Absolutely horrible experience with this storage facility! (We chose it since we had enjoyed a wonderful experience years ago at a different CS location). When we walked in, the woman behind d the desk was insanely rude. No eye contact, didn’t stand up, seemed utterly annoyed that we were there (to give her business).!!We proceeded anyway to give her the size and quote of the unit we needed. She said dismissively “that’s not available anymore. I just haven’t updated the system.” We had checked 3x that day since we drove 45 min to their location due to the advertised rate. She told us she had another one of that size but we’d have to pay more (even as she admittedly failed to update the system all day). It felt unfair but we went to look at it anyway as it was nearing end of day and we wouldn’t have time to get to another location. When she opened the unit to show us, there were large grease stains all over the floor (not minor). She refused to clean it and said if we wanted a different one (the same size!), the price would go up again. Unbelievable. We had to leave as this was too egregious by this point. This was a big deal, as our moving truck had to be returned the next day and now we could not unload it the day before. Very upsetting. I advise you to beware…this place is sketchy. And we were shocked that when we asked for the manager’s name, she told us that she is the manager! We ended up down the road at Morningstar. It was a 180 difference. They are so nice and it is much cleaner. I wish I had taken a photo of the filth.

I've had several storage units throughout the years, but this location is by far the best I've ever encountered. I was planning a 1 year rental, but it ended up being well over 2. The manager is amazing; he always remembered me, and even helped me change units as my needs changed. The property is always clean, no elevator or door issues and well lit. I never felt uncomfortable by myself day or night. I'd recommend this facility 24/7/365!

I’m very disappointed with cube smart since they took over the building. They increased prices without a notice and there was a rat infestation which they did not warn customers about. When I opened my unit it was filled with rat droppings. I informed the front desk about it and she told me that they knew but did not alert their customers. No one was available to help clean up. Since then my monthly rent increased by $20/month. I am moving out and finding another facility. I would not recommend renting there.

Please note that this review does not reflect poorly on Gabe Pollock, the General Manager of CubeSmart Self Storage at 9521 US-290, Austin, TX. Mr. Pollock has been kind during my interactions with him. THIS IS AN UPDATED REVIEW (I initially gave CubeSmart 5 stars but it appears the honeymoon is over and I am experiencing what life is like as a no longer a new customer) As new customers at CubeSmart Self Storage, we began our rental on February 25, 2023, with high hopes of a positive experience. Unfortunately, our expectations were quickly shattered when we received our monthly statement showing a staggering 13% monthly increase. How could our monthly storage rent increase after only four months? What frustrates us the most is the complete lack of prior notification regarding this increase. Despite signing up for paperless statements, we were informed that the notification was sent out via snail mail. In an age where the US Postal Service has a notorious track record of lost or delayed letters, relying solely on snail mail for important communications is simply not a sound business practice. It is disappointing that CubeSmart, with all its increases, has not invested in more efficient methods of communication such as email, which would have been far more reliable and timely. To address this issue, I made multiple attempts to contact CubeSmart via phone, but I was met with voicemail on all three occasions. Frustrated, I switched to email communication. The response I received stated that rate increases can be expected once to twice a year for all clients. This raises the question: what justifies such frequent and rapid increases? Are there any substantial enhancements being made to the storage facility that we are unaware of? It is disheartening to think that these additional increases are simply padding the pockets of the management team without any clear benefits to the customers. Furthermore, the market mumbo jumbo disclaimer provided by CubeSmart feels insincere and dismissive. It does not address the valid concerns of customers who are disappointed by unexpected rate hikes. As paying customers, we deserve transparency and a clear explanation of how these frequent increases are justified. I cannot in good conscience recommend this company to my colleagues, friends, or family members. The relentless pursuit of profit through frequent and unjustified rate increases shows a lack of consideration for the customers' best interests. It appears that CubeSmart is more focused on maximizing their own financial gains rather than providing a consumer-friendly and fair storage solution. Given the disappointment and frustration I have experienced as a customer, I believe there are better options available in the market that prioritize transparency, reasonable pricing, and genuine customer care. I would encourage anyone seeking storage solutions to explore alternatives to CubeSmart, where their business practices align more closely with consumer needs and expectations. Update: With regards to the generic response I received below. My review came after I spoke with the store manager Gabe and the feedback I left was based on what was shared with me by Gabe. The rising costs? So costs are so high they need to keep climbing twice per year for every consumer? While I'm a realist and understand that the cost would not stay the same for the next 100 years, 13% after 4 months is the 'ol bait and switch. And top notch service? You mean like when I call the facility all day trying to reach a live person and kept getting voicemail so I had to send an email and wait a day and a half to hear back from someone.... That top notch service? Brilliant.

I've been a customer at the. 290 location in Austin Texas almost two years and until about 6 months ago never had one problem. Ms janice was awesome and greatly missed. Since she left its nothing butt hell. They have me locked out on a regular basis. Their policy states that they apply a second lock after the account is 6 days late of payment . Today i traveled four hours to begin removing my belongings (***** note today is day 6) i arrive during business hours to find that not only had they locked my building yet again and this time before their policy stated time frame but tbey also had made an unauthorized un announced rate increase and stated that they will not prorate and that i will have to pay the full months rental also to include the additional rate increase in order to access my belongings. Its sad that a simple change in management can make what was once a very reputable facility into a facility that is now operating in a manner that is borderline fraudulent. I would never recommend anyone using this facility. BAD BUSINESS

This is the best storage facility I have used in my entire life. The facility is relatively new, well lit, airy and spacious (hallways, etc). The manager (Janice) is extremely helpful, welcoming and service-oriented. She went above and beyond to help us when moving in as well as when moving out.... allowing our movers to use an empty unit as a staging area. We will use again in a heartbeat.

