Do not store your things here -- there are constant pipe leaks and floods and even the building managers have admitted the facility is unfit to house items, nor that they understand the full scope of the issues with the building. The place is so poorly run, avoid the headache.

I personally wouldnt use Extra Space again. When I had my unit it was called “Life Storage”, and they got bought out. Ever since Extra Space bought them out, every 6 months they kept raising the price to my unit by $20+. My unit was $119 for a 4X5 (including insurance), by the time I moved out they raised it to about $200. Never again. The only reason they are even getting 2 stars is because the employees are so sweet and helpful!! I can’t describe enough how great their customer service is, they definitely deserve a raise!!!

DO NOT RENT HERE. I recently returned from two years abroad to collect all of my belongings only to find out that there had been water damage that occurred more than 3 months prior. I was never notified about this accident and the total damage to all of my belongings could have been rectified earlier. The black mold that grew on my mattress, couch, clothing, and books is a serious health issue and everything needed to be thrown away. I have called the service number more than 10 times since this happened hoping to get a hold of the district manager, Jermaine Douglass, but have never once gotten a call back. I've also reached out to the main company website without return. My unit was on the 3rd floor and I have heard this affected more then 65 units on every level—you'll start seeing more of these reviews as more people return to find everything they own was damaged. You can see the photo of the hole that opened up in the ceiling above my unit. Save yourself.

I've been renting here for years and the staff has been exceptionally helpful. Jahmeel has bailed me out on problems multiple times and always been there when I had a question or needed something, and everybody on the staff that Ive encountered has been great to work with. You don’t find customer service like this very often in NYC, which makes it all that more refreshing.

As I waited in line, I heard him politely & informatively interact with a customer on the phone, followed by a person who was moving in and needed hands on direction and assistance, and then turning his attention to me to address my needs. I had this storage unit since 2020. I started off paying $60. Now my storage unit just keeps changing prices every 3-4 months and I am never notified. I tired to call this location numerous times regarding this issue and I never get an answer. I called again yesterday 07/01/24 and my number was blocked. It said I can’t call their phone with my area code…. That made no sense. I was able to make the call from a different phone that same day and the next day which was when someone answered. I am going to make sure I make everyone aware of this storage place. You guys are a scam and are the worse. I can’t believe I’ve even stood with the storage place for this long but it was just so convenient but not anymore I rather go else where. The representative William that answered on 07/02/24 at around 9am was no help when I raised this issue. He kept saying he wasn’t there the day before.

Total nightmare. The pictures speak for themselves. Even heavy duty air tight plastic bags were filled with dirty water, mold and insects from a leak in pipes above. Our belongings were totally ruined by the leak which flooded our unit and others around it. The staff has known about it for a long time (see past reviews) and a staff member said that if they had personally rented us a unit they would have told us to avoid the ones on this floor. They've done nothing to fix this. The freight elevator was routinely broken so we couldn't get our stuff out once we realized the basement was flooded. The management was not remorseful, provided no recompense for thousands of dollars of damage, would not even waive the next months rent and gave us an ultimatum of paying or leaving in only a few days. The only recourse is to submit a claim to insurance which involved 8 hours of taking detailed pictures of every single thing ruined before throwing them away which was a huge ordeal (everything was extremely heavy with water) and a health hazard because of the degree of mold. There are no guarantees of returning even a fraction the cost of what was lost. Would not have bothered to write this review if our situation had been met with any kind of decency, accommodation or support from staff.

Moving out and only had today to move majority of stuff in, had to carry everything including mattress, bed frame, exc. but to the floor my unit was on. Hope this issue resolves soon.

