Storage unit broke into, water damage, homeless people living in units, pot holes the size of craters that will blow out your tires and bend your rims...nothing works including on site management. The best they gave me was a one month free rent... I am sorry but I do not want to stay there another month. You are better off storing your stuff on the side of your street.

The storage facility on Skillman is just not up to par with other facilities. It really just depends on the location. I’ve had a few storage units before this one and I decided to give it a chance but this place by far was the worst one I had. One of the biggest thing is I noticed rat droppings and rat pee all over my stuff. All of my belongings were peed and some are stained with it and some were chewed on upsettingly like my electronics. The facility smelled like cigarettes and pee. The elevators have been broken for a few months and I talked to the front desk about it and they mentioned how it wasn’t the company's top priority so they couldn’t tell me when them fixed. There’s junk on the hallways broken glass, wigs and random things. The door to my storage building is broken into and had its glass window smashed into. The facility on Skillman isn’t one I would recommend find a newer cubesmart it’ll be more worth your time. One time I got locked out of my own unit for no particular reason. After messing with it for a while I eventually asked them to swing by my unit and they used a master key to unlock it. The person who unlocked it was shocked themselves because they mentioned that they normally only do that for people who missed a payment but on the system I have been set to autopay the entire time.

This place was great when it was owned by StorQuest. Since Cubesmart has taken over, our rent has increased dramatically and our unit was burglarized 3 times in the course of roughly a month. Nothing was done to combat further break ins despite management begging corporate to do something about the issue. We salvaged what sentimental items we could, said goodbye to the lady living in the unit next to ours and got out as soon as we could.

I got a storage here months ago and management went perfectly well. No extra late fees. I was paying for a 10x10. For $80 buck I got it at a discounted rate for a special they was running and when Cube Smart took over they increased my rate and I didn't feel as if it was worth it because I've been gone for a while to return and my items are damaged due to rain. I was going to renew and get caught up but I moved out and found one much bigger same size for $90 with climate control. Some of my things have mold on it had to toss a lot of things. When I picked up my boxes they fell from the bottom. Don't buy boxes from them they aren't sturdy or trustworthy. Don't rent from them at all because it's just horrible. Gate access issues. Big pit hole on the exit that could be completely dangerous to your vehicle. I haven't even met the new staff but the previous staff wasn't so quick to auction off your things. To discover the dust on all my items. I took a major lost on my merchandise. It's trash everywhere the new people don't clean or pick up the nails. I miss it being Self Storage. We didnt have these problems

The walls in the units are drywall. Most of the walls are damaged, so it's not worth the money. All they want is their money and will add fees if not paid on time. Do not purchase the insurance they offer. It's a total waste of money. The company gives you the run arounds about paying out if you have to file a claim. Just purchase your own insurance. I gave this place three stars because some of the staff.

I was just informed that my storage unit was broken into a few days ago but I was told the incident happened over 3 weeks ago. Why wasn't I informed when it happened. This has to be an inside job. My entire storage unit was ransacked and I'm missing a ton of my stuff along with tons of valuable things that money can't buy and cannot be replaced. This place hasn't been the same since Cubesmart took over and let's not even talk about the price increase. 2 price increases in less than 6 months. It's not worth it and I will be moving my stuff out of there ASAP. No one from management can tell me why the security cameras were not working for 3 plus weeks and they have no security detail or patrol. Don't deal with this place at all find somewhere else. Thank God I have insurance and I want what's owed to me!!!!

Recently went to move some stuff to my unit and found that several items had been chewed through by rats and the unit smelled like mildew. Doors that should be secure are regularly broken, and overall just feels unsafe. After multiple owner changes and rate increases over the last 2 years, I will soon be moving to a cleaner, nicer storage facility that will be the same price, if not cheaper, than this place.

The unit itself was fine. The area is very unsafe. Do not rent a unit that is easy to get to. Like, don't get one on the side or near the gates or fences. Get 2 round safety locks. They do have indoor units protected by door pass keys, but they are upstairs. There is a lift, but it won't fit larger furniture like couches. There are always people walking through and there are a lot of break-ins. Check your unit often and get the insurance. Honestly, if you can afford to rent somewhere else, do it. Don't leave anything valuable here.

