condescending, and his assumption of my emotions only escalated the situation. Despite his promise of reimbursement, I have yet to receive any communication from him or Joanne (or Johnny). I called and left a message for Stephanie Burdo “ regional manager” And still, no one has reached out to me. Furthermore, the lack of professionalism demonstrated by both Joanne (or Johnny) and Eric is unacceptable. Joanne's (or Johnny's) reaction to being addressed with a term of endearment was unwarranted, and Eric's demeanor was disrespectful and ignorant. As a district manager, Eric failed to uphold the standards of customer service expected from CubeSmart. It is deeply concerning to me that such behavior is tolerated within your organization. As a valued customer, I expect better treatment and respect. I request a formal apology from both Joanne (or Johnny) and Eric for their actions and the inconvenience caused. Additionally, I urge CubeSmart management to address the cleanliness and operational issues at the Lanham location, as they reflect poorly on the company as a whole. Please consider this letter as an opportunity to rectify the situation and restore my faith in CubeSmart. I eagerly await your response and a resolution to this matter. Sincerely, Cecelia

Wonderful place to have your storage. They keep the place clean. I did not give this place five stars because they closed and locked the facility too early for the money, they charge you to store your things. Remember they go up on your rent every year. Always asking to see if they have a better price and promotions but you would have to move to a new unit to get that pricing.

Good storage but they will trick you with a promotion price and then raise the price after some time. My bill was 180 something and then shot up to 230. I'm assuming it was due to me signing up for some kind of promotion. I should have read the fine print so that's my fault but things should just be transparent. I shouldn't have to go so in depth for honesty of prices.

I rented my space over the phone and I went to the office to just get my keys and access codes. When I got there I was welcomed by Johnny and it was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve had in a while. I was in desperate need to put my stuff in storage. I literally had an apartments worth of stuff that I was moving out of my landlords house. I needed a big enough space for less than 30 days. Mrs. Johnnye was a God send. When I explained my situation she gave me the first month free and told me to make sure my things were gone before 30 days to avoid paying the expensive storage fee. She was beyond helpful. She went out of her way to be a good person and help me in my time of need. It’s people like her that make me feel comfortable to walk into an establishment without feeling like I’m being judged. The only thing I disliked about my experience was the day I had to remove all of my things out of the storage unit. I was sad to go, but I had to. Even the day I left, she was still nothing short of amazing. I’m really going to miss her genuine spirit. Thank you Mrs. Johnnye for all you’ve done for me and continue to do for other good people such as yourself. Whoever reads this review, I hope you get to meet this amazing woman. She won’t let you down.

I’ve had a unit at this location for at least a few years. There is always one calamity or another that causes me to be late with my payment because I’m on a fixed income. Jhonnie, the manager of this location, is always at least willing to hear me out and if there’s a solution that benefits me, she always finds it. Not only that but her demeanor is always pleasant and she never brings any outside issues to her job. Unfortunately, my time here is about to come to an end, and I’ll definitely be a little better off for not having to pay this monthly bill, but I have to say, I will miss coming over here to pay my bill. Since I’ve met Jhonnie, that’s been the way I pay my storage bill, even though it’s out of the way for me. But I always feel better after spending those few minutes in her presence. In short, she’s one of those special people and I, for one, will miss her.

I hate to give a low review but it’s based on the price increase only. I had two price increases within 18 months. My price increased by $5 at first and then I received notification that it would be an additional $20 increase per month and that to me was unacceptable. The facility itself is clean and in a very safe location. The staff was always professional and courteous.