Pictures speak louder than words: DO NOT RENT A UNIT FROM THIS STORAGE FACILITY. Ceilings leak, belongings completely ruined by mold, no help or recourse offered by management I chose Life Storage because they advertise that they are a climate controlled, safe place to store your items and they have an elevator. The unit cost 242$ a month. I've been renting it for more than a year while abroad. I came back to collect my things, the unit was flooded, and EVERYTHING was covered with putrid water and mold from a leak in the ceiling. When I told the manager he did not seem surprised and did not even want to take a look at it with me. Just told me to file a claim to the insurance. I was told that this was a frequent occurrence in the basement units by another employee. I was told I have two days to move out before the next monthly payment was due, even though the unit is completely flooded - not to mention insects that have eaten their way into heavy duty plastic slip cover bags with zippers. On top of this… The elevator is out of order. In my unit I have incredibly heavy items that need to be moved to a safe place on wheels. It cannot be moved up the stairs. So I asked if it would be possible to move them to an empty unit until the elevator starts working. Staff member told me it was not possible, we had to empty the unit before the due date, otherwise we would be charged the total 242$ for our stuff to remain in the leaking unit. So, to sum it up: 1. 3146$ paid in rent 2. Water leaks from the ceiling, completely damaging and destroying everything. 3. Elevator is broken. Unable to evacuate the unit 4. Told I have to CONTINUE to pay for the unit despite the fact that the unit completely wet with dirty water and mold and insects have eaten through all boxes and gotten inside plastic casings. 5. No offer for a new temporary unit, no attempt to fix the leak, no recompense of any kind.

I had extensive property damage at the basement of 45 Clinton Life Storage. I would recommend to all people to not store your belongings here. This building had a flood and is at risk for flood damage. The place is in bad shape looks like its not maintained and under poor management. The worst part is after the flood I was never contacted by anyone at this location. I only discovered the damage later on. The employees as well as the manager didn't even apologize. I was upset as anyone would be. This is after having a space in the building for over two years. Having lost many items that were still wet and moldy I left them by their dumpster, and moved some of my few remaining items into smaller storage space and moved the rest into my truck. A couple days later I receive an email of a $250 charge for dumping items and a cancelation of my storage lease that still has a remaining balance. This facility is poorly managed, the building is falling apart and filthy, the employees are rude, the management is incompetent and unconcerned.

I lost my phone the night before and William was happy to talk with me about the trouble I was having and just offer good words of advice. Facility itself it’s quite dated and elevators are manually operated, sometimes getting stuck. Highlight of this location is the staff, William specifically is always helpful, assists with operating the elevator, communicative and timely for any questions or requests.

Basement flooded, belongings will easily get ruined. Employees are nice and friendly. Elevators are in poor conditions, the single fright elevator was broken for a week or so. There is another smaller elevator but it's in even worst condition.

Life storage here is really the best storage I’ve ever had. Price is good and the space I got was decent. Faculties are super friendly and helpful, especially William. I was allowed to use the power in the office to run my pc to clean the data. He also helped a lot when I didn’t know where to dump a lot of my stuff.

This facility is the best. The staff here is really helpful and kind, especially William! I really appreciate the professionalism and support I get whenever I receive packages. William is always very prompt in calling me whenever anything arrives for me. If I can’t get my packages in a timely manner, they’re stored safely in the main office until I can retrieve them. This level of customer service means a lot to me, especially when I don’t have the time to make it in to get my packages due to my crazy work schedule. Thank you William and Life Storage!

I’ve had nothing but great experiences with this storage company. I rented a space from them a few years ago and will be using their facility again in a few months. William at the Clinton hill space is always friendly and engaging, same for Oscar at the east New York location. They’re super responsive and even gave me free bubble wrap when they had some unused supplies.

The reps at main desk and over the phone were super helpful. Qai was the best. He helped me get to my unit and properly secure it, he also provided equipment to make my move in as easy as possible. Awful experience. I reserved a 5x10 room and they gave me two 5x5. I could not fit a bed or anything else. When I had an issue they hung up on me and stopped answering the phone. I took my business elsewhere. I would give it zero stars if I could.

