Was a client for 12 years (simply storage before cubesmart). Since under new management, have gotten annual +12%/yr price increases without any explanation as to why the increases are so much higher than inflation. Had to move out and find alternative where I was able to half the cost of storage. Manager not particularly helpful when asked for alternative cheaper units, reasons for price increases ("can't do anything it's management"), or when asked if she had any suggestion for who could help me move out (did not get a response). The storage space overall clean and secure and in good location. Back entrance looks a bit apocalyptic with overgrown vegetation and abandoned vehicles but was very practical to load and unload. Would recommend if the management team could reduce pricing by 30-40%, do more reasonable price increases, and empower/train their managers to help their customers.

Only had my stuff here for a month and my sofa, armchair and a box of clothes were ruined by ceiling leaks. Luckily I bought insurance on the unit so I got some of the value back. The store manager assured me that I wouldn’t be receiving any of my unit rent back before I even filed my claim. She seemed to be trying to help but said the district manager wasn’t going for it. Several other units had visible water damage and rust on the doors. If you have to use this place, cover your valuables in plastic and get the insurance. I know I won’t be back.

I cannot recommend this place. The roof leaks and has leaked since 2020. The corporate management and ownership has been content to throw bandages on the issue instead of fixing it with a new roof. Rather than compensate tenants for the uncertainty of whether they will stay dry, they raised the rent 25%. You can find space cheaper elsewhere and have a solid roof over your space.

Highly recommend. We were stiffed upon arrival in Ann Arbor by U-Haul (do not count on them to have a space available even with a reservation). Joe Owen at Cube Smart stayed late on a Friday evening to get us into a storage unit. He was awesome. Storage area was perfect. Clean and dry and easy to get items into. There is no reason to look anywhere else in the area.

My fiancé unit got flooded and they didn’t call her to let her know. It was only a fluke that we happened to go by to drop some things off that we found out. Water everywhere! Just some soggy cardboard boxes but the family in the next unit had severe damage to their belongings and the management was not being helpful to them. Just excuses. She was not told that there is a great deal of flooding when it rains when she rented the unit and they were well aware bc the manager told us he wouldn’t have put us in that unit if he knew it was one of the units that took on water. Wow. No thanks.

Not a fan. This facility has changed hands a couple times in the past few years, so I can't put all the blame on the current ownership, but several years ago there was a leak above our unit that ruined many boxes of documents. We cleaned that up, and they assured me they'd fix the leak. Well, last month their roof leaked again, and ruined more boxes of documents. I emailed their support address for help, and didn't get any response. When I was in most recently figuring out how to clean up the mess, the manager of the facility did come over to let me know he'd gotten the email and had forwarded on to regional management, but I haven't heard back from them. I'd advise you to look somewhere else for your storage needs. Update 3/5: Sending a third email to that help address, per your comment below. Update 3/10: Still no response to any of my 3 emails. Update 3/18: Moved out, as they still haven't responded. The on site manager came over to talk to me as we packed up all of our documents that didn't get ruined, and disassembled our now moldy shelves to throw away. He said he'd emailed regional management several times, but wasn't getting a response. He said the company believes the owner should be responsible for things like this, and the owner believes the company should be. I don't understand the setup, but if the buck stops with nobody, my bucks are going somewhere else.

Convenient storage location close to Ann Arbor, we appreciated that they were temperature controlled for our belongings. Some of the storage units are a bit further walk than others, but it's easy to pull the back of the truck up to the main lobby area, and then you probably don't need to walk more than 100 feet. The GM, Nichole, was wonderful, very friendly and helpful with all our questions and needs (we had an issue where we needed to re-access the storage unit we vacated, our own fault) even when she was super swamped with customers for school-day move in. Good pricing, highly recommend!

As an out-of-state student, it can be difficult to secure storage, especially for a reasonable price in a place like Ann Arbor, but she has communicated quickly and clearly with both my parents across the country and myself here locally. Called ahead of time to see how long I could reserve a unit in advance for fall semester. Erin, the manager, was so helpful and knowledgable. Ann Arbor State Street Self Storage is the best builiding for any college dorm furnitiutre clothes and personal belongings. The whole building is cool, clean, and have no bugs!

Erin is so helpful and she moves fast. She also has a lot of great info to provide. She runs the whole show there and was totally transparent about the availabilities and renting options. I needed a unit this morning and she got me set up within 30 minutes of walking in. I did an online reservation before hand and the process was super easy. I even got to take advantage of a special promo for a 12x15 unit where the first month was free, and the unit is month to month. So convenient! I’m glad we decided to use simply self storage.

On Monday 6/25/18 Jennifer was amazing. She stood up and greeted me. That put me in shock because the other places that I shopped around at they don't stand up. She told me that your prices are a little higher than the rest of the storage places because of it is right down the road from University of Michigan, which I understand why that would make a lot of impact on the prices. This location has all the bells and whistles of security you could ever need to feel like your possessions are safe. Erin the manager is very nice and shows you how to pack as much into a small space as possible. I would have got a bigger unit, but she saved me money.

Erin was absolutely the best help I’ve received at any storage place location. I have used over 10 different locations throughout the US, and I have never had such a great customer service experience as the one I had with her. She took all the time I needed to show me the units available and even walked through how my furniture could fit to get the unit that best fit my needs.

Super easy and helpful! Erin assisted us and was very friendly, effortlessly answered all our questions, and gave us a tour of the unit we'd be renting before signing -- which we did a few minutes later! Access is straightforward and building overall seems well maintained and conveniently located.

I don`t have a storage unit here but I went into the office and was only looking for prices , The girl at the first desk name Amber is great she told me what i wanted to know and told me on the unit i was looking at that i could get first full month free, Wow that`s really great, I also liked that a lot and she was very nice and sweet and VERY VERY friendly. Simply Self Storage is great the employee`s are great

I ultimately chose this facility for several reasons. I was able to gain 24 hour access and they had the best loading area isolated from the elements with plenty of space. The icing on the cake was working with Ryan he was very personable and patient. He was able to answer all of my questions and unlike some facilities, that just showed me a fake storage space and said here are the sizes, he gave me a tour.. They do have the sizes in the lobby area to show you but his willingness to show me how everything worked along with what would be "my storage unit" ultimately tipped the scales in my decision. I wish I could give 5 stars but my one concern is that they can raise your price based on availability. Ryan was very upfront about this and offered a few solutions. He was very forthright in this corporate policy. It is month to month there so raising the price isn't that big of a concern. If it gets too high you can leave. I would recommend this facility based on cleanliness and fantastic customer service.

Called here to get a quote on a unit. The man who answered the phone was very impolite, and took much longer than necessary to pull up a simple price. After I finally got the quote, I thanked him and tried to get off the phone, but he just wouldn't let me go. My other line was beeping, so I was trying to get off quickly and politely, but each "Thank you, goodbye!" caused him to talk harder and faster, trying to get out his schpeel. I ended up cutting him off and hanging up- ALL I WANTED WAS A QUOTE. I ended up missing the call on the other line, but that's ok, because it was THEM, using caller ID to call me back! I would not recommend this company, just on their phone etiquette!! They were also one of the highest quotes that I received...No thanks!
