I love the place first of all. Reserving was very easy and simple and the lady on the phone was pleasant. Was told to use the truck loading door since I had a trailer full of furniture and it was closest to my unit. Of course it's covered in plastic and out of order, the normal doors are on the complete opposite side. Trying to move furniture through The maze of units, that totally reminded me of backrooms, lost its appeal the 10th time I got lost. Would have been way easier if the doors worked. Will definitely change to 5 stars if/when it ever gets fixed.

CubeSmart Fort Gratiot - Decent Prices (Once), Frustrating Doors Overall: 2 out of 5 stars Price: Started reasonable, but beware of rent increases. While their initial pricing wasn't the cheapest, it wasn't terrible. However, be aware that they increased my monthly rent during my rental period. Pros: Convenient location (mention location if it applies to you). Drive-up units are available (if important, you can mention the size of the units you had). Cons: Frequent drive-up door malfunctions: This was a major pain point. The doors being broken often made it impossible to utilize the main benefit (drive-up access) for which I paid extra. No compensation for broken doors: Disappointing that they didn't offer any kind of credit or discount when the drive-up doors weren't functional. Rising monthly rent: They increased my rent during my rental period, making the initially fair price less attractive over time. Summary: CubeSmart started with decent pricing, but the frequent issues with the drive-up doors and the rent increase significantly impacted my experience. Ultimately, I found a larger unit at a competitor for a better overall price. If the drive-up access isn't crucial for you, CubeSmart might be an option due to the initial pricing. However, consider the potential for rent increases and be prepared for frustration with the drive-up doors. I recommend exploring other storage facilities to avoid these issues.

I didn't catch the lady's name who helped me switch my storage units but she was amazing lady at the front desk I could have went to a different storage unit but I didn't because this one is safe it's indoors temperature controlled there's security around there I don't have to be in a sketchy dark area but the customer service is awesome

1/6/24 UPDATE: Fort Gratiot, MI location store mgr. said the door is FINALLY fixed but of course there is no prorate for time my premium spot/premium price was NOT premium. Her words, “well that’s why we have other entrances, so you can still get in”. That’s not value in my opinion, so I cancelled my unit and will be out by the 23rd. This is an experience that I’ll be sharing, and sharing, and sharing for some time. Just a couple months after renting a large storage unit in PRIME location, the drive-thru option closed. Now my PRIME unit location is no longer prime but I’m still being charged PRIME rate. Also, I just received notice that cost is increasing for my PRIME unit from $140 something to $170 something! We’re moving out ASAP. Location/cost value no longer exists.

Excellent way to reserve your space online. It was quick and easy and I am not computer savvy. I received a personal call to welcome me and tell exactly where my unit was. The space was exactly as described - clean with a welcome kit inside. A lock and insurance is included so that saved me time. Highly recommend!

After renting a storage unit for only 3 months CubeSmart raised the rate by $90 per month! That’s a 60% jump! Beware! Update… management responded to my comment and reduced the amount of the increase. Still a jump in cost but better than the initial increase.

I used this storage unit for just about one month. I decided to move my items out from the unit because of my experience. Staff at the company was extremely rude, and not helpful at all. The second reason is the company is way overpriced for our area. Their prices are way above other companies in the area by $75-$100. I would highly recommend going somewhere else and saving your money and headache.
