I go to MSU and live an hour and a half away and needed a place to store the stuff that's in my apartment for a few months since I'm moving to a new one in August. Apparently if you don't move your stuff in within SEVEN days of signing the lease they put a lock on it and DON'T notify you. So you basically have no where to go with your stuff if you come after office hours to put your stuff in. Since I had no where to go with my stuff and it was all packed into my car I put my stuff in the unit next to it because I thought that someone had put their stuff in the unit I reserved but that wasn't the case, the facility themselves put a lock on the unit and didn't notify me that they had done so. I emailed them about what I had done and, who i assume to be the manager called me this morning and was very rude and wouldn't even let me get a word out. I get that it was my mistake putting my stuff in another unit because I had nowhere to go with the stuff but there was no need to be so rude because by the way, NO WHERE in print does it say that they put a lock on it. I read and re-read the email multiple times and checked the website and I couldn't find it.

DO NOT RENT STORAGE SPACE IN THIS LOCATION. We secured a 5x5 storage unit early on for our Michigan State student, a coveted size for students. Unfortunately, being out of state, we couldn't inspect it beforehand. On move-out day, April 26, after loading our car with dorm belongings, we opened the unit to find two deceased mice. We tried to resolve it with the office, but no one was present during their supposed hours, with no closure notice posted. After waiting over an hour, calls and emails went unanswered. Feeling stranded with our belongings and leaving the next day at 4 am, we rented another unit elsewhere. The following day, en route, we finally reached the office, where Ash explained they had an all-day meeting. After speaking with the General Manager, we were informed that, since we'd left, they could only terminate the contract to prevent future charges. There was no offer to refund any portion of our payment, citing impossibility. This lack of resolution and compensation is incredibly frustrating from a customer standpoint.

We had reserved two units, I needed to extend the move in time which was easy to work out with staff. Then before move in day, they found a leak in my unit after a rain storm, so they upgraded me to a larger unit at the same cost. Which made me not need to smaller units. Canceling the extra unit was easy and again, staff was awesome to work with

I rented the 4 by 9 storage unit and it was not what I though I was getting. The storage unit was up a rickety flight of stairs and it is made out of tin roof panels and there is no roof above the storage unit and instead just chicken wire. It does not feel that my belonings are well protected as it would take two seconds to break in.

I went to empty the unit and all my things were covered in some kind of debris. What ever it was it fell from the ceiling and literally covered all my belongings. A lot of the stuff was ruined. Thankfully the real important stuff was stored in plastic bins. And it is not climate controlled so it made moving hard.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this facility for the indoor storage units 5x9 or any of the units inside. The building is super make shift as if someone just threw the facility up with some old wood and metal roof panels as doors. Each unit doesn’t have a top to it. The building is misleading from the outside and photos on the site. I do not recommend this facility from an inside unit stand point. Find another spot snd get a view of inside a unit before you go. It might be close to MSU but you can do much better. Also suggestion if you think you need it for college storage, set up your dorm first then see what you have left. We moved our daughter in and realized we had no use for it.

My experience with Cube Smart was very satisfying. I went online to make a reservation. The representative was very knowledgeable. He walked me thru the process with no problems. I received a text that everything was handled. When I got to the location, Becca helped me fill out the rental agreement. She explained what the storage hours were, what my code (part of my cell number) was for entering the premises, a simple way to locate my storage unit and what time I needed to be out before the gate would be locked for the night. I submitted an application for a storage unit online, and within 24 hours the manager had called me to finish the process and made sure I knew how everything worked. I wanted to applaud and give kudos to Rebecca (Becca) and Jessie who really helped me when I moved my daughters out of their apartment at MSU amidst the Covid pandemic. I didn't know exactly what day I needed the storage unit or how big of a unit I needed. They were always willing to help move my date around to accommodate my situation. This was truly appreciated in such a crazy hectic and unpredictable time. Kindness goes a long way, and I have since referred multiple MSU friends who need a storage unit to cubesmart on jolly rd. People are quick to complain but I feel great customer service should not go unnoticed. This business had a major break-in during the overnight hours of Saturday 7/5/2020. Supposedly the customers whose storage units and RVs were damaged/stolen were contacted, but no one else who rents space was alerted. This business has NO video cameras on the south end of the property where the thieves cut through the chain link fence and where most of the RVs are stored. As of today there are no new cameras installed. The monthly fee for storing here keeps creeping up, but the level of security is suspect.

I used this storage facility to store my MSU student's dorm contents over the summer. They told me by phone the correct size of a storage unit to fit a futon, carpet, and other dorm size items. They e-mailed me the contract in May and didn't charge me until June. The storage unit was completely appropriate and you can access your unit by key code. They e-mail your invoice and you can pay online. The cost was reasonable and we didn't have to bring her stuff home. At the end of August, we removed our items and that was it! I definitely recommend.