The rates are far less than any other storage spaces in the area, and you get way more for your money. Very easy process, controlled access, comes with some supplies. She is very knowledgeable about everything took the time to explain everything I had questions about, she showed me the units, prior to me renting so I could physically see what I needed to buy. They still have not fixed the outside and inside lights where my storage is located... after X amount of months possibly year or more. But do I get a discount for them not keeping up with service. NO SHOULD BE MARKED AS 0 STARS NOW New update: This place is no good. To make matters worst. They have locked the bathrooms once again. They claim it’s because some people misuse it. How can you misuse a bathroom when all I’ve seen in there is a mess of paper (from trashcan) and dirty floor (water). This is normal bathroom activity. If you don’t like cleaning the bathroom find another job. But the restroom should be available for your paying customers that specifically went from storage place to storage place to find and make sure it provided a restroom when needed. They also said they keep it open during office hours. Which is a lie because I’ve tried using during that time and it was locked. They have to have it available during gate hours because I am a lady and stay there working from my storage (loading and unloading for my deliveries) sometimes for hours at times and have my daughters with me sometimes too. We can’t just stop and drive off to use a restroom elsewhere. I’m working with heavy duty items and can’t just stop every second someone needs the restroom to drive off and use it 5min away. This has been a VERY bad experience and I have rented a storage place from cubesmart (other location) before NEVER did I have ANY issues

I needed a storage facility and started shopping around in the Greenbelt area. Visited 3 storage facilities on 450 East/West Highway. I was unimpressed until I went to Cube Smart off of 450. Its an impressive looking place asthectically. I met staff member Johnny. I inquired about sizes of storage areas and pricing. I was impressed comparatively speaking. Johnny was knowledgeable,, professional, courteous and extremely, helpful. Johnny anticipated questions which is helpful to customers. It is staff like Johnny that take the edge off the moving experience. 5 stars to you Johnny.

I have been here for a year and Johnnye has been more than helpful and courteous to me in all situations even when nobody is in the office or the office is closed she comes within minutes. I like getting calls ahead of time to let me know when my bill is due and that helps me avoid late fees. I recommend for anyone to use this facility for their storage needs. I am very pleased with this facility. Johnny is a customer service representative, and when I tell you she’s FANTASTIC, you need to believe it! I took her advice on an unit, and saved myself a couple of hundred dollars. Johnny showed me how I was under utilizing my unit. She’s awesome. She’s also very pleasant and friendly. The building is always clean. If you need to store any items, this spot should be your first choice. Johnny is the best!!!! The rest of the crew are professional and friendly as well. Great new facility with clean space and good security but the customer service makes this place the worse in service of storage facilities I visited around the area. Even some older storage facilities around had better service. The property manager at this Lanham location has very poor customer relations skills which gets worse with their temper tantrums. They seem threatening towards customers and tend to focus on how strict they are with timelines. I was told by the property manager an appointment is needed for any visit to the office space due to COVID social distancing guidelines, however she stressed out that you can walk in at anytime to make a payment as if COVID differentiates someone making a payment from the person making an appointment. I also find it strange that they advertise a moving truck at their property but it’s never available due to one reason or another no matter how early you come in to book one. Think am kidding, show up as early as possible to try to book the moving truck and hear the next manufactured excuse they may give you. Bottom line, this particular property will probably attract more customers if their customer service could improve and if the current management is made to understand they are serving the people who rent at their storage space and not the other way round. I find it strange they had such a poor customer service (especially the rudeness towards customers) giving they are like 5 options of storage facilities close by that makes you feel welcomed with excellent customer service and property managers willing to cater for your needs. I hope the district manager makes an effort to raise the service capabilities at this location as he committed to cooperate that he will.

I was not disappointed at all, she insured that all my concerns and needs were met and made the experience smother then what I thought it would be. Johnny in the office was friendly and helpful. I found my unit clean, and it was easy to move my possessions into it, especially because carts were right at the entrance of the building. However, there is one thing I am very unhappy about. I had asked about what kind of lock I could use on the locker and was not told that I could use a Master lock, which I own. The style lock I could use was described and available when I completed my contract online. When I arrived at the site and found Master locks on some units, I asked to return the lock I had purchased online and was told that I couldn't. I really want to return the lock and get a refund for it.

I wanted to wait at least 30 days before giving a review in order to give you my very best opinion. I'll start off with the good. When i walked in, I noticed that the place was extremely clean. The staff member Johney (Maybe I'm spelling it wrong) was completely professional. I couldn't make up my mind at 1st. I felt good knowing that i wasn't being rushed to make a decision. All of the staff that I've meet were 100 percent friendly. This would be a great place if you need extra storage place. I rented a storage unit on Friday 7/10 and I couldn't be more satisfied by my experience. Johnnye was very helpful and knowledgeable and made the process so seamless! The building is new and very clean; all the units in the main building are climate controlled as well, so you don't have to worry about items getting moldy from heat and moisture. They also have a cubesmart moving box truck that is available for use, which is great and convenient! Glad I found this place! Very happy with it!

