I started out here in 2016 with a rate for my RV at $66, well before cubsmart took over. there were moderate increases over the years. last January my rate went from $91 to $117. I complained about this but they said since it is month to month they can raise it at any time. I got another postcard for this January whereby the rate went from $117 to $134. I'm fine with moderate increases but I'm not willing to put up with upwards of 20%. I had no issues with the facility.

They don't communicate with you if there's something going on with your storage unit. They just do what they think is best. They do have the option to have an outdoor or "indoor" storage. We had an "indoor" storage locker but it might as well have been outside because it was full of bugs. Bugs all through my things. It was awful. I might as well spent less on the outdoor storage. I guess they don't exterminate. If you want your things to be stored in an indoor storage locker, choose an actual indoor storage company, not SmartCube.

Excellent customer service beyond the minimum required, helped cut my lock off for free when I left my keys home a few hundred miles away and lent me a spare lock to use while I moved the last of my stuff out. 8+ years of my things stored here and everything remained basically in same condition I left it, so thanks for keeping the place so clean and dry!

Hello, we were moving out on short notice and CubeSmart had a unit available within a few hours! Everyone was so helpful and it was easy access. My boyfriend and I each had a key to get into our unit, and we had our own code to get into the unit. I felt very safe going into the unit by myself, even later in the evening. Have been using the West Ann Arbor facility for many years, and the current management has been keeping the premises in one of the best shapes I have ever seen. Since CubeSmart took over Simply Self Storage I only had stratospheric price hikes and saw zero facility improvements apart from new painting colors... Customer service is good though but can't do much. CubeSmart is a cash grab business, stay away. My last price increase was 69.73%, a parking space from $76 to $129.... never again!

The on site manager was nice and helpful. Location is great, and getting in and out is simple but secure. Units are fine, although I wish they were better sealed-- there were a lot of stink bugs in my stuff/the unit (alive and dead). Everything is inside a gate that you need a code access for which is nice, but the gate moves so slow that it's easy for someone to sneak in behind you if they want.

I am giving this storage company 2 stars because of extreme rate increases. 2 years ago we paid 130, now its 190. Yes, getting out as soon as we can. If you want to lose money very quickly, then come here for $30 a year increase. They say they are competitively priced, funny how rates never go Down. Who raises rates just because they can, in this economy? Thats a Huge Increase. Its clean and well lit.

I would give it a zero if this was possible, my storage was full of those little stink bugs, I mean a real infestation and they did nothing about it, their place is always dirty and no one is every hardly there, I lost many items due to the infestation and will never use nor recommend this facility again ever. They were not helpful at all not even the higher ups, its all about money to them that's it. Don't use this place I'm telling you now, you will regret it.

New management was unable to be reached all last week so I finally just went into the office today. Miserable experience with new management. If I could move, I would. 3 units and zero customer service. I would avoid this location and new management if you can.

The unit was fine. Without a major incident I would've given them 5 stars. One of the employees used my debit card to pay my storage bill without consent. This was a problem because not was he able to use my card without consent but when I called to file a complaint 2 other employees, 1 in management, were unable to see any information regarding my card. It wasn't saved on file. I was not on automatic pay. The handling of this was lack luster at best. The corporate manager said that he was just overzealous when it was actually a crime. I made it clear that it is against the law to use a person's card without consent. He was not fired or repremanded.

The got me a good deal for storage rental but that proved to be a gimmick because once I rented from them, they increased the rent only a few months into the discounted price. Additionally, they forced me to purchase their rental insurance.

I was highly satisfied by this company: clean and well maintained area, nice and helpful personnel. But today I arrived to my unit and find that door is behind the pile of snow and ice. Mostly this pile came from the aisle between 2 rows of units. So, snow from the middle went to the sides. It turns that company does not responsible for cleaning near storage door. You have to do it yourself, if door is blocked it is my problem. Emploee on the front desk doesn't care I put this info in review. I think it is bad service, especially for such type of storage. I guess in case of tornado they will tell to you to clean debries by your own hands.

