The entrance gate is unreliable and refuses to open. It’s incredibly inconvenient to show up and be unable to get in. Given the cost, I would expect better upkeep.

1st year of rental was great - no complaints. But past year has been more problematic. Climate control broken for several weeks (still unresolved), temperature in storage unit is above 90 degrees. Restrooms always locked and was told to use the portable toilet outside.

Slow to resolve persistent issues. Most recently, broken air conditioning resulting in 90 degrees on an entire floor for weeks. Out of order restrooms for 6+ months. The code-operated front door to the building was broken this past winter, so they left the back door wide open and unsecured for several days. I’m always given the number of the district manager when I bring issues to the local managers’ attention, which goes to a company VM and no call back.

Getting my Storage set up with Anthony made the process pretty easy and comfortable however, by the end of the move-in day, I required a bit of help and instead of receiving a welcoming polite respond from the other storage employee Al (I believe that is his name) I end up getting the most unprofessional respond that behavior was definitely uncalled for and should not have any space at a professional work place. Whoever the general manager is fire him. Because that uncontrollable unprofessional behavior he displayed no customer shouldn’t have to encounter that.

Poor Communication across the board. I am a new customer of CubeSmart, right down the street from my new place. I had several questions about renting from CubeSmart, so I went to this location four times to see the unit and ask my questions; however, there was never anyone in the office. Finally, I booked my reservation online as I was preparing to move. My reservation was accepted; however, within 24 hours, it was canceled. I didn't understand what happened, so I called the office for help. After numerous calls, I spoke with "Anthony" and explained that my reservation was canceled and I needed his help to reserve space for my move Anthony informed me that Cubesmart doesn't reserve space for over a week. I was perplexed because the website never indicated such, and the online booking system confirmed the requested date. I explained that I historically rented from Public Storage and had never heard of such timeframes. I asked if he could help me understand what I should do. Anthony grew frustrated and irritated as he rudely informed me that this was their policy and that if I didn't like it, to go back to Public Storage as another employee was trash-talking in the background. I was appalled at the behavior. Then Anthony proceeded to hang up on me and turn the voicemail on to avoid my calls. I contacted the District Manager, Ciro Vigilante, requesting a phone call back to discuss my experience and my rental. Instead, I received two emails after 8:00 p.m. EST stating he was trying to reach me. I responded by requesting a phone call explaining my issues, and I sent him a Google review. That didn't matter since I have yet to speak to Ciro. Clearly, none of these employees understand the true meaning of customer service. POOR COMMUNICATION. I ended up calling customer service again, and the lovely lady helped me book my space, paid online, and promised to have a manager call me back. Unfortunately, as awesome as she was, no manager has called me yet. If it weren't for the desperate need, I would have never rented from CubeSmart. The experience has been stressful and frustrating. The property and unit are immaculate and well-kept.

Saturday | 12/02/23 @ approximately 1:35 PM I called to reserve a storage unit for a move-in date of 12/29/23. I reached out to the Research Place, Rockville, MD, location, and I spoke with ANTHONY. I explained that I had selected 12/29/23 as my move-in date, and when I received my email confirmation, it switched my date to 12/10/23. I requested his help in reserving space. He went on to state that they only take reservations two weeks out. I was confused as to why anyone would wait two weeks before a move to secure a storage space, which I find to be the last minute. I apologized for not understanding and explained that I had used public Storage and was unfamiliar with their company policies and procedures, and requested more understanding. There was a voice in the background adding two cents that “This isn't public storage-go there!” as ANTHONY rudely shut me down from asking me questions to get an understanding of what to do. Then ANTHONY hung up the phone on me mid-sentence. WOW!!!!!! What a great disappointment to the community to have ignorant, rude people working for your organization! They are blessed that I am not a secret shopper, company rep, or owner… THEY BOTH WOULD BE FIRED!!!! #facts. Cube Smart— Many professional kind people in the world need employment! DO BETTER!!!! HIRE SMARTER!!!

Not sure how they won an award for customer service, this place is probably the worst I've ever experienced. I've been sitting outside the office for half an hour on/off the phone with the call center trying to pay my bill in cash, but the office is locked up/dark. They aren't supposed to close until 5pm, but I guess they decided to take off early today for funsies and not alert anyone at corporate. My things have apparently been double padlocked and my gate access code was inactivated because I'm a few days late on one payment, and now they won't even let me make my payment so I can go in and grab ONE THING for my kid's 1st birthday, tomorrow. I've called corporate multiple times, and finally got a Supervisor who will be escalating this issue to a District Manager, so here's hoping for everyone at this office, because I'm about to try and get them all fired. Absolutely ridiculous.

Save yourself and go to Public Storage its way cheaper and you get more. Cube smart is overpriced for no reason, has poor customer service, only one elevator, and the rent goes up after every 6 months. They charged late fees during the pandemic illegally (and the managers response was "but everyone is getting free checks aren't you"). I also experienced racism at the Rockville, MD location.