I want to share my horror story of what has occurred as a result of the negligent behavior on staff. I had thousands of dollars in damage done to my mattress, towels, sheets, furniture from mice that used my unit as a nesting ground as a result of my neighboring unit bringing in food. The company was aware of this violation and failed to report any problems having occurred. When I went to check on my unit to change out my clothes for summer I found this damage. I have been in contact with corporate and was told that I should be hearing back either from the district manager or the VP. Both of whom have failed to bring any final solutions to remedy the damage to my belongings. This process has taken place over two months and still no resolution has occurred. I am now having to go to the court systems to have any financial reimbursement for my belongings that I have had to replace. If you care about your property do not store with this company in any location they may have. They do not care about their customers. Customer service is a joke. I would also like to add that only after this post did I get a call offering less than half of what my damaged property was worth.... In a nut shell, their automatic responses you see below our comments are a joke.

Sharing this for others to know sometimes its not the company, but folks who are employed by them. I arrived two weeks at the storage facility after purchasing a storage bin to find out upon arriving with my storage items that the storage bin was resold. Why? The employees could not give me a legit reason and seem not to be concerned. The paper work was done, automatic deduction was done. I had an agreement that was broken without a phone call or an email notice. I am standing there with a car full of personal items ready to store. No one took accountability for this mistake nor did they seem to care. I was then sold another box for a price of $68.00 again later to find out in less than two weeks after purchasing the rate went up to 86.00.00, $20.00 increase! in less than two weeks. The agents, lied, manipulated both transactions. Their business practices seemed somewhat "crooked". I decided to carry my business elsewhere where employees were fair, honest and legit in their daily business transactions. Beware of a few Managers at this location. Note: I will not do business with CubeSmart again nor would I recommend anyone else to do so at this location.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION! I put my belongings in this storage unit while I sold my home in Dec 2018. When I came to retreive my belongings on the first weekend in March 2019, there were mouse droppings on everything. The facility did nothing to rectify the situation and I was told the insurance I purchased did not cover rodent/insect damage. I have to throw my furniture and clothing away and they still charged me for the month of March! If I could give zero stars I would. Please take my advice and save yourself the headache. Do not store your valuables at the Cube Smart on Annapolis Rd. In MD!

5 Stars! Would Recommend this CubeSmart to Anyone and Everyone!!! It is an iron- gated-facility (A must for me!), an immaculately clean facility, outside and inside, extremely-well lit, and I also felt very safe in the community where this facility is located, and the best thing was the great, great, customer service and help the Manager, Ms. DeAnna Reddick provided us on Labor Day, September 2018 !!! Reserved a unit online and called before they opened to confirm they would be opened on Labor Day. Reach a general customer service rep who confirmed all location offices are open on Labor Day and as long as I arrived anytime before 6 pm, I could complete the paperwork, and have access to my unit the same day. My movers were still packing up everything after 5, so I drove over to this location, arriving around 5:45 pm. The very pleasant manager, Ms. Reddick informed me processing of reservations stops at 5:30 pm and the customer service is not in sync with CubeSmart operations. Note: CubeSmart needs to fix this; almost wanted to drop the rating, but because Ms. Reddick made sure she would take care of us and make sure that I would have everything processed and set up so that our movers would have a unit to place items in it. She walked me through everything and made sure I understood everything, since this was my first rental. Ms. Reddick was fabulous!!! 5 Stars!!! because of the secure, clean, and well-lit facilities, and unit, and community, and the above and beyond service and help Ms. Reddick helped us with and provided us on a Labor Day holiday! Thanks!