I rent a space at the Jackson Rd CubeSmart and have for six months. I feel the staff, specifically Bryan in this instance, is courteous and alert, and has renters’ best interests in mind. Recently, I met with someone at the storage facility to sell an item I had stored there (Facebook marketplace). While I was waiting for prospective buyer, in the small front parking area, the manager took the time to ask what I needed and understand it. It reassured me that they are watching out for the facility and the people that visit it.

Bryan was the entire reason for this 5 star review. From the beginning he was on point with excellent communication, upbeat and friendly attitude and just going above and beyond service to treat me like a real human (which honestly is so often missing in our societal commerce interactions). He connected with my young kids, giving them coloring books, crayons and a cube cutting/glueing activity that kept them happily occupied for a good hour, which was a blessing when moving. Bryan makes himself readily available and helped me out immediately and fully when I broke my key off in my new lock. If you want a friendly man who has your back, as well as a storage needs, you couldn't do any better than this manager at this location. The person working there didn't do his job properly and either lied or misled us and then tried to hold us against our will in their parking lot. Bryan was very helpful in making sure that I had a moving cart. Extremely clean. My only complaint is that you are forced to buy some kind of insurance on the unit as well there is a one time 24 dollar admin fee. Neither of these fees were explained before move in which did bring the unit up by another 20 dollars a month. With that said I would still recommend coming here as the customer service was great!

Cubesmart made everything pretty easy for me. I wanted to especially thank Bryan Steichmann who was particularly easy to deal with in moving my stuff into storage. He went above and beyond to help including making sure my storage unit door was nice and oiled up and had string on it to make it easy for me to pull down. Customer service has pretty much disappeared from this location. Someone called repeatedly from here, I had to call back because their number is unidentified to find out who it was. I found out from the voicemail, they do not answer the phone for some reason. The price for my unit has also increased over $100. Really suggest you look elsewhere, these new prices are insane.

Hello Google World, Jennifer at this CubeSmart location has been wonderful to us during the changeover to CubeSmart from Simply Storage. I'd like to comment how helpful she has been for two weeks, over the phone, explaining changes in late fee policy, and helping to create CubeSmart online account in the store using our smart phone hotspot to have wifi on our own pc that we brought it. This resolved the VERY Difficult attempts to even find CubeSmart online for this location, and we would have had to had the pwd reset through Corporate CubeSmart, I guess. Always received great service - helpful whether opening an account or closing one, keeping the billing straight when changes occurred mid-cycle and were very fair about moving payments and/or pro-rated charges. I made a reservation by phone for a drive up 5'x10' quoted at $62/month. This is a great rate for the Ann Arbor area and the unit was clean and easy to access. Unfortunately, the woman I reserved with did not mention the $24.99 one-time admin fee, nor the $10/month SBOA insurance fee which the staff claimed was mandated by Michigan law. Well, when I got home, my partner called the SBOA and discovered this insurance is not mandated, it's just a way for Simply Self Storage to line their pockets a little thicker each month. Their sign also claimed Great Student Deals, yet when I asked about student discounts/deals they said they don't have any. False advertising much? At least they refunded the $10 insurance fee since I have my own renter's insurance. The staff were polite enough, and moving in was easy enough. I appreciate the convenient location, but once I return to school in the fall, I won't likely rent from them again.

This is a clip joint that does their level best to squeeze ever possible dollar out of the customer. I have to move out of my current apartment by the 20th of this month, and can’t move into my new place until September 1st. Since I don’t have any family members living out this way with room to store things temporarily, I had to put my things in storage for 10 days. Already, this place has been great! The manager even let us keep our things in my storage unit on the 1st of September (our move day) for a prorated rate instead of charging the entire month! The storage units are clean, the facility is nice and the staff are professional. I would highly recommend this company and 100% this location! Terrible experience!! We had reserved a spot, kept in contact with them and was told different things every time. Since we live in California, they told us to send in my daughter to sign the paper work, but when she went in she was told she didn’t need to sign just come in with us on the day we move stuff in. As we are getting ready to head over, they call us and tell us we no longer have a spot, the district manager gave it away. When we complained, all of a sudden they told us we could have a spot, they would bump someone else. Not to mention the price nearly doubled. Needless to say, we didn’t go with them. First, the gate was broken for a long time after I first moved in - no security! Then, I gave notice to vacate on July 5th and then was billed for August, even though the policy is to give 10 days notice. They charged my credit card for August, and when I sent them the confirmation I received for my notice to vacate, they ignored it. The credit card company agreed with me and reversed the charge. I thought that was the end of it, but I just received a collection notice for 150% of the original charge! And this is seven months after the charge was reversed!!! DO NOT rent from these people. It is a total scam!