This is the by far the best storage facility I've ever had, and I've had plenty. The best part of the whole place is William, the manager. He is knowledgable, helpful, and always goes above and beyond to help people with whatever they need. Joshua is great too. From the moment you rent a space here, these guys treat you like family. Yo, so William is my fave FAVORITE person right now! I had the worst day moving my stuff n I came in all crazy yelling bc my "helper" just up n left my stuff on the corner! William had just opened and was dealing w drama from like 18 million other people and even though I definitely yelled at him for doing absolutely nothing wrong, he still got another cart and helped me move ALL of my stuff- totally chill, no attitude, nothing. Extremely unprofessional business. There’s no way they have 5/5 stars - these are clearly fake reviews. In reality, the facilities are poor, their elevator doesn’t work, they never have more than one person working at a time so every person is overwhelmed and unprepared, 3/4 of their staff are completely incompetent and belligerent. Would not recommend.

I would not leave my things there and I think most of these positive reviews are fake. I reserved a unit here and showed up today to move my stuff in. When I went to view the available spaces there was water all over the floors, leaks everywhere, and one of the units even had a bucket filled with water from a leak. Also, the guy in front of me in line was moving storage units because rats had gotten into his. There was also other evidence of rodents. I would not trust this place with storage of anything, it needs a full overhaul. Also, the elevator is a weird freight one that customers can’t use without staff- which doesn’t work if there’s only one person staffed in the whole building. That said, Daria was very helpful, patient, and showed me all units available. She was the only person working at the building, which seems absolutely insane and unsafe to me- I don’t understand how this company operates like this. Seems unethical.

Getting a storage unit here is one of the best choices I’ve made since moving to New York (and I’ve been here 13 years!) Justin is hands down the most helpful associate you could ask for. He has helped me not only over the phone, but multiple times in person lifting/assisting with my belongings. Was even present when a rude customer and his wife called multiple times and he handled it like a pro! Justin is a valued person and should be treated as such.

Stopped in to price some storage for my artwork. Facility is fairly old but there is a new company taking over and the staff was extremely courteous. Justine the store manager was absolutely helpful. Although he asked if I wouldn’t mind writing a review, his customer service definitely didn’t seem like he just wanted a good rating. He was friendly, well-informed, and overall made me feel comfortable. He directed me to a sister store that I didn’t even realize was closer to my new apartment! Kudos for putting the customer first!

Great! They originally were another name . When they changed names they moved to another location and moved all our stuff for free. The movers were great too! Friendly front desk. No climate control at this location but they have other locations that do have climate control. Recommend this company highly.

Everyone who worked there was very accommodating. Check in was great, as they made sure I got to see and confirm my unit before completing the contract. This was great as I noticed that I had rented too small of a unit from the online sales department. Luckily they had a larger unit available to rent, so I adjusted accordingly. Before I started loading my items, they had someone come to clean and make sure my storage unit to ensure it was neat. The staff were super helpful with the elevator, and the automatic entrance door, where my movers were loading and unloading. Overall the customer service here was excellent. Thanks so much!!

I have used treasure island twice and their rates are competitive for the smaller rooms and cabbies. Larger rooms go for about market rate. Parking is easy because of BQE 279 overpass, which has parking underneath. Navy Yard is across the street on Flushing, and it's a wonder businesses from there don't use this place more often

What's not to love about Treasure Island? The only thing more reasonable than the size of the units is the price! I've had to store some items here that couldn't fit in my Brooklyn apartment and have had absolutely no complaints. Friendly staff and even friendlier rates!

Treasure Island recently took over this unit from American Self Storage and I couldn't be happier about it! The service from American Self Storage was about as helpful as abbreviating their name would be. Seeing Treasure Island moving into the neighborhood was a blessing. I've had great experiences with them in the past and my first time at the new location was no different. If you were scared off by this site in the past, don't be anymore! You couldn't ask for a more reliable team than Treasure Island.

The staffs are very friendly. The building is pretty old especially the elevator. It would be better if the facility can open a bit longer. Although listed open till 7, it actually closes at 6:30 during week days.