I visited on a rainy Sunday afternoon just before closing as I was looking for the right storage place. The manager on duty, DeAnna, greeted me warmly and assisted me by looking up my online reservation. She then took me to view the space which I found more than satisfactory. The building is very modern, clean, well-lit, climate controlled, secure facility (code access required for the gate entry and elevator usage) and have garage-type sliding doors which slide easily up and down. Once back in the office to finalize the rental, DeAnna went over every aspect of the rental. She also suggested a unit for me closer to the elevator (than the one I actually selected online) which she perceived may better fit my needs as I'm a "mature person" which I certainly appreciate and readily agreed to. She finished my paperwork and did not seem bothered that it was a bit past closing, but was very professional in dealing with me. She made sure I understood how to access the facility, its hours of operation (store hours and facility access hours), what my rental agreement entailed, what the insurance covered and indicated if I had questions or needed something, to call her and she handed me her business card. I highly recommend Cubesmart, and especially their Lanham location on 9641 Annapolis Road, where DeAnna will provide you with amazing client service.

Saturday April 7, 2018 at around 1:45pm I received a phone call from my father about the storage unit not being paid for. The store manager Emmanuel Williams let me know that I had paid for a separate account that I had opened. I knew he was wrong due to previously paying my storage bill with him three days before. I let him know that the account was in my father’s name before paying and he confirmed with the storage unit number. We continued to go back and forth over the phone because the store manager said I would have to make an additional payment of $70 dollars due because I had already made a payment to another account. I ended up going to the storage location because Mr. Williams was not listening to me even though I sent my dad a screenshot of my payment from my bank and a screenshot of my contract. When I arrived at the location they still insisted to not let us in. I Mr. Williams to check his records again because there was a mistake and without looking he said no. He then proceeded to tell me I couldn’t get a refund for my payment because I made it to my “other existing account.” We continued to go back and forth for over 10 minutes and he then insisted to print out my contract that included my signature, a copy or my photo ID, and other documents I had signed off on. When Mr. Williams printed out the documents I took the paperwork and glanced through it to find that the photo ID was not of me, but it belonged to another woman with my same first name who joined the storage services back in August of 2017. We started our contract February 2018. I was literally infuriated because Mr. Williams decided to e prejudice and not consider detail. He saw that there were two African names and made his own decision to judge. Also, the workers that were with him did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to diffuse the situation. He then let us know that if we had any issues we could take it up with the company’s lawyers. Mr. Williams then proceeded to tell us that he will credit our correct account of the $70.00 I paid on April 3rd. He then told my father that we had to pay an additional $7.00 for an insurance policy that NO ONE WAS AWARE OF. PLUS WE HAD INSURANCE FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I didn’t understand why we needed to pay that. You’d think because I company has already wrongfully accused you of not paying your bill that you have receipts for, wastes over an hour of your time, and is straight up prejudice and unprofessional would at least waive the insurance fee because it is there fault as to why you didn’t even know of one and because you already had insurance with your preexisting account. Once we got the validation that it was their mistake they finally let us in the building.. But the story is not over. On April 14, 2018 my father went back to the storage place and they told him he could not enter the building because we didn’t pay our existing balance for April.. WHICH I PAID APRIL 3RD. They said the money was refunded to my bank (when they said it would be credited to my account and taken out of the other person they charged my card to.) My father called me to send him the Cube Smart confirmation of payment letter they sent us the day before and they still would not let us in. My father proceeded to call the police because the situation was getting ridiculous and with all the information and facts provided they STILL would not let us into our storage unit that we pay for on time very month since we opened an account with them February 2018. This entire situation has been disguising and the entire team of that Cube Smart needs to be fired. We didn’t even know a new company was taking over because nether Self Storage Zone(previous owners) nor Cube Smart (current owners) company did not notify us. Please re-evaluate who you hire and let run your stores because no paying customers deserve to to through what we went through. This has been the most ridiculous customer service I have experienced my entire life.

Self Storage Zone has great customer service team. They answered all my questions and respond to customer concerns very promptly. They are professional and I have enjoyed my stay. I'm moving out in Febuary but wanted to make sure everyone is aware of this hidden gem. The location is secured by a gate entrance as well as a code to get in and out. The are cameras on each level. I have come here in the later hours 9pm at night and felt safe as a woman. I would recommend them over the competition! They also have promotions for 3 months 50% off.