We needed a number of storage units to hold our household items temporarily while moving. Roslyn and the team at CubeSmart were friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely accommodatable. They were great to work with and I really appreciated it. We had 5 units in the newer building which we were able to fill. Each unit was floor to ceiling and was not restricted to the standard 8' height as you may find in similar temp controlled units. Lastly, the price...we had a 6th unit in a different location that was almost 25% of the cost of the 5 units we had at CubeSmart. Very affordable.

I recently rented two units from Cube Smart and I can't say enough good things about my experience. The employees were so friendly and helpful. Bob and Rosalynn were extremely attentive and kind during a very difficult and stressful moving day for my family. We were in the middle of moving drama with our moving company who scammed us, forcing us to quickly relocate to this CubeSmart location from another one. Rosalynn quickly found us two units that fit our needs. Bob was able to get me back the money I paid on the other unit at the other location which was so appreciated! He gave us cold water bottles and lent us a friendly ear, listening to my moving drama. Thank you again Bob and Rosalynn, you guys were amazing!

I made a reservation for a unit about a week ago. Obviously moving can be an extremely stressful time, but KaLeia absolutely made my day. She walked through everything with me and made sure we felt comfortable throughout the process. She went above & beyond to make sure we had what we needed and were able to smoothly get everything done. We were moving and downsizing from a home to an apartment and realized in the midst of our move that we needed a storage unit because we just could not sort through it all during the move. Cube smart was the closest storage to our new apartment and we decided to check it out. We have had a number of storage units over the years and I must say that CubeSmart is one of the cleanest and nicest ones we’ve ever had. Bob, the manager, was wonderful as he showed us around and helped us decide the best size for our needs. As we continue to come back to the storage unit to start sorting through things we are still so glad that this is where we have put our stuff. I had an amazing experience with the Manager Adam I had been to a few storage units in the area, i always got the feeling that they are doing me a favor to serve me, plus most of the offices are so filthy they belong in a sleazy motel not a storage facility So initially, when i went i thought i was in for another horrible experience. When i was greeted by Adam, I realized that this is someone who puts customer service first. When i looked at the facility and the office i was suprised by the level of order and cleanliness. He made the process easy, fast and enjoyable. I can’t say enough good things about this CubeSmart! This was by far the best self storage experience I have ever had. We stored our belongings here for about 16 months and never had any problems. The manager Bob is incredible at his job and was always willing to work with our specific needs right from the day we moved in. The place is always spotless and the temperature is well regulated. Adam Keith was very attentive and professional. My only complaint was that I was charged $12 for an entire month of insurance when (1) I provided Adam a declaration page from my homeowners insurance the very next day and (2) I was not moving any thing into the unit for at least a week. So, in order to sign my contract, I had to pay some company to insure an empty unit.

Great storage unit! Very clean (no pests, they keep the place neat and tidy), secure (need a code to enter/exit their gates, enter main doors, and go up elevator, option to place 2 locks on storage door), and convenient (enough space, restroom on site, carts provided, complimentary water bottles and coffee, climate controlled and they even have music playing around the facility!). Also, Adam and Bob (store managers) are always helpful, friendly, and professional. Kudos guys! Definitely recommend this facility!

This was my first time renting a storage unit, and I'm very glad I chose CubeSmart in Rockville. Very helpful manager, and the whole process was smooth and easy. The facility is very secure. They have ample carts for moving items. We unloaded a truck on a Saturday when several others were also accessing their units, there were plenty of carts for all. It's conveniently located right off 270 and Shady Grove- easy for me to stop by after my commute on the ICC (we're prepping to move and have many carloads to go...).

Both managers were excellent. I was given a thorough tour with instructions on how to get in and out of the property . There's a locked gate, locks and video cameras on every door. Excellent customer service by Bob and Priscilla. Priscilla was very friendly and helpful in conducting the tour of the place and helped me get a storage that I was looking for. Bob did a wonderful job and ensured it was a quick and easy process at the front desk before you are all set to utilize the storage facility at this place. The only negative feedback I have about this place is the # of times you have to punch in the code to access 2nd floor. First you enter the code to get access to parking. Secondly punch in the code to get access to the actual building. Once you are in the building, you have to punch in the code every time you use the elevator to get to higher floors. This I felt it’s bit redundant when you have to make multiple trips to get all your stuff from/ to the unit.

We have had a great experience with CubeSmart so far! The Research Place location has been efficient, friendly and helpful. We tentatively reserved a unit with Octavia then decided we needed a larger unit. She handled it over the phone, and when we stopped by Mark showed us several units in our size and let us pick the one that was most convenient for load in and load out. The price is competitive and the location is two miles from our home. We were thrilled to learn that they are opening two more facilities, one on the same property and the other close by on Gaither Road.

Spent more than half an hour, enter code didn't work. I still don't have the code. Access to the space is very acwkward. Manager did not smile until I told him so.Property is super clean. Made me purchase insurance against my will which is illegal. I was given no option to opt-out. All of the other vendors in the past had option to opt. Out. This may be a scam. Once you reserve the space, they got you. You pay for the insurance or else.