Let’s start with the rats, Ruining all my stuff. Then after I moved out, it was impossible to get in contact with the property manager to cancel. Finally canceled, and they still charged me $117. Property manager was extremely rude and did not offer any assistance. Just told me that they had other problems to deal with. I’m still waiting for my refund that will probably never come… DO NOT RECOMMEND

Finally called corporate, they gave me district mgr ph/email, called and emailed him also (store 3426) and NEVER HEARD BACK FROM HIM either! Ok so I was a little skeptical about renting here but it turned out to be one best experiences!! Jamie in the office is super awesome…..stayed late after closing to get me taken care of and took really good care of me!!! Then there’s Troy who does the maintenance around AND patrols the place (even late at night and the middle of the night). He really went above and beyond to make sure I had a working lift to get my stuff up stairs….even offering to help get my stuff up the stairs he couldn’t fix the lift, but it was working!!!! I got a really good deal on a unit and the staff is amazing!!!! So don’t be skeptical, go on in….you won’t regret it!!!!!

Stay far away from this place, THEY HAVE BREAK INS!!!!!!!went to pay my bill here on the 16th of May they took my money!!! I went back the 17th just to check on my belongings due to rain being on the 16th! I go and there is a different lock on my storage unit and it looked like someone took pliers and cut the lock on my storage unit. I go to the front office to figure out what’s going on they tell me I’m in a list…they show me a list of 100s of people that also took a lost with the break in and robbery , they show me pictures of my unit and everything was gone!!! They never notified me of the incident.. they said this happened on may 4th and still took my money on the 16th this is ridiculous it’s a whole scammm!! They have homeless people living in the storage units as well and junkies walking all around the place… they don’t have working cameras as well I WOULD ADVISE EVERYONE TO STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!

Do NOT leave your stuff here. After having many of my items destroyed by rats (they ate through boxes and left droppings on everything) I moved the remainder of my stuff to another one of their buildings that wasn’t supposed to have the rat problem. When I moved in, the door from the outside leading to my unit was broken but I was told it’d be fixed. I asked them repeatedly to fix it but they never did. No surprise, my unit was broken into. I don’t think they actually patrol because no one knows when the break in occurred and it was actually another tenant who alerted them my unit was broken into - after his unit was flooded. There are many homeless people living there and the people working there deny it. I was uncomfortable anytime I had to go there. This place should not be operating.

I had a horrible experience and storage management was horrible. She gave me three different access my storage unit once I realized this code must be incorrect. I went back and saw you entering the code correctly like it was hard into four digits instead of coming out and helping me, so I went back and tried it again and the door was wide open on the opposite side. The customer service was good but when I arrived on site it was homeless people everywhere. They are letting them live out of the storage units. I received a lock that didn’t work for the door. After unloading all of my items I went to get the correct lock from the office w d it was closed. I’m going back today I hope my items are still there.

The staff is really nice in person, but I’ve been traveling and it’s near impossible to reach the office. I’ve text, called, emailed and cannot reach anyone or get a reply to my email. The phone number for the office in my email gives a message that the phone line has not been set up. I don’t have any easy way of reaching the office or a live person to discuss my storage, account or billing concerns. It shouldn’t be this difficult to reach a personnel. I don’t understand why the phone number in their email to me doesn’t work and I don’t understand why I cannot get a reply by text or email. It’s been frustrating to say the least.

This was my experience! 10/07/22 - I was notified that there was a break in & my storage unit had been broken into. 01/26/23 - I wasn't able to make it over there to look at it to see if anything had been taken until some time in late January of 23. I verified that all my stuff was still there, about $500 value to me. My lock had been broken off so they said they would supply me with a knew one when the repairs were complete. They said that repairs were being made on the units & I agreed to let them put a regular hasp with their lock on it until the repairs were finished. I was having some struggles trying to get out there, but they had my number & my email address to contact me through. 08/17/23 - I was planning to put some other stuff in there & get the collectables out & sell them when I got an email asking me to rate my "Move-Out experience!". I didn't move out. I called them a few days later thinking that the move out email must have been a mistake only to find out that they had gotten rid of my stuff & closed my account. They said there was nothing in my unit. I had some collectables worth close to $400 in there along with some personal items. No matter what was in there, it was mine & now it's gone. They also owe me a lock which they were originally going to replace when everything was restored. They discontinued my lease. They never once tried to contact me so I'm out of what I had, plus the rent I continued to pay until they dumped me. Around $837.00. When I called them about it, they just blew me off.

