Cubesmart has predatory business practices. They will hike your rates by 30% every 6 months. The front gate has been turned off and left open for the last 3 months, meaning that the lot is not secured and anyone can drive right in any time of day or night. When I visited the office to close my account I was greeted with a 'we'll be back by 12:30' sign, at 12:35. I had to leave and return later. When I did, I was greeted by another sign, this time 'we'll be back by 2:45'. When the "manager" finally arrived he claimed that he was just getting back from his lunch.. Poorly managed, not secured, and the business is effectively run from afar by the corporate offices. On-site "management" is little more than a babysitter for the property.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. You move in and within a couple months the price goes up. And then a couple months the price went up again. I fell on hard times, so I had to start paying not even 30 days after it was due. This month I went in on the actual due date to pay for the prior month and they wouldn’t accept my payment at all. (People fall on hard times but good old Erica and Mike didn’t want to hear it) Most likely because they want to auction my unit. I called corporate to speak with the district manager but the turn around time for them to get back to you is 48 hours? That’s just insane!! Run from this place. U-Haul is way cheaper and even for a bigger unit.

If I could give this storage unit a -100 stars I would . The staff are con artist , straight thieves , you expect your belongings to be safe and locked away meanwhile the front desk is waiting for the perfect opportunity to access your unit and steal your items. And forget about your insurance you pay for it doesn’t cover employee theft. I have items gone that I can never replace. I will never be back nor will I ever recommend someone there .

0 stars. The door to my unit was broken for nearly entire 2 years that I rented from Cubesmart. They never repaired it after I notified them the first time. The second time, they told me to move to a new unit myself without any help. I would rather move out and rent from anywhere else. Perhaps another location would have been best. When I was leaving the unit, and encountered a person, unlike my move in, the person was very curt and dismissive. I’m guessing it was because I interrupted her conversation instead of waiting outside while she was clearly watching me stand at the locked door to close out my account. Otherwise, as long as I paid on time, I had a storage unit. Nothing special and no one reached out otherwise. Im thankful my interaction was brief. Please thank the person for wiping down the ENTIRE DOOR when I left. That was sketchy also but hey, it’s COVID, right?

Cube smart was amazing! My husband and I had to store our furniture to move and Erika helped us and the manager Leah. Leah helped us to pick the right unit for our things and how much stuff we had and every time I went to add another item to my storage unit and when we moved in, Erika was a huge help in finding my unit and such a friendly person. This particular location has the worst customer service of any self-storage I've ever dealt with. The manager Leah is unreasonable and unprofessional. Just a miserable person. When you get a quote online that's not the quote they give you when you go to the location you wind up paying more. then they force you to buy their locks even if you have one of your own. Leah and the kind gentleman on staff (I didn't get his name) who I met today are absolutely wonderful. My mom just passed away last month, and she kept her treasures at this Cubesmart for about 8 years. Both Leah and the gentleman I met today were very sympathetic and genuinely kind, and helped my brother and I to make the process of gathering my mom's things as easy as possible. The Cubesmart units are clean and sturdy looking, and the climate control was awesome. I highly recommend this Cubesmart to anyone in the area, not only for the great condition of the facility, but also for the wonderful staff.

This was positively one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had in my entire life! Leah Hackley, the General Manager, was one of the most unpleasant, uncompromising human beings I have ever dealt with, EVER!!! I had at first reserved a 10 x 10 space but after seeing the diagrams I realized I needed a 10 x 15. She said that space was a package which included a lock and insurance. I viewed the space, beautiful and clean, I took it. When I began the lease signing process she told me to get my lock from the wall. So I did. The first screen I viewed on the electronic pad said $17.99 for the lock. I said, “I thought it was a package?” She said, “yes it’s included with the space.” I said, “that’s not included that is an individual cost for a lock.” “You need to be more upfront with your pricing.” She said, “I was I said it was included.” I said, “okay I don’t want the lock.” She said, “then there will be a monthly deductible on top of the monthly insurance premium.” So I took their lock. Next screen, $27.00 for $5000 insurance coverage. $3.95 for the insurance per month and a $23.95 administration fee each month! I said, “can I use my renters insurance?” “Only if it provides $5000 worth of coverage because that space requires $5000 worth of coverage.” I only had $3000 worth so I took the insurance and of course the lock. I tried signing the lease at the end on the electronic pad but it excepted my signature prematurely twice. She then attempted to print the lease but it printed landscape and about 18 font and then the printer ran out of ink half way through the document. She told me to come back later when she fixed the printer. I came back about 5:30pm. She said, “how can I help you?” I said, “did you get your printer fixed?” She said, “my printer wasn’t broke.” I said, “okay did you replace the ink?” She did so I signed the lease and left. Side note, when she created my gate code it was the first 7 numbers of my phone number. I said, “I don’t want that to be my code, do you know how many people know my phone number?” I created a new code which was spoken out loud with a suspicious man milling around in the store front. I returned the next day and changed the code which of course I was made to feel uncomfortable for doing so. I then noticed about 10 blurry cameras. I asked if it was from the direction of the sun. She said, “yes probably.” I returned the next day earlier in the day and noticed the cameras were still blurry. I contacted corporate customer service and they had the district manager contact me. I told him my concern about the cameras and in short he told me don’t expect them to get fixed in any certain time frame. I said fine but this left me with a very uneasy feeling since I would be storing everything I own there. I then noticed on the lease for the managers signature it was only a ( /s/ ) I called corporate again and asked if this was normal for a manager to not sign the lease? They said, “yes but if you don’t feel comfortable go back and asked the manager to sign the lease for you.” I went back and asked Leah Hackley if she would please make me feel comfortable about the lease and sign it. She said, “she did, the /s / is the managers sugnature.” And refused to sign it with her own signature. I went 100 yards down the road and rented from ExtraSpace storage and canceled my lease with CubSmart. Another note the manager at ExtraSpace, who was a pleasure to deal with, was honest with his prices and made me feel comfortable about putting all of my belongings in his facility, said, “Leah Hackley is good for his business.” As long as she is manager at the location in Lumberton, NJ on Route 38 I will never rent from CubeSmart again.