The door to my unit has been difficult to close since I rented it. I reported to the manager, who just said there's a trick. Yes, hold the corrugated plastic down while you attempt to jam the lock sideways. Makes me not want to get into my unit. $111 a month should get me easier access to my belongings.

I wanted to love this place because the people are so nice, but I went away feeling snookered. After discussing rental fees and closing the deal, they charge a $24 ‘administrative fee’ and force an insurance policy that I don’t need for $10/month. They sold me a padlock that doesn’t fit the storage unit door and refused to take it back! I was told by the site manager that the district manager has a strict policy against returning padlocks, but they would sell me another one.

The ownership has changed and the management has as well over the years, and I was getting pretty discouraged with them, but she is a breath of fresh air -- a very helpful person, very prompt and responsive (unlike some others previous) and considerate. If only the corporate office extended the company's current lower prices to long-time, loyal customers, I'd stay on and on with local management being so responsible.

Stacey was incredibly helpful while we signed up to rent the unit and move in. She told us all costs and fees up front, and made sure we saw the unit and its condition before we signed on it. Overall it was a great experience renting from Simply Self Storage. Would recommend.

I would like to thank Stacey Hill for all the help she has given to me. Out of all of the places i have been to i would say this is the best place. Stacey was a huge help. My experience with the property manager Stacie at your facility was very pleasant. She provided me with everything I needed, it was a very trying time in my life and she made me feel so comfortable. She rented me a unit gave me the opportunity for insurance, everything I needed for supplies as in boxes,tape and by the time I left her office I had a new friend . That is costumer service you do not find these days.

Rented storage for a car for the second time. Both experiences were great so far. The facilities managers were understanding, and did not hesitate to show me around despite having a lunch break at the time. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking to store their car.

I've rented both 12 and 16 foot trucks - the 16 with a tow bed for our Lincoln MKZ hybrid. The guy working the front desk is very very friendly but he's not very effective. He hooked up the flatbed for me which came completely unhooked a half mile down the road when I drove away. He also admittedly had no idea how to load/unload a car onto it. The office is also always seemingly slammed busy with not enough staff. Although I only gave them 3 stars ("okay" based on my experiences) I would continue to rent from them. Just make sure you're not in a rush and you have someone with you in case anything goes wrong with a truck/trailer.

It's a large storage facility with a few different sizes available for internal or external storage. I do feel like the climate controlled is a little under heated in the winter though.

Same as above. The whole story. Bottom feeding management now. Close ealy then charge exorbitant late fees when you leave payment in drop box before the due date. Avoid them at all costs.

terrible, look for someplace else. we were charged late fees for invoices postmarked after there due date and more fees while waiting for the manager to return our 5separte phone calls.the district manager was equally poor,he promised a return call in 24 hours,after 1 week, I calked him again. The lights in our units worked for 1 month and we were told if we wanted the repaired we would need to move our stuff out at our own expense. Doors to the unit were off the springs.

Don't bother with this place. When it was owned by National Self Storage, it was well run and responsive to their customers. Not any more. After the new owners (SImply Self Storage) took over, they sent out invoices AFTER they were due, and then went ahead and charged an exorbitant and likely illegal late fee (over $30 for one unit!). After the national call center and site manager kindly told us that we would be refunded, the district manager over-ruled both and refused. SERVICE EXCELLENCE! They don't refund partial months rent once you are out. Who does this?? And they continue to send you invoices. (Their response... "It's an automated system." Maybe that's the problem. Does not provide itemized invoices. (multiple phone calls requesting one, never received) "Climate controlled" seems to be a term used quite loosely, so if you are still considering renting here after reading the poor reviews all over the internet because it's one of the few climate controlled units in town, just consider that whenever I walked into my building, summer or winter, the temperature felt no different than outside.