This is a horrible company. I have actually been a customer for about 10 years. It was never great, just cheap. These units are all infested with rats. You will find rat droppings and damaged belongings after storing for just a couple of weeks. Today, I had the worst experience with both management and "customer service" department. They would not answer the phones all day, to make a credit card payment over the phone before late fees were added. It has to be paid over the phone, because their website won't process your payment after submittal. Likewise the office is closed on Sundays. I tried calling multiple times on the day before considered late, and kept getting recordings and playing phone tag. They ultimately forced my status into being late, and then applied late fees. When trying to address the issue that I tried making my payment on time, I was rudely blamed for not dropping cash into the night drop box, or calling to make the payment even sooner than I did, which was NOT LATE.....The customer service agent is useless and extremely rude, and THAT IS THEIR POLICY. This place SUCKS.

I have with this storage facility for a few months now and I am incredibly happy with it. Easy to make payment over the phone. I wish online was available, but it's not a deal breaker. The only thing you should know is that they close at 9pm so make sure to exit your storage facility around that time. The policy is in place for safety; however, 10pm would be more ideal. The staff was incredibly kind and they have a security guard that works here as well as a front desk manager. I am rating 5 stars because the price is incredibly for the unit size we have. I have almost double the space at this unit than my last one and I am hardly paying anything more. I got the insurance for my unit and I feel safer this way. Definitely worth it for an additional $15/mo.

Paying through their website has been tricky, however, as it suffers from glitches that make my monthly payments more irritating than it should be. I still manage to pay online just fine, though, but they need to fix it. All things considered, I 100% recommend.

Just recently rented a large unit at this location. We tried to pay the first month on the companies website although it was very glitchy it was done. Got a call from them 5 days later to let us know we had not paid and there are now late fees. They acknowledged that the website is messed up but refused to wave the fees even though it's due to their own internal issues. I would caution anyone looking to use them as there is a complete lack of customer service from corporate. I will note that the lady in the office is friendly and realize the matter is above her head.

Have used this facility for 10+ years, upsizing into my 3rd unit. 2 Weeks after moving into my new unit, it was broken into and 8k worth of tools stolen. Looked around the facility and noticed, even their video cameras have been stolen or knocked off line so nothing cam be filmed. No live onsite manager any longer, No security at all. Cameras gone or pointed at the ground. Holes cut through the fencing and entire sections of fence along Skillman gone. Anybody has 24hr access to the entire place and upon investigating there have been many burglaries here every month, but owner/management doing nothing about it. I am wondering if it has changed hands lately because the difference is alarming The thieves didn't attack my lock but just cut through shoddy hasp that was thrown together from previous burglary. My door was cut open and remained that way for several days so staff does not go out and do security checks of all the doors any longer. With the amount of items that were stolen from me they had to come back a few times. If you rent here, dont put anything of value and most surely provide your own insurance, theirs is a joke. I am actively looking for another company to store my belongings.