I just moved my dad's items out of storage and the place was really clean. Becky and Jessica were really helpful with getting the movers in and out and directing them were to go. I am planning to use this storage for my own items in a few months now that I know it's here. Thanks staff!

We signed with Simply Self Storage in April of 2017 when we sold our house. Six months into having our stuff store our monthly rate increased almost 50 dollars with just an email notification. When my wife asked why they did that she was told “this helps get people to move their stuff out so we can get new costumers”. Then when we got our stuff out of the storage unit there was mice poop EVERYWHERE! Literally all over the storage unit and everything in it. I called and spoke with Becca to notify her that my storage unit had a mice infestation. All she did was email me a pamphlet to make an insurance claim. I got absolutely to sympathy from her, not even a “sorry this happen to you”. All I got was a “did you have insurance”. I had my life in that storage unit. All of my family’s belongings. All of my kids toys just covered in mice poop. Blankets that my wife’s aunt made who died for our kids, covered in mice poop. Everything nearly ruined and I don’t even get a sorry or any type of compensation. I will now have to most likely jump threw hoops to get money back that won’t nearly cover my belongings. I am so disapointed in their service I would never recommend anyone to store their belongings here.

Fell flat on my face because of all the ice and hurt myself. So thanks for that. Also found out that in addition to paying for a storage unit, I have to be a groundskeeper. Apparently, you had salt available in your office. Upon walking from my unit, up to the office I almost slipped and fell 3 more times. Again, thanks for that. Only to find the female employee that was in the office when I first arrived was suddenly no where to be found. This was also during work hours, so why she was missing for so long is beyond me.

Friendly service. Prices went up without additional value being provided. They were robbed in 2016 overnight. Budget truck rental lies about what is available from this location... not simply self service's fault. Budget just sucks. I just happened to check on my budget reservation and they did not have a truck available. They wers not going to notify me until the day before my reservation

While the majority of staff, as well as prices, are all reasonable, my experience with this unit was soured by a single staff member who would only identify himself to me as "Greg", because that is the only name that I, "need to know" and he's "worked there for 2.5 years", as he repeatedly told me, ad nauseam. This 'Greg' was very abrasive, unwelcoming, atrocious at communicating, and determined that he be the only avenue through which I can inquire questions. Getting explanations from him was like pulling teeth, as he seemed more interested in being defensive and listing consequences to the customer, rather than helping me understand what steps must be taken to remedy a situation. Fortunately for me, Greg was wrong about the fact that his name is "the only one you need to know", because once I finally found a way around him by contacting customer service, they were able to kindly and concisely elaborate on my inquiry and immediately remedy the situation. Unfortunately, I had already lost a few hundred dollars by the time I figured this out, and so will still be promptly ending my contract with them. And now upon researching it, I see that I am not the first to complain about his behavior. While I am not dissuaded from trying a different branch of Simply Storage, I just know that I can't deal with this one anymore. I would advise that you only sign on with this unit if you make sure to only communicate through one of the accommodating staff members like Jessica.

We selected this place based on the positive reviews, but we were very disappointed. The units are old and do not reflect the high price. Moreover, my unit had a bunch of ground water that poured in from the improper parking lot grade. I had to move all my stuff wasting my time and money. Id go elsewhere, or at least make sure you get a unit high off the ground and dont place boxes on the ground.

Incredibly nice and helpful staff. Made the moving process less painful. Fair rates on the units which have a 1" concrete lip on the inside floor to make sure rain can not enter from under the door. Good prices on boxes and supplies as well. Great experience.

Would not recommend the indoor storage facility to anyone.upon arriving to the facility to rent my unit i learned that they do not properly represent the size of their units online.the online website shows that a dryer and bookshelf should fit in their 4x4 unit however i was notified upon arrival that the pictures provided online were inaccurate. So I was then given the option of a larger more expensive unit. To ensure all of my things would fit in this unit I requested to see the larger unit. The property manager agreed and proceeded to the unit with me. Immediately as he opened the barn door i could smell what I assume was rat/mouse poison. The Stairs to get up to the unit were also very steep. I notcied there was also insulation tarp that,without even asking the manager explained was there because parts of the roof were falling into the units so it was there to catch the debris. I was extremely upset at this point that not only was the unit I originally planned on,much smaller than advertised but that the facility itself was not as pictured.because I only had my moving van and helper for a short period of time I had no other choice than to sign on the unit. I called their corporate office very upset about the whole situation. After that the property manager called me back,getting very defensive stating if I didnt want the unit i shouldnt have signed,even with knowing that I had no other choice. I then also got a call from the district manager who was also very defensive. Niether manager aligned with me nor were they calling to resolve any issue,they had both instead started the call as very defensive. Its very clear that this company is not concerned with the quality of some of their units nor with customer service as they seem to be lacking in both areas.

When I first moved back to Michigan, I needed somewhere to store all of my things before I settled in.I had a space at this place and it was great. It was very secure and super clean. Most storage units I've rented aren't always the cleanest so I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Will definitely return if I ever need storage again!