Be aware of the front office. They are shady and will try to hit you with hidden costs that can easily be avoided if they would be up front and provide the information when talking to them. For example, I went to their office in Lumberton three times to discuss prices, unit size and options. Not once did they tell me when we come to sign the contract to bring a lock or they would force me to buy their lock (even though I wasn't storing anything in the unit for two more days when I was going to bring my own lock). They also didn't mention that they charge a monthly premium for renters insurance unless I had a declaration statement from my insurance company showing my own renters insurance policy. That's an easy $40 for the company that, with straight forward business practices, could be avoided. Also, I needed an additional 5x5 unit and went to the office to see if they had one. I was told no, they only have 5x10s available. Well, checking on line they had 5x5 climate controlled and 5x5 inside units available. When mentioning this to the office, they said, "oh, that must have just come open." I'm sure it had nothing to do with trying to upsale me to a 5x10' for $50 more a month. Take your money and your business to Extra Space storage right across the street and get honest customer service instead of a front office and manager who are trying to take advantage of you.

Use caution, CubeSmart will play the old bait and switch game, when you "Reserve" a unit on line at a specific price (i.e. I reserved the unit at $100.80, they charged me $115), they claimed that the unit wasn't available but could put me in the same unit for the higher price. I showed Manager email with reservation, kind of chuckled and said "Sorry, that's not available", email was 2 days old. I realize that the amount is miniscule but it's the principal. Good old bait and switch, use caution, reporting to state consumer affairs.

The woman manager here was very nasty and seemed like she didn't want to be bothered with anyone or answer any questions. Had our stuff in storage here for a while while waiting for closing on a house but I would never go here again nor would I reccomend anyone to go here. The man working there was very nice and helpful but unfortunately the manager was just down right nasty.

This was my first storage space rental and I could not be more pleased. Ed, at the Lumberton store, was awesome in every way. He was very informative, pleasant and efficient. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made me feel comfortable in selecting CubeSmart. Also the pricing was far better than any of the other storage facilities in the area. CubeSmart in Lumberton is excellent!. Staff, especially Leah, was very knowledgable and extremely helpful, showed us several storage areas and provided a great platform cart when we moved boxes in. Storage area was very clean, very secure and reasonably priced. Very pleased with the service.

It took me a few weeks to write due to thee demands of moving. But truly wanted to make a point to write a review of how wonderful my experience was with this facility! Military family brings crazy life. I ended having to maintain this storage unit out of state for several months, and eventually to retrieve goods from it. Every phone call and personal visit was delightful and helpful! There was a wonderful customer service representative in the front by the name of Leah who was knowledgeable, helpful and understanding. She even helped try to keep my young son busy during the long day of watching the military pack everything up. She deserves some brownie points! Never had a problem with billing, over charges, ANYTHING while having this unit for quite some time! Thanks

The staff at this facility are great. I've met 3 so far and each one has been very knowledgeable and polite and respectful of the needs of their customers. I've seen them repeatedly go the extra mile to help customers. The facility is very well kept. Each unit I've seen has been spotless and in top condition. Overall I'd say this place is best in class and at a good price to boot. I don't know how they are at the corporate level, but the local folks have always impressed me. I would definitely recommend them.

I would't even give it the dignity of a half a star. My husband and I have been customers since it was called Lumberton Self Storage. The new employees that came with the new name are disrespectful, rude and have no loyalty towards its customers. If you do decide to use this facility ask for Leah, she is the only respectful and kind person on the premises. We NEVER signed a new contract under CubeSmart, yet we were expected to follow the rules of he contract the newer customers sign, which is a breach!! Good luck speaking with a district manager. I have left messages before to complain about how we are treated and no response, not an email or a phone call. I DO NOT recommend using this company as a storage facility!!!