Worst Storage Company Ever! This company and their staff literally breaks into the units, steal customer's items, and thereafter refuse to show you camera footage of the incidence, refuse to pay you or even give you information regarding the insurance they charged you for. On Saturday 11/24/2018, I got a call from this company's facility at 9530 Skillman St, Dallas TX 75243, informing me that my unit A165 has been broken into. I was shocked when I got there and discovered that my entire DJ equipment worth more than $12,000 had been stolen. I was shocked because these not-easy-to-cart-away equipment were stored on the second floor of a building that is located deep inside the facility where one will need to pass through and across several surveillance cameras to get to, so I was certain that their surveillance cameras must have at more than one point captured the presumed intruder(s), as well as the break-in activities, so I requested for the replay of the footage, but they refused to show me, saying only a manager (that I honestly never met and don't think exists) can authorize to show me the camera footage. I gave up after several attempts. Still hoping this is a genuine storage company and not realizing that they are obviously fraudsters, I foolishly went ahead to yet rent and move into a bigger unit A183, on the same building and facility, while following up with them on the break-in. I am a mobile DJ, so I used the stolen equipment for gigs, and I was desperate to have them replaced, because I was loosing money, so I pressured the facility with the insurance claim for the loss. After submitting police report and every other documents requested by these people, I kept coming until March 2019, when they made me sign a document agreeing for them to pay me only $1000 for the entire loss, which I signed out of desperation, thinking I could at least use that for down payment for a new set of equipment, but even as I write today being 9/12/2019, about ten months after the break-in, I have not received a penny from this company or any insurance company, neither have I received a call or letter or text from them explaining why, neither have they even returned my several calls to both their corporate office and the facility. Each time I called the facility, one of the ladies on duty would promise to relate my message to the never on seat "manager", who has never returned my call. During this time, what they never failed to do through both phone calls, emails, mails and text messages was to remind me to pay for my newer unit which I continued to pay until I recently told the lady at the facility that I was no longer going to pay until the manager calls me. I also sent in this protest to them through email and mail, explaining everything in this review and hoping a management staff could finally take me seriously and call, but rather than respond to me on this issue, do you know what they did? They auctioned my goods. Now you see why I call them fraudsters. I've been recently too busy to take this matter up and I believe they'd be hoping I do nothing about it until the status of limitation to press charges pass.

They need better security, someone broke into my sisters storage and her lock was not even broken they had somehow pride back one side and left her things exposed not sure how this is going to turn out but Insurance is part of our payment.

Horrible costume service it’s been 1 year and half since I file my clam because someone stole from me. I every month and I have their insurance . Still have not received the money I was told I would be receiving. They keep seeing my check is a corporate well that’s being more than 3 months now . At this point I feel like I am being robbed even from them. Where is my check? How can it still be at corporate? Did they spend it ? No answer because No one Ever picks up the phone. It’s is always the same I DONT KNOW ALWAYS ! The least they can do is give a call back! So unprofessional! This is CRAZY you trust this storage for a safe place to keep your valuable tools and not only they do not care . They refused to give me the check they keep saying is in corporate ! Unbelievable ! I have been patient but I can’t take this anymore this place is a joke ! All they care is that you make your payment other than that they could care less about your stuff.

John was awesome!! Very courteous and friendly. I got there really close to closing...but he helped me rush through my process to get me all set up with a unit before the computers shut down. The space looks well kept and secure. And it was one of the cheapest prices that I found online. I’m happy with my choice to go to Great Value Storage.

In the last 4 weeks we have been unable to access our storage unit when it was convenient for us. The first time they had to repair the locking mechanism so they removed our lock and replaced it with their own because they couldn't open ours to put it back on. However instead of simply emailing or call us to let us know all of this had happened we had to find out by trying to get into our storage unit and finding a random lock, and of course because the office closed just before this nothing could be done. Yesterday we tried to run some things over to our other unit (yes, we have TWO that we are paying for with apparently limited access) and found a sign that "the code for this door has been changed" and a number to call, but the number was to the office and so since it was 5:45 nobody answered. This easily could have been avoided if they had just called or (even better) emailed a new code or a notice to customers prior to us just being locked out. I chose this facility because it is priced well and conveniently located to our home but had I known the repeated issues I certainly would have selected somewhere else. The issues are entirely avoidable and simply not being take care of proactively. I attempted to send a contact form to write this directly but after 10 minutes of "error sending" messages on there, here it is.

Raise prices all the time then hit you with penalties. Never get the promise they give you even from upper mid-managnent. If it was not convenient I would not be there. Do not recommend.

ABSOLUTELY NO STARS! THEFT THEFT THEFT! But they made me click at least one STAR! BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE I could not be any more displeased with the neglect of my claim. It will soon be 90 days since I submitted the claim. I have yet to receive compensation. This theft has turned my life upside down and left me with nothing. I lost over $30, 000 of property, investments, antiques, designer clothing- shoes-boots-purses, and very expensive luggage. The least you can do is pay out the claim for the small $2000 . this facility is not recomended somebody open my ubit an steall all my stuff.trailer tools etc. the Rob was in february 4th 2017 and till October 2018 more than a year and they not payme anithyng also they lock the unit whenever they want either if you make payment on time and you have to wait till they open at 9 am to fix they error