Extra Space Storage is simply the best! Clean, climate-controlled, secure and easy to access. The staff is beyond helpful! When a glass-top table slipped off my cart and the glass shattered on the concrete, Janice didn't miss a beat. She came to my rescue to help me and got the glass swept up before I could do it myself. Above and beyond!! I drive a few miles out of Austin, because this location is top-notch. Won’t store my belongings anywhere else!

My wife and I recently moved cross country and chose this location simply because it was closest to our new home. We were very pleasantly surprised to find it extremely clean, safe and with a friendly staff to top it off. I went out of my way to store my stuff at this location. When searching there were many storage facilities with high prices or bad reviews, until I came across Extra Space Storage. This place drew me in with great reviews and prices. I originally wanted a 10 by 10 unit to store my belongings. I was given a guided tour of the facility upon arrival. I was allowed to inspect and choose the units before renting one. I decided the 10 by 10 unit was too big and I was showed a 10 by 7 unit that worked with my needs. They will always put you as close as they can to the access points like the main doors and elevators. At the registered I was given a full explanation of the unit and pricing as well as how to cancel service when I am finished with the storage unit. Overall, this place is honest, clean and easy for storing your belongings. I will use them next time I have to move as well.

If I could give 6 stars I would! I used this space to store items for my wedding at a near by venue. This place is spotless, highly secure, in a perfect location, temp controlled, and a great price-- not to mention 24 hours! I probably sound like a sponsored ad, and believe me I wish I was getting paid for this, but this place is actually this great. I really felt good about leaving our items here, not only for the close proximity of where we are moving. Then a welcoming call from Janice, the manager, within four minutes of submitting the reservation. Upon arrival, an incredibly clean and well lit office and facility (waxed floors!), and a physical confirmation that the space was appropriate for my needs prior to finishing out the paperwork. Last but not least, the facility on HWY 290 West offers a state-of-the art building layout, including dollies for customers to tote all their belongings quickly making all that physical work much more bearable. Price was what I was quoted, although I would expect next time -and this is just constructive feedback- to let customers know ahead of time about the mandatory insuramce premium one is to pay monthly when in contract.

My husband and I are very happy with our experience so far at Extra Space Storage on 290. The reservation process was extremely easy. We were able to reserve a storage space online a few days in advance, and received a call within a few minutes of placing the reservation. We arrived on the day of our reservation and were able to sign the lease right there and unload the truck. Janice made the process quick and easy! The facility is new and clean, climate controlled, and they offer insurance for things like fire, rodents and bugs, and damage from sprinkler system. Best of all, cheaper than Uhaul! We would highly recommend this place to anyone.

We are getting ready to sell our home and needed a storage space while we are marketing the house and moving. Our son had used Extra Space and liked it, and when we did some research, we found that this location had excellent prices as well. Compared to the last time we rented a storage space, Extra Space provided us with an indoor (rather than outdoor) space, climate control, and far better security at a significantly lower price. As many other reviewers have noted, the office personnel, Janice and David, are very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Janice patiently showed us around several available units before we settled on the right size, location, and price. (It's even got a great view out of the window nearby!) The facility is spotlessly clean and well lighted. Security is great, yet still easy to navigate. They have several carts that customers can borrow to transport stuff to their units. The carts are durable and have a lot of capacity. I highly recommend this Extra Space facility to anyone who is looking for temporary storage.

I am very happy with my experience here, and I highly recommend extra space storage! They were professional, nice, thorough and the facility was impeccable. I was given their full attention, and great service from start to finish. They even offered my friends and I cold water bottles, which was great because we were moving all day. No complaints whatsoever!

Highly recommend! Great customer service - brand new facility! They have several moving carts to use for your convenience. Janice was absolutely amazing! She helped me pick out the right storage to fit my needs, showed me several different size units - I'm a visual person! Helped measure to make sure my 8ft couch would fit in the elevator. Then made sure the lock worked properly and I know how to access everything. Good location - no Austin traffic as you can get there via back roads. Thanks again!

David and the Extra Space storage team on 290 have been fantastic. I recently needed a large storage area to hold some furniture and boxes while I was readying one house for sale and waiting for my new house to be ready for move in. The process at Extra Space was quick and hassle-free. The facility is modern, easy to access, and perfect for my needs. Oh and did I mention 1st month free? Spread that over your monthly payments and the economics look good too. If you have the need for storage, check this place out.

So glad to have moved my stuff here from my other storage unit! The staff is great and even called to check in after I moved to make sure everything went smoothly. The facility is very clean and there are plenty of carts to carry boxes. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place.

I'm glad I went here! The staff is very nice and gave me a tour of the units as well since I had no idea what I was really wanting. The facility is still almost brand new so everything is really clean and nice. Definitely recommend them if you want a place to store your things.
